You know when that man walks onto the stage, in a Cheetah duster, over his pajamas, wearing a cowboy hat, and snakeskin cowboy boots, shit's fixin to get real. Stevie Ray, we love you and miss you here in Texas! 🤠❤🎸
Strolls out in a cheetah jacket and cowboy hat, yawns a couple times, picks his nose and then lights it up like no other. Good ‘l Stevie. I’m from Austin and saw him live several times and had the opportunity to chat with him a few times.. RIP SRV
The second song, "Ain't gonna give up on love", the vocals were down because the recording mic was in the main audience area, but they were mixing the stage monitors, not the FOH (Front Of House) speakers. You only hear Stevie's vocals at all because they are the floor monitors (wedges) bleeding back to the front.
Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton are a world class rhythm section and Reese Wynans is an amazing keyboard player. But, Stevie was SO good, they were overshadowed by the guitar greatness. The Humble Master, the King, the G.O.A.T., SRV.... RIP
There was no such thing as "just a warm up". Stevie had so much respect and love for the music that he played like it was the last time. Tommy Shannon, the bass player said "Stevie played like he was pouring his life out" He was and he did.💫⭐️🎸
If I'm not mistaken, I think this is a little later in his career after he had kicked his cocaine habit, gotten clean, tightened up and just started exploding onto the music scene even bigger than better than ever before.
SRV never did anything half way, even a soundcheck, wasn’t in his blood to just phone it in. The way the entire band goes from 0 to 100 at the drop of the hat, these guys were true professionals.
This was only his sound check, remember; Wow. That coat looks too hot to play in. The second song is "Aint gone and give up on love." Sure do miss him; damn helicopter. I really like your reactions and appreciation for music.
They were soundchecking the instruments so his voice was an added bonus despite singing without a mic working plus he'd b saving it for later lol A beast even in soundchecks....an just woken up! what a band..they stopped coz Reece's piano solo crashed wen his chair broke under him lol....they were so tight...a crime for sure wen Stevie was killed! Lucky someone was filming ...by chance by looks of it
@POPENYCO Thanks for your reaction. I subscribed. It's clear you love what SRV does. I definitely relate. Sound Check? My God! Unreal! Stevie Ray kills it even in what ostensibly is a sound check, lol! Anyway, I appreciated another commenter identifying the three songs Stevie Ray did in the video. I went looking for a video of a performance of the second song and found several... but one in particular you should check out for the vocals. It's a recording done at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis: ruclips.net/video/V6NHphqXdH8/видео.html NOTE: I really wanted to hear all the lyrics, and in some of the performances, I couldn't make out all the words. I found that even looking up the words at lyric sites, the written lyrics presented didn't always match what Stevie Ray seemed to be singing, especially the last few lines. I can understand that, though. With Stevie Ray really feeling it, he bends the lyrics to his will as easily as he does those heavy strings of his guitar, completely natural for someone like him, and especially when singing the blues. You can compare the words of the song on different lyrics sites, but here's one version of the words as close as I could discern them and tried to write them down as he sang: "AIN'T GONNA GIVE UP ON LOVE" I ain't gonna give up on love Love ain't givin' up on me I ain't gotta give up on love Love ain't gonna give up on me Every tear that I cry Only wash away the fears inside Now I, I ain't gonna give up on love Every beat of my heart Pounds with joy, not in pain Every beat of my heart Pounds with joy and not in vain And although those are painful memories Only brought me to my knees 'Cause I was givin' up on love Lookee here.... Little Johnny Taylor... Johnny said so long ago What about the midnight cryin' Woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh woah That cheatin' and lyin' What about the price that will Woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh surely be paid Those that gave up on love Love will surely have its day I ain't givin' up on love I ain't got to give up on love No matter what you say or do I ain't got to give up on love No matter what you say or do Every time I try Good Lord, love love won't won't let me... me... me NOTE: The phrase "Ain't Gone 'n'" in part of the title on different RUclips videos of this song and even in Googled lyrics probably should be spelled "Ain't Gotta."
🙌🙌👏👏😍🎸🎶‼️. Great reaction! I love your channel because of your sincere appreciation, enjoyment, and just plain joy in experiencing new music and artists. You are so open and seem to be soaking it all in like a sponge. Plus you have a great smile🥰. So SRV's soundcheck! The cat in the hat with a strat is what comes to mind. He had just rolled out of bed, still yawning and rubbing his eyes. But when he picks up the guitar he reunites with his missing piece and falls right in. He starts with "Scuttle Buttin", then "I'm ain't gonna give up on love", ( the one you wondered about, then finishes with "Say What". Partway through that last one the piano bench broke and Reese Wynans the keyboardist, crashed to the floor. That is why they stopped. The stage guys brings him something else to sit on and they pick right back up where they left off. Serious musicians and a true Band of Brothers. Stevie always insisted their performance fees be split equally which is unheard of but he wouldn't have it any other way. They were all very close. Welcome to the SRV rabbit hole!🎸🎶. I will enjoy your journey along with you✌️🦋
@@kerryknight228 thanks Kerry✌️. This "soundcheck" usually silences most people just from sheer amazement🎸 I love seeing young people discovering him‼️
Its like they used to say about Mickey Mantle, he could climb outta bed at 3 in the morning and hit a double to the gap. Stevie could shred like nobody else, even in his sleep. He had it like that.
Hahaha... piano mans chair broke he had to replace it with a trunk to set on! This is truly a Gem of a video. I think you would enjoy watching the video "STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN -TIN PAN ALLEY (WITH JOHNNY COPELAND)" Oh, and there is a video of him singing this song in front of an audience. "STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN - AIN'T GOING TO GIVE UP ON LOVE ( CAPITOL THEATRE (OFFICIAL)"
I read that he once tore off his right thumb naiil due to a hredding run, but since he was wasted on cocaine and vodka, he kept on!SRV was a beast!Gary Moore and SRV revived Blues for sure
Before he got clean he had cocaine mixed in whiskey for breakfast. He got killed in a helicopter crash in 1990. He had been clean 4 years and was playing better than he ever had.
Chill. That stoppage and laughter at 15:05 was the keyboardist losing one of his keyboards falling off the stand. Keep in mind, this is a sound check warm up that tends to be loose and never real serious for the talent.
Yeah I worked a couple shows with Stevie Ray stagehand one of them is at the Capitol Theater in Passaic probably seen the video life without you so I said to a couple of these sound checks second concert
I guess that's why they do a sound check. I really wanted to hear his voice in "Ain't Gonna Give Up on Love!" I think the keyboardist fell off the box he was sitting on...
It was filmed by someone who was there, not a tech crew. If this person didn't filmed it, we wouldn't have this incredible sound check. Remember, it's a sound check but could pass for his performance. INCREDIBLE
Like all good Rock shows you have a nice warm sound check first that's why you don't hear the mic up he's just running through his stuff. I can see you guys a sort of new to the game. The 18 minute preview is a warm-up soundcheck
Most of the guys I hear you playing are deceased but if you want to keep up with the same type of energy when you talking about blues check out the brother Eric Gale he's a left-handed black brother and he's awesome
Young man do some home work, I am a 61 year old great grand mother love love love the blues and southern rock. You must listen to Buddy Guy he is a goat for me. BB King, Eric Clapton, Allman Brothers Band, Warren Haynes, Joe Bahamas and I can name many more. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Beth Heart, just to get you started.
sound was probably decent but whatever was used to record was very primitive by todays standards,,,most likely back then would have been a cam corder/vhs,,most of which had really crappy mics/and sound, add to that ,the size of the room,,im amazed it sounds as good as it does, all things considered, great reaction
You gotta go back to the man that inspired all this , Robert Johnson, sold his self to the devil at the crossroads. SRV was a big fan of Jimmi and the Mississippi Delta blue's. BB King even said he was best he ever heard.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 Reece's bench broke. That's why they stopped the song. 🤣🎹 Only one cat could ever pull off an attire like that...cowboy hat, pimp coat, sweat pants and snake skin boots...Stevie F'ing Ray. 🙃
It's not the mic it's the people out front that are recording it at a lower tone it's hard to explain you have to be there I'm not calling anyone stupid it just back in the day technology is a little bit different than it is now so you're getting some of the side to filled front monitors back line you know the deal I've been doing it a lot of love for 40 years now just too damn technical I like the old school I don't like electronic drums I like to roll sound like John Bonham Ginger Baker Buddy Rich all those cats
You know when that man walks onto the stage, in a Cheetah duster, over his pajamas, wearing a cowboy hat, and snakeskin cowboy boots, shit's fixin to get real. Stevie Ray, we love you and miss you here in Texas! 🤠❤🎸
Can u imagine just getting out of bed and being able to play like this ? !
Only in my dreams...
Can you imagine being able to play like this period 😭😭😭😭
I'd play 3 notes and have to go back to bed.
Strolls out in a cheetah jacket and cowboy hat, yawns a couple times, picks his nose and then lights it up like no other. Good ‘l Stevie. I’m from Austin and saw him live several times and had the opportunity to chat with him a few times.. RIP SRV
Even when Stevie wasn’t trying to impress anyone he was impressive. His music was his oxygen.
I was lucky enough to see him play twice, been hooked ever since.
Blessed...💙💜💙
The second song, "Ain't gonna give up on love", the vocals were down because the recording mic was in the main audience area, but they were mixing the stage monitors, not the FOH (Front Of House) speakers. Finally, a Reactor with good taste to do this Epic video.
RIP…Miss you every day! Texas Pride!
Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton are a world class rhythm section and Reese Wynans is an amazing keyboard player. But, Stevie was SO good, they were overshadowed by the guitar greatness. The Humble Master, the King, the G.O.A.T., SRV.... RIP
Notice how quick the band falls in line seamlessly. They had so much continuity.
He just woke up. Reese broke his stool that was a good laugh
The song is - ain't gonna give up on love . Wish they had his mic turned up .
This man spent every moment of his youth practicing!
Never saw this whole video. Didn't know the last half existed.
Thank you.
right off the BAT! dang that first part.... he was from my neighborhood! the GOAT!
SRV never did anything half way, even a soundcheck, wasn’t in his blood to just phone it in. The way the entire band goes from 0 to 100 at the drop of the hat, these guys were true professionals.
Not bad for just getting up out of bed🛌🛌🛌🛌👑👑👑🎸🎸🎸
I agree turn up his mike!
This was only his sound check, remember; Wow. That coat looks too hot to play in. The second song is "Aint gone and give up on love." Sure do miss him; damn helicopter. I really like your reactions and appreciation for music.
I saw SRV 4 times.I wanted to go home and burn my guitars. The man was a monster.
He is the GOAT! PERIOD! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The three songs are scuttle buttin’ , ain’t gonna give up on love and say what
The piano player's stool broke during the organ solo. lol
HE JUST WOKE UP ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE THIS!!!!
Love that u love Stevie Ray.
Great reactions.
BB King said he was best guitarist he ever heard. That's high praise
The GOAT made it cry-
RIP ~ SRV
The dude makes me cry..
SRV❤️❤️❤️

What about the midnight cryin'
Woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh woah

What about the price that will
Woah-ohh woah-ohh woah-ohh surely be paid
Those that gave up on love
Love will surely have its day
I ain't givin' up on love
I ain't got to give up on love

Best night he ever played was night he died...and that never has been released outside of bootleg as far as I know to video.
Mic turned ALL the way up.....SRV Music Video (black hat//suit) or Capital Theatre..."Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love"".
Do it.
Chill. That stoppage and laughter at 15:05 was the keyboardist losing one of his keyboards falling off the stand. Keep in mind, this is a sound check warm up that tends to be loose and never real serious for the talent.

Love to see you react to LIVE Gary Moore , Roy Buchanon, Jeff Beck & Frank Zappa. Live is always the Best 👍 it's where the real musicians show up 🤘🤘🤘
