  • Mark takes Scottie stop visit an old flame.....an aircraft that he flew at the start of his career, the Handley Page Dart Herald. This was Mark's first real airline job and he has found memories of flying this ageing aircraft.
This particular aircraft appeared in the Netflix series The Crown as it was the one that HRH Prince Philip flew in on his South American tour.
We hope that you enjoy a walk down memory lane for Mark as he takes Scottie to visit an old flame!!

Fond memories of Air UK operating the Herald into Aberdeen in the 1980's. If you're fancying a trip further north, East Fortune could be a fun day out!

Very interesting, one suggestion for a show could be visiting Kemble and the buccaneers.

For those interested the Irving Beak referred to by Mark at 19.53 is a fairing that extended the full length of the rudder and protrudes into the tail fin. Its movement inside the fin creates venturi effects to assist movement of the rudder against high air loads.

I remember this very aircraft (in BAF colours) providing pleasure flights at the 1977 Blackbushe Air Festival. Not too far from where she sits today!

Fascinating! I have fond memories of seeing British Island Airways Heralds at Gatwick in the early 70s as a young boy. Dug out some photos from Guernsey airport from 1988 with shots of a Channel Express Herald G-CEXP after watching your film! Thanks for your company. Best wishes Steve

Also, Never apologise for looking up for aircrafts lol. Regarding my first experience standing with pilots chatting, upon hearing a plane overhead we all looked up, I felt at home it was awesome!

The most unique aircraft indeed, between the autopilot, fueling scenario and the "pressurized" cabin LOL coupled with the experiences, this plane was a sure doozy lol this was fun! Only recommendation is for the audio, you guys are somewhat soft and then the outro music catches me because it's much louder. Otherwise you guys are great!
