Battle of Severodonetsk - International Legion / FSG Alpha - 8 Hour Firefight (06/08/22)

- Опубликовано: 26 окт 2022
- On the morning of June 08, 2022, as part of a larger, coordinated effort to push the Russians back in Severodonetsk, Foreign Service Group-Alpha conducted an offensive operation to recapture territory from the Russians. This footage was captured by one of the team members during the operation.
-OPERATION SUMMARY -
FSG-Alpha inserted partway into the city via armored vehicle, before continuing to the Ukranian line of control on foot. Both Ukranian and Russian lines of control in the city were separated by a small strip of "No Man's Land", where most of the fighting occurred. FSG-Alpha's mission was to push into said "No Man's Land", clear, capture, and then hold several buildings until reinforcements arrived.
The mission proceeded fairly uneventfully until the team began the push into "No Man's Land". While crossing the street and capturing the first building, the team was spotted by a Russian fireteam that was, presumably, attempting to capture the same street. The Russians engaged FSG-Alpha, firing two grenades from an underbarrel grenade launcher. The grenades landed within meters of several FSG-Alpha personell, alerting them to the presence of the Russian fireteam.
FSG-Alpha engaged the Russians in return, and the firefight escalated from there, turning into an 8 hour long engagement that only ended when the sun set and darkness fell. Both sides made heavy use of rockets and RPGs, as well as tank and artillery support. Mid-way through the firefight, a second Russian element, located in an elevated position further down the street, attempted to assist the first Russian element, by firing on the building occupied by FSG-Alpha with a PKM equipped with armor piercing rounds. These rounds penetrated the walls of the building, narrowly missing several FSG-Alpha team members. Additionally, FSG-Alpha was briefly fired upon by Ukranian units located behind the team, who recieved fire from the aforementioned Russian elements, and mis-identified FSG-Alpha's position as a Russian one.
As the sun set, the Russian elements retreated back down the street to their line of control. FSG-Alpha continued to hold the captured building, and captured a second, adjacent building as well. After nightfall, the team was backfilled by elements of the Ukranian National Guard, allowing the team to extract under the cover of darkness, to rearm and recuperate.
Miraculously, FSG-Alpha took no casualties during this operation.
Foreign Service Group-Alpha is a team of the GUR branch of the International Legion of Ukraine.

What I've heard is some polishs, various eastern countries, Canadians, Brits, ect, speaking a mix of French typical from FFL, english and polish.
I'm almost sure they are all légionnaires with no exception. Even the main english speaker sometimes switch very briefly to French in the action to ensure to be understood.
They brag at the begining that they have French combat foods and grenades, that they feel home like in the légion. It is supposed to be illegal according to legion's own rules. I don't know what game France is playing, but it won't help if some of its best fighters are wasted in a no-win fight that is just a warm up for something bigger.
As for fun, as you underligned, they obviously have. They are were they wanted to be.

(Angry Ukrainian Noises) That part was great and so true. Great video.
The guy filming seems to be British with a french foreign legion background (British accent in English but weird/not English accent in french). The team includes a few foreign legion guys with multiple accents. At least one seems to be Russian or Ukrainian, sorry, I can't differenciate the two by ear. But some in the team seem to be from the UK (at least the accent reminds me of that) hense the "can you tell me in English what you saw".
The main guy seems to arrive with ukrainians and one guy he knew from the legion in the vehicle at the start.
The main guy and his friend joke about how it feels like they never left the legion as they find french grenades and MRE. Then they talk about friendly fire being a big thing when communications are hard (with a reference to WWII).
Later on OP and the other guy say that an enemy grenade exploded a few metres away and the enemy shooting at the thin metal door before them. That's pretty much all that was said in french. At some point they talk about not knowing what is firing at them but that it goes though the walls and hits the opposite wall. A third guy answers that it's a PKM. Then guy #2 jokes about dying there. Then there is mension of a tank (asking about friendly or enemy). They later say that the enemies might be far because they hit pretty high on the opposite wall. Then when going back I think guy #2 says that they should find some clothes to keep warm I think?

No suppressors, no red dot type scopes, no magnified scopes or magnifiers for the red dots, no ACOG style sighting systems, no night vision. None of our rifles had any sighting system or night vision. We did have pak-4 infrared laser for use with helmet mounted night vision. Basically we almost always fired with "iron sights."

Hello from Bulgaria.
Thank you for your services.
