I grew up with those early albums and The Beatles Story totally captured my 6 year old brain and heart! The sound of the live audience and the announcer talking about the Beatlemania phenomenon (which I now know was probably recorded separately and mixed together) just enthralled me! Of course, listening to it now it’s very passé but at the time it worked and I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
I bought 5 records of this set individually (instead of the box set) on The Beatles Official Store. They charged $8 per record for shipping - total of $40 for 5 records - which is crazy and outrageous. It really pissed me off!
I've always liked the cover of "The Beatles Story" for some reason. I even have a T-shirt with the cover on the front. Funny given that I bought the shirt in England and the album didn't come out there. The box set looks fun but not sure I want to spend that much money. I might get individual copies HDN and second album just to have them in mono.
The Beatles Story Capitol Lp is a fun listen now & again, of course only available in the New Box Set. This 2 vinyl album when released in 1964 was the first time you had a gatefold cover w/nice pics & could hear 10-15 second snippet of the Beatles Twist & Shout live at Hollywood Bowl(quality wasn’t bad). The few edited Beatle songs previewed sounded good too. The narrated bios of the Fab Four were not accurate but the voiceover sounded cool. And let’s face it the girls Beatlemania craziness is what made it all lot of fun. I Guess take your pick if you like this time- piece- I did!
The trailer for the box set which is probably going to be listed public tomorrow got leaked a few hours back, but got deleted very quickly after. I can confirm that The Beatles Story is a box set exclusive, and each box set comes with a booklet containing mastering notes and information about the album and the us tour. The release date has also been confirmed in the video, which is going to be November 22 (the anniversary for with the beatles).
Mr Mayo so this looks like this will be it for 2024 Beatles November 22 we already have this in a box set Capitol records on cd sold individual or in the box now we're getting on Vinyl for $299 or individual for$30 each at the Beatles store! This is nothing new ! It is a nice box set or individual i was expecting something new Like Anthology 4 or maybe live at star club or maybe Magical mystery tour box set! I will pass on this box set but it is very nice set!!!
I hope they also reissue Beatles IV, Help! (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Rubber Soul, Yesterday & Today, Revolver, and Hey Jude on vinyl as well. Would love to see the full set remastered. I also hope they do both stereo and mono reissues.
I don’t get all the hate toward “The Beatles Story”. I dig out the CD version once a year and play it. It is what it is, it is a time capsule- nothing more or less.
I first watched your old video about the US Albums CD boxsets review a few years ago. I decided back then to get the Capitol Album box set for authentic 1960s US sounding mixes. I wish Apple/Beatles Corporation would re-release the Capitol Albums Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 cd boxset but with a better sounding remastered cd (both mono and stereo versions on one disc) and a better packaging and literature like the US Albums boxset. If possible, they should add the albums Yesterday and Today, US version Magical Mystery Tour and Hey Jude. Thanks for all your informative videos.
What Capitol/Emi/Calderstone/Apple should have really done was issued two slimed down box sets of (Giles Treated UK)A HardDaysNight on say July 1 and in November 1,2024 issued (Giles Treated UK)Beatles For Sale.
Hi Joe Thanks for the update. If The Beatles Story album is in the Box Set, I have no choice, but for me, it's the most unnecessary album. The Beatles Second Album and Beatles "65 are my favourite Capitol albums, because of the reverb and they are damn good albums on their own. I don't own all the American albums, but the ones I have, got the Dexter treatment. For me ...... Please, release the box asap, and I will buy it. Take care.
I see the individual LPs (minus The Beatles Story) will be retailing for $29.98 each. The box set though is $299.98, so that prices The Beatles Story at $120! I think I’ll just get Meet The Beatles as it was their first Capitol LP.
Hey Joe, I'm digging out boxes of old VHS tapes and I found an off-the-air recording I made off WLIW 21 Garden City in the early 80's of a fundraising broadcast of Beatles at Shea. Is this something that's around? Is it worth trying to digitize and upload for Beatles fans? Maybe the fundraising portions if not the Beatles film itself?
Slighly off topic Joe but do you think they'll get around to a UK version "Help" boxset?? That's in my top fav Beatle albums and I'm just hoping the lesser famous albums will get the same box love. That being said I am looking forward to picking up AHDN soundtrack on vinyl as that's the last if the US albums I've been looking to get. Thanks for the update!
On The Beatles official website store and on Universal's on-line music store, pre-orders of the 1964 US albums are listed at $29.98 each, if you buy all six individually it will cost $179.88. The box set with the exclusive Beatles Story is listed at $299.98. Are they f@c%in' nuts? Charging $120 more for a box and a crappy album hardly anyone would buy if it was sold individually!
Capitol still wants to push their awful Early Beatles album with its 11 puny tracks when they should have just issued Please Please Me as it was originally. I Saw Her Standing There never belonged on Meet the Beatles as it was first released on Vee Jay. They did well to release Thank You Girl on Second Album, but buried From Me To You in obscurity, as well as two original compositions Misery and There’s A Place. I’m not opposed to the way they reconfigured the US releases, but in doing so, left some key tracks to anonymity. To avoid this, they should have added a 12th track to some of them.
You have to take into consideration how and when Capitol was able to get rights to certain tracks, like with THE EARLY BEATLES. For anyone growing up in the 60s, they were very happy with it. Nowadays purists are bogged down with semantics.
While it will be cool to see these reissued, I would pass on it since I already have most of the US LP's that I want with the majority being mono pressings. I would assume that there would be two separate sets one with the mono albums and the other with stereo albums. I also wonder if for the mono set they will use the fold down mono mixes for Meet TB and Second Album and if the stereo set will have some duophonic fake stereo mixes included on some of the records. What I really would like to see happen is for Apple to take a hint from ABKCO and do what they did with the 1960's UK mono LP's of the Rolling Stones. That is do a full analog vinyl box set of the groups UK mono LP's and maybe one of the stereo LP's as well and also sell them separately for those who either don't want all the albums or can't afford a box set.
@@MeanMrMayo No, it's because I LOVE you! You're a good guy, and even though Danny's an annoying douche, I watch you All the time! Keep up the good work, and YES!; when I was a kid, John was my favorite, but I've since moved to Paul!

The Beatles Story was a cash grab release in 1964… especially at the price of two LPs. It’s best left in the dustbin of history. I bought this album in the 80s when I was starting my Beatles journey and was bitterly disappointed by it. Listened to it once and never again. Sold it about ten years ago and was glad to be rid of it.
@@astrosjer822If you think The Beatles Story is good value for the money… either in 1964 or in 2024… then I’m happy for you. I’m not sure why you’re telling me not to express my opinion on it. It truly was Capitol’s way to cash in on Beatlemania in 1964, looking to create something else to sell to the fans while they waited for the group to write and record more music. Not content to just put out one LP, they spread it onto two LPs as it meant they could increase the price. That’s basically the definition of a cash grab. And now, if you want it in 2024, you have to pay $120 extra to get it. The box set is $300 and the six music LPs purchased individually comes to $180. I have the originals. I collected them one By One in 2008. It's how I first experienced the Beatles catalogue.
Ya “The Beatles Story” is a total novelty and yes you do have to buy the complete box set to get a this particular album.
The Beatles Story had to be in it. Also add the Original Butcher cover please is 2024 now it’s nothing just dolls and meat we’ve seen worse😁
thanks eliot for the update.steven.
Considering the price and that fact that these albums have like 12-13 minutes per side, I'm on the fence with this.
The choice is yours, but I go by quality over quantity.

I bought this one back in the 80's as well because I was a 'completest' back then. Still have it, so don't need another one.
