    • @TheAnnoyingBoss
      @TheAnnoyingBoss Год назад

      They already are not an issue if you spend the extra time going around the continents which sucks but also the smaller the ship the more ports it has access to and there's many ports that will never be big enough to take the biggest ships so is it really even worth it? You could just build an extra ship that's smaller and keep the port the same size and it will have a broader range of ports it can go into

    if we put all 2400 containers on lorries the line of lorries would be 204 miles. if there were no room between the lorries.. that is longer then the M4 or the M1.. however if those lorries were to keep the minimum safe distance between them (UK Based info).. the convoy of lorries would be.... 1394 miles long. which would equate to THE WHOLE M4 motorway both sides if it had three lanes all the way being full of these containers on lorries.... THIS is how to explain the economics of scale

    It was the green that caught my eye then I realized I was looking at one of the Evergreens. Just had to stay for the whole thing. What a beautiful ship and I'm sure Samsung Heavy Industries, the makers must have sucked up all the green paint in Asia!
    Bigger than the Ford class carriers in all regards. Very impressive. The sail effect of those flat sides is tremendous as we saw when its sister ship gave the Suez Canal a wedgie for a good while.
    Equally impressive was the confidence, deftness and incredible power of the tugs, finessing it one way or another and finally tucking it in like a baby in its crib and just as gently.
    I'd love to know more about those tugs???
    Well, a whole new world to share courtesy of Airliners & Ships Channel and for that, Thank You so much. I have upped your 29.7K subscribers by one more and of course automatic thumbs up at all times from now on. Also I found that watching it had a bit of an ASMR effect on me, calming. While the sight and finances of these ships have now become staggering in proportion the real miracle takes place not so much on the water but on land, simply marshalling enough containers in one spot to make a voyage profitable is a logistical nightmare for road and rail haulage to contend with. Simply finding sufficient floorspace at ports prior to the ship's arrival is a gargantuan task and beyond the capacity of most ports alone. People look at these ships as marvels but fail to understand they are just the visible portion of a worldwide enterprise in simply getting them to sea at all.

    • @patsematary
      @patsematary 2 года назад

      C’mon! at the moment it’s more convenient to carry 20,000 containers per trip than 6000 or 10,000 divided into three or two ships...if there was a contraction in export and/or or a manufacturing recovery in Europe these ships will end like dinosaurs....In the meantime, some ship gets stuck...

    • @Crassus_Auratus
      @Crassus_Auratus 2 года назад +1

      At 2:13 and 11:40 you can see, the containers are "sloped" at the front, but in front of the bow, there is a large blind spot/angle. There are also cameras and radar etc., and yes, computers help to steer, there is also an autopilot for open sea. But in the end, the crew must have the skill and possibility to steer manual if the techs fail.

    This ship isn’t scared of the waves in the Ocean. The Waves are scared of this ship

    • @1zanglang
      @1zanglang 5 месяцев назад +1

      These ships are 400 m long. Their hulls are a flexing structure, not monolith. Big storms in the middle of the ocean are quite dangerous for them, because of the huge waves. The distance between two waves is shorter than the length of the ship. So, when the bow and the stern are on top of two waves, the midships is above the ”depression”, and the water level is way below the floating line. This makes the whole hull to flex, considerably, because they can't build a totally rigid hull with this dimensions. So, the specs given to the operator, the captain, contain recommendation on how to navigate depending the sea state, what course to maintain in relation to wave direction, and the maximum sea state the ship can handle without causing structural damage. In reality, there is nothing in this world built by humans, which can totally withstand the power of the sea.
