On the omtech, do you have to upload your files to the laser and then go to the machine to adjust the cut/engrave? Does this come with a camera? Nice video.
Nope. You do everything in the software. You can either start it from the software or send the design to the laser and press start on the control panel. However all the design and settings are done in the software.
They have a dedicated rotary plug in the front of the Y axis with a switch. Your piburn rotary will fit right in it as well without having to remove the honeycomb bed. I do show it briefly in the video.
Why do they continue to put a important thing like the amp meter in awkward places ? Stupid. That should be up top by the control panel. Wish the control panel could read the amperage and show it. But again in a stupid out of the way place. Good vid on it.
Id imagine a compressor driven air assist would be a pretty expensive upgrade for OMTech. I plan on upgrading as soon as I figure out how to bypass this smart card.
Great Video! The website mentions a “detachable design” that splits into 3 tiers… I was wondering if you can see how easy/difficult this might be to get it into smaller doorways etc?
I don’t think the website mentioned a detachable design. They showed a video that appeared to be in three pieces, but I could be wrong. Just don’t remember seeing it. However, this does NOT separate into three pieces and it’s extremely heavy. I’m a strong guy and I can barely pick up one end.
@@EdmondsWoodshop Ah I see the US website is abit different to the Australian site. The Aussie site has it pretty clearly written afew times as a selling point, but the only thing I could see on the normal US site is a quick 3 second video loop of it coming apart. I imagine its not an easy process with wiring running from the bottom unit the control panels etc... if it is even possible at all! I'm waiting on the 130W unit and I feel like finding a spot for it is going to be challenging!
I’m currently recording a setup video that will showcase some additional examples, but I will most likely showcase other materials as I use them on projects that I have to finish. These usually end up on instagram or in the FB group that I manage
Have you owned other OMTechs? I’m wondering if this new pronto line is an improvement over their past machines. I do not speak from experience but just basing it off of other owners.
I currently own the OMTech polar, the AF2028-80, 30w fiber and pronto all from OMTech. I’ve also had the MF2028-80z They AF2028-80 and the pronto are two different gantry/rail systems but you’ll get more space and performance from the pronto. The pronto is considered a mid level laser from OMTech with the pro series being their premium brand. Join our FB community. I’m engaging with folks in there every day . Does the cabinet come apart from the base to fit through a smaller door?
No. Not at all.
Sorry but it looks a whole lot... and I mean a WHOLE LOT like a cheap copy of a Thunder Laser.
No need to be sorry. I’m just here to share what’s new so people can make an educated decision
looks like they did a fairly decent job of copying a thunder nova series... kinda.
Unfortunately I don’t have a thunder to compare.
Good video, Cam! Wish I had room for this one. But my MF 2028 is taking up all of my space already. LOL
You and me both! My AF2028-80 is in my basement shop. The pronto now lives in the garage.
Great video. Question, is the port to plug in the rotary still in the back or did it get moved to a more accessible spot?

I don’t disagree. I use my mA meter for several reasons so having access to it is pretty important
Don't disagree either.
A neat looking machine. I wish the sides came off of my laser.
Like the panels?
So I doubt that this is a better solution
Since this is a new machine for OMTech, time will tell.
that's a very approach to focusing!
It’s different for sure. I imagine these will need to be wiped down often. Time will tell on the performance.
If you place the material front right corner, is it detected?
I’ll have to try. I’m sure as long as it passes the sensors path it’ll be fine.
I like a lot of the upgrades, still not sure about the aquarium type pump vs. a compressor

Great video! Cuts and engavings look nice. Will you be able to showcase some in-depth engraving and cutting examples on plywood and acrylic?

@@EdmondsWoodshop Awesome, will follow.
got any insight to the 150w Pronto availability?
As far as I’m tracking they just have an 80w and 130w available. Don’t know their shipping times.
I have guides like this on my 3d printer and I have to say that they wear out faster than normal guides...
Which guides? The drag chain guides? The gantry system?
Lineal rail

@@EdmondsWoodshopthanks for the response. I actually just requested to join this group a couple hours ago. Just waiting for that approval.
What’s the name? I don’t see any more requests? Make sure to answer all the questions or the auto assist will deny it
@@EdmondsWoodshop They accepted me. I guess they just had not gotten to it yet. I'll be exploring the page tonight. 👍
