Don't get me Wrong Ladies & Laddies..Greg Oven is an Amazing Survivalist, he taught me alot, one of our 👑s of Survival.. Shout out to Mr Fin he's grown to be a beauty 🏆
I’m watching you with your tshirt hanging out in the snow like it’s no big deal and here iam complaining my Webasto wasn’t working this morning 😂 Man Test: you > me
Used to make that same style of trap for birds and squirrels as a kid. Didn't exactly know the name for it I just called it the catapult trap because the way the string tension is wound. Mine wasn't a bit different because I would use two branches that were parallel with each other to support the string. Does it get cold enough here for ice fishing
Great video, Greg. You must stay awake at night dreaming of these plans. My 14 year old relative was out duck hunting and shot a couple of them out on the ice. When he went out to retrieve them he fell through the ice and never came up. He was loaded down with shot shells, heavy boots, and lots of warm clothing. Don’t play around when it comes to ice. Thanks
We were caught out in a bad storm elk hunting and my buddy sacrificed his beard and mustache to get a fire going. Always carry toilet paper and a lighter that's the best in a pinch of any kind.
Ya know Greg here never finds anyone else's hair in his food (unless Fowler is cooking for him), he doesn't owe anyone anything for his food he earns the old fashion way, he will never find melted plastic or a dirty bandaid. His food is pure good clean wholesome well earned deserved goodness! 👏 he's living the right way man.
Best wish to all.... "You don't get to choose the events that come your way;, nor the sorrows that interrupt your life. You may hold your head in your hands and lament your weaknesses, your condition and wonder what you ought to do. To suffer, that's common to all, but to keep composure, faith and a smile is remarkable. This pain will change you more profoundly then success or good fortune. The suffering shapes your perception of life; your values and priorities, your goals and dreams, pain makes you; you are alive"
Happy New Year Greg, we all love you and there's nothing you can do about it😁 keep bringing the videos please, you have simply been a breath of fresh air in recent times, many thanks.
I really like how committed you are having Finn as your friend. I have had Dakota for the past 13 years. We work outdoors and he goes with me there and everywhere.
Greg do you think about what's happening in this world today? I'm assuming it is the very reason you are trying to TEACH the population how to survive what's coming. Greg your a VERY SPECIAL MAN with a VERY SPECIAL GIFT-Thank You
Greg I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I have been going back & enjoying all of your videos. I absolutely love how you explain how to use simple things in the everyday outdoors to your benefit when you are out in nature. You don’t have to be some huge RUclips “star” or go spend mega money to be able to go out & learn bushcraft & life skills. My Dad used to go hunting when I was little & I always helped process the deer. We always did that in his shop. But I enjoyed watching you show how to process one in the field. I know that isn’t for everyone BUT once upon a time that was the ONLY way a lot of families survived. They hunted, processed, preserved & cooked their own food. Unless you were lucky enough to have money. Never hurts to know these life skills. Thank you for for sharing your stories & educating us with your knowledge you have gained over the years. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. PS….I appreciate your honesty in trial & error. Sometimes that’s the best way to learn. Rocks exploding in a fire….I never knew that could happen but I sure do now. 😉. Keep up the great work Greg!!
The trap is interesting but I would be inclined to simply hold the handline. Since fish will often hook themselves on a stationary line I think all the effort for the spring action on your trap may increase the hooking effectiveness only marginally. That said, I still enjoyed the video, but this time, Finn was the star!
You are the real deal! Please answer: Do you get an extra couple of pennys if we watch the entire ads versus hitting the skip button? Just want to know how to make your new year better. Thanks for every post! You are helping so many people who can't get out to enjoy the outdoors!
I'm in england and i still watch these vids for the lessons I learn and valuable life skills you could get, u never quiet know what could happen at any given moment so thank you greg
Hey Greg. Rob here. My wife Sue and I are new subscribers to your channel this year .love your videos. always fun and informative. We do a lot of outdoors adventures too and i thought you would really appreciate how you saved our butts the other day...... Ever since we say your video on always having a lighter , that always stuck in my head. Now I check that I have one every time. We headed out to our deer blind for some bacon and eggs here in Alberta -32 overnight. We have a buddy heater there with a 20 lb cylinder. I thought it could be Jelling up in the cold, so i brought a 1 lb er, warm in my pocket just in case. we have a butane stove too and i usually warm the butane up on the buddy heater if its too cold........ Trouble was that the buddy heater wouldn't light, no way, no pressure. I figured the regulator just above the 1 lb cylinder was frozen up. I used the lighter to warm up the regulator just a little bit and problem solved.....Thanks for the tip...keep em coming.
Happy New Year Greg and everyone else who has watched and subscribed, say hello to Zach, Joe and all of your families. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas as well. Keep Finn out of trouble 😂.
I really, really like showing how much effort goes into making a fire. Something I think is glossed over in other channels. Greg, you’re by far my favorite youtuber
You should pull the ferrel rod towards you and keep the knife still .that way you use all the rod and won't get a weak spot so it won't snap 😉 ..happy new year Greg
Life is a real adventure in the woods with a dog! I lived in Germany when I was into scouting and saw all sorts of interesting adventures. Thanks for sharing! Tom Emard
Couldn't start the fire reminded me of Billy Joel. Somewhere Fin has to step up and fish but he ends up with a football and it's deflated. Love the outdoors camping and Happy New Year.
There's humidity in the air, temperatures low but not too low. I find this kind of wheather the most straining when it comes to keeping warm and starting a fire. No need for the wood chips to be wet, just slightly damp and cool, you're gonna have a hard time to get it going. Warming it up may help. Crumpling or cutting the pitch is certainly helpful, too. Anything to increase the surface for the sparks to catch.
Always carry a candle with you, rub the candle against the wood and it'll deposit little bits which will act as excellent fuel and gets fires going really quickly
Oh by the way Greg, I had a German Shepard a while ago and I bred her thinking I was going to make some $. Needless to say I ended up with several pups and only sold 2 out of the litter. I ended up raising 5 and loved them all. LOL
Newfoundland ice fishing season opens February 1st for trout. I'm not going to make the deadline Greg 😪 but as always awesome video though 👍👍👈 and happy New Year to you and Finn
You've become a pretty important source of info and entertainment for me. Fowler/Ovens team et al are top tier sportsmen and entertainers. Kudos and a GREAT new year!!!
Happy new year fellas! Been a hell of a year, I'm just thankful I found this channel, really helped me pull through such a rough year where tons of people lost loved ones and friends, cheers to all those who are still here🙏 let's raise a glass to all the people who couldn't make it
hello greg .. come from austria (central Europe)your tours I find brilliant ... great respect ... like to see your youtube channel... wish you a Happy New Year and stay healthy... greetings from austria ralf
My heart could melt all that snow just watching Finn run around with that well-loved football
35:35 And now... Finn puts a smile on everyone's faces
One of the things I like best about the wilderness is there's no DRYWALL!!!🤣😂🤣 love the videos Greg!!
I appreciate you showing the fire not lighting the first time, thanks for not editing that!
I love watching your videos with my 3 year old. We love it. He loves your dog! We love learning and listening to you! So calming ❤️🌿❄️🕊️
Guys!! please like the Videos so they get more recommended. This Channel deserves it
The moment of Finn staring with the football in his mouth was priceless.
It melts your heart. So adorable
He could not understand how that football was not crucial to the building of that fish trap haha.
I watched for that! Nice
He was trying to help 😁
@@oldpolak5203 I understand that , thank you for taking the time to respond.
Finn's going to be eating good tonight.

Those Finn moments in the background make this video great. Need more Finn POV!!!

You and Fin just saved 2021 for me Greg! In the nick of time! God Bless and have a great time in 2022!!
I just enjoy Greg's stories. We should have a story time with Greg, I'm actually serious, he always grabs your attention
Great idea 💡
Great video, Greg. You must stay awake at night dreaming of these plans. My 14 year old relative was out duck hunting and shot a couple of them out on the ice. That's terrible
My Mom said if it's not a foot thick, it's not safe. I'm so sorry about the lad. 😢
We were caught out in a bad storm elk hunting and my buddy sacrificed his beard and mustache to get a fire going. Always carry toilet paper and a lighter that's the best in a pinch of any kind.
Finn is a beautiful shepherd.

Gonna count this one as a tandem camp and fish/dog video.
That is such a pure lifestyle, just Greg and Finn having the best time in woods. I
Finn sure turned out to be a dapper felloooooow
There are few channels I follow as much as I do yours, Greg. You're the man!
When you tie the three sticks together, take the one that wants to be the middle one and swing it up and over, back down and it will be very tight.
Enjoy the year 2022. Love watching.
Dad daddy daddy daddy lots of love for Finn
He's back baby.
Happy New Year Greg, we all love you and there's nothing you can do about it😁 keep bringing the videos please, you have simply been a breath of fresh air in recent times, many thanks.
Man i learn something from all your videos , you are one of the few people who i can honestly say teaches properly thank you.
I really like how committed you are having Finn as your friend. I have had Dakota for the past 13 years. We work outdoors and he goes with me there and everywhere.
Im sorry the bit where the stick fell is one of the funniest things that wasn’t intended to be funny I’ve ever witnessed. Absolutely perfect 😂
Greg do you think about what's happening in this world today? I'm assuming it is the very reason you are trying to TEACH the population how to survive what's coming. Greg your a VERY SPECIAL MAN with a VERY SPECIAL GIFT-Thank You
It's been Awesome watching your channel grow in the last year. Keep up the "hard" work and know that your members LOVE you!

The “Collar Cam” was brilliant! I think a live stream of an Iditarod Race from a collar cam would be awesome…
Me too, Yukon quest or Iditarod live stream would be amazing 🤠
The master trap builder in his natural environment. Super educational and entertaining. Right on mr. Ovens!!!
Another fun video. I hope you have somewhere warm and dry to spend winter. Happy New year Greg.😊😊😊😃
Didn't have any luck ice fishing, but stayed warm with the wood stove going! Great video!
