Nice and noisy | 73156 makes itself heard at the Great Central Railway 05/10/2024

Although I'd ridden behind BR Standard 5MT 73156 a few times before, I'd only done short hops or double headed trips so at the recent Great Central Railway Autumn Steam Gala I was keen to get a proper ride behind this loco.
I travelled behind it, first, from Rothley to Loughborough and captured the departures from Rothley and Quorn & Woodhouse. Having spent some time at Loughborough, I then rode behind 73156 on its last round trip of the day and was treated to one of the loudest runs I've ever had. I overheard another punter sum it up perfectly at Leicester North: 'The driver certainly likes his regulator, doesn't he?'
I managed to get a front window for this round trip so I was able to properly experience the Standard 5 for the first time and it turned out to be the highlight of the Gala for me.
