  • Accusations and counter-accusations have delayed the release of a report on the investigation into financial and human resource mismanagement at Uganda Airlines with parties interrogating the others' interests. The director for communication and public affairs at parliament Chris Obore questioned the reason for the urge by Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi to have the report presented to parliament and debated on. Ssenyonyi who is the chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises also queried the motivation of the speaker to meet with the airline officials earlier this month. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition

Wait a minute. Does it matter how soon or even when the COSASE Uganda Airlines (UA) report is "debated" in parliament? I think that the findings from the parliamentary investigation of the UA can always be shelved and produced when the dictatorial regime in Uganda has been kicked out. We know that it is a matter of time, so are those well-known people in parliament standing in the way. The COSASE report will still be as good then as it is today, isn't it? We know everyone behind the investigation and what was revealed about them, whether they will still be in government then or not.
Personally, I think it would be criminal to stop the COSASE report in the committee, preventing it from being "debated." On the other hand, it would be a waste of time doing so, since time is on the tax-payer's side, the dictatorial regime's intransigence notwithstanding. No doubt, the regular and potential customers of the UA would be interested to know what steps if any to be taken in making it safer, including replacing the entire management and the board if necessary. The taxpayers are expecting action to be taken by parliament, but it may be long overdue before anything happens. By then, the UA may have once again collapsed, given what the COSASE has found about the calibre of its management and governance.

Chris Obre is used to doing useless pointless work but when someone like Ssenyonyi who takes pride in his work has it put on the back burner and knows how reports can go missing in parliament pushes for its debate then my dear Obore learn that is called work ethic not just sitting aound lying and doing nothing
