This was the bridal entry to my wedding my lovely wife in 1965.
@Fermati Chebellosei
Older, of course. but still my very own loveliest !
Wow. La entrada de la reina de la casa❤
Merveilleuse ❤❤❤
This stunning playing is a reminder that this was always considered a serious instrument by composers, we have forgotten that.
It was at one time the one and ONLY flute. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, no. This is an arrangement, the original piece is not written for flute. Not to say this here isn't wonderful, it just isn't a reminder for anything.
Since Frans Bruggen the recorder is definively not forgotten in the Netherlands though , as is the historical practice of "oude muziek" on period instruments!
@@gemine4326ok, just enjoy the arrangement and that's it, don't just ruin it with your negativity and absolutely knowledge in music, which is very honorable. Just enjoy the piece. Simple as that.
@@lagelyta This isn't meant to decrease the value of this wonderful performance. I love this piece and have heard it probably 200 times as it is in my Spotify most listened playlist. I just don't like people spitting out thigs that are untrue just to say something.
I must’ve heard this piece 1000 times, but it’s a first time I ever heard it played with recorders, and it’s absolutely outstanding! How have I not heard this before? Well done ladies!
I once played it with an ensemble entirely made up of recorders. I seriously got the chills.
Maybe because one of those talented girls was only 14 at the time of this recording ☺
Stunning is right!! Bravo from Montreal!!
Pure heaven
Ditto. Marvellous!
there is such laser-like clarity, directness, purity of sound in those treble recorders in the right hands.
They are descant recorders
sopranos
@@jimmorgan5612 they are the same thing, it just depends on where you live. I believe in America most people say soprano and Alto whereas other countries say decant and treble.
Also they sound better because they're not shitty $10 lumps of plastic like the ones we used in school...
@@midgepug7897 well yes, but with the recorder it depends mostly on the player. you can play decently on a plastic recorder, too, if you're good. there are videos of professionals proving a point by playing on 5€ ones.
That recorder duet is world class. Well done Lucie and Charlotte.👍🏻
It really warms my heart to see modern adult people play a baroque piece.. it's so pure.
I used to dislike the recorder because the teacher was awful, but when I saw you playing, I realized how wonderful it is
Hannah I got a good teacher who said ''It's not a toy"
Like the ukulele, it's often seen as a fun instrument that's easy to play but difficult to master.
@@johnm2012 sadly a badly-played ukelele sounds like the wrong notes, whereas a badly-played recorder is ear-splitting.
You should listen to Vivaldi’s recorder concertos. They are awesome
Recorder is quite good instrument. I used to play it when I was at primary school. It's trivial - you only need to know grips. The sound is clear and able to change dynamics.
They attacked this with vigor, enthusiasm, and love. Bravo.
Bravi*
@@tecnomusicevo if you want to get technical it would be "brave", since it's two ladies ;) but in any case, they're amazing!
@@inesdeerausquin5658 yeah but it's bravi because I'm referring to the entire orchestra (i musicisti sono stati bravi), I'm Italian I think I know my language 🤣
Playing baroque music with a recorder is unusual, but these two ladies Handeled it.
Oooh! I sold my 3 recorders and I wish, I hadn´t.
You know what I liked best about this wonderful interpretation? The young people playing their parts! This is how classical music lives on, when young people become captivated by the masterpieces of past masters, they then go on to learn how to play different musical instruments. Big, huge, WOW!!!!!❤
I finally see the recorder as a real musical instrument! ❤️
An outstanding performances by all, especially by the recorders they bring a special kind of 'brilliance and liveliness' to this piece. Clearly they all enjoyed playing together and we, as listeners reaped the benefit. Thanks for sharing. Well done each and everyone of you. Loved it.
Crisp and sprightly tempo...recorder players are simply outstanding. Lovely to the ear and mind. Thank you for your virtuosity.
Truly outstanding. First time I heard Charlotte play. To hear Lucie and Charlotte together is just sublime.
A great team.
this piece is something else with recorders, the oboes normally just end up being muffled by the violins, but the recorders stay nice and clear, brilliant
I remember when I signed up for RUclips and searched for recorders - there weren't any so I posted some very amateurish videos of me playing my ones - now 10+ years on we have these fabulous videos! Recorders are wonderful and very underappreciated instruments! This is beautifully played!
You should check put viva vivaldi with cicilia bartoli (sp?)

Here's something very different, Rhapsody ruclips.net/video/zuu5_tO1EG8/видео.html
I think I must have seen your video, because when I first came on RUclips, that's about all there was for recorders!
I gave it a like just out of principle.
@@yugandali thanks! I don't post much anymore! I'm not professional at all, just sad that there were hardly any recorder videos at the time!
Amazing how so few instruments can sound like so many. Good to see such enthusiastic young players.
Listen to the phrasing, the expression, the blend, the depth of performance...everything is here. GF Handel would be pleased to hear this rendition.
Agreed!
Big love from Sheba (Yemen) I love it
My cat also loves Sheba!!!
@@luganikos249 really hahahah
@@queenofshebayemen9637 It's the best catfood in Switzerland!!!
@@luganikos249 Aha I understood 😋
What? You’re still there???
How on 🌎 can anybody give them thumbs down!!! As a jazz/latin recorder player I respect and admire these two young ladies on the classical art form.... Very impressive.
Just stumbled across this video. It has taken my breath away.
Hi. I really love baroque music, expecially Händel. I send my greetings to Lucie and all of you who played this beautyful piece. Many greetings from Hungary. 😀😉👋🇭🇺
When I think about the work that goes into playing pieces like this, I am so happy to see young people putting in the work, my own failed attempts to,learn instruments aside it is nice t nhear the classics live on in the young musicians
World-class. Often heard but never in this clarity.
Thanks for everyone's skills to bring this alive.
I've lost count how many times I've listened to this joyful performance. Enjoyed the recorders and the string section especially.
Ten of thousands of hours of practice and patience has brought our ears this and all the other performances that we now love and listen to over and over again!
Great! It’s just marvelous, the sound of the hall, the video quality and obviously a great interpretation of all the musicians. Brilliant!
Judging by all the icons that looks like an orthodox church rather than just a hall.
But yes, wonderful performance!
@@doristheslug9609 It's the (High Anglican) church of St-Jude-on-the-Hill, Hampstead Garden Suburb, London - designed by Lutyens.
TB, I agree that it's just marvellous, EXCEPT for one aspect of the video. On many occasions when both recorders are in view and being played, Lucie is in focus but Charlotte is slightly out of focus, even if she is in the foreground. I realise that the video is promoting Lucie's album, but this is poor camera work.
Two of the best young recorder players, playing together. So cool
A pity that Lucie couldn't even acknowledge the presence of the other recorder player.
I would have thought it was warm, much more than cool.
The entire group was fantastic and the way the two ladies played the recorder was beautiful! It is like the recorder was and extension of their voices. Just beautiful!
The recorder is said to be the closest instrument to the human voice
Wunderbares Stück mit tollen Musikern! 🎉🎶🎶
How beautiful. How can a human mind compose such fantastic music, it is a wonder. And performed with world class virtuosity❤❤❤
The sound of their Recorders is out of this world, and stains in my soul
This performance captures the exuberance and excitement of an event Handel was describing - the best I have seen. A reference performance imo. The recorders are extraordinary. Thanks.
Thank you, Ms. Horsch and Ms. Barbour-Condini. This makes my jaded old ear happy.
I almost didn't watch this because it said " recorders" in the title. Seldom have I seen such a delightfully refreshing rendition of this piece! I absolutely loved it! Well done 🎶🎻
Greetings from South Africa 👋🇿🇦
Hi there... Look!! I too am from Southern Africa. How do you do?

There are some brilliant recorder players in Cape Town
Yes, stunning is the right word. Wonderful playing, all of you!
Dear gifted young artists. How deeply delightful, to listen to this racy performance! I've been affectionated with baroque music for more than 25 years but I've never heard a recorder transcription of Handels Arrival of the Queen of Sheba before. This, in notes and play, is real mastership!
An absolutely brilliant performance. Vigorous, masterful work by all. What a blessing!
One of my favorite pieces of music and I've never heard it arranged for recorders before. Just love the recorders!
I never would have thought recorders could sound so good. I just remember them as an instrument from school that nobody could play. Wonderful rendition.
I used to look on it as a toy, but this is fabulous
So happy to see Ms Charlotte B Condini moving up, the winner of a recorder competition some years ago
The faces of all the performers are so serious and passionate and focused that I'm about to cry.
Just looking at your expressions makes me feel numb.
Having learned to play the recorder at school ( about a hundred years ago ) I’m so impressed by the two young ladies playing this difficult piece with such skill, so very talented.
Both girls play very good the recorders. Congratulations!!
This song makes me feel the happiest person in the world. It feels like everything is possible.
I feel transported to the stars by the sheer magnificence and beauty of the music.
That's purely baroque, congratulations! 👏👏👏
It’s so gratifying to see so many energetic young people in-sync with Baroque Musick even down to the use of the pre-1773 bows - it is regrettable that we don’t see as many examples as this in these days of ‘insolent pop music noise’ among to-day’s woefully ignorant younger generation - May this small example from the great Handel be an example to them of what they COULD be listening-to !!
Agree.
Brilliant performance.
Love how you see a few musicians smiling as the music is truly uplifting.
Then at the end the Ms. Horsch herself is so concentrated still that she keeps a pokerface.
And the violinist at the left has frozen.
Yes, BRAVO! This performance is amazing.❤
heard it thousand times, so young and vibrant. 11 out of 10. Fantastic!
Beautiful. Love the vibe the recorders put in it. Absolutely fantastic 👏👏👏👏😊😊
What a wonderful performance. So intense and alive.
So beautiful!!! My favorite piece of music just breathtaking.
Absolutely breathtaking, the whole ensemble was brilliant.
Regards from South Africa
What a remarkable performance by the young ladies & their recorders
Just found this beautiful rendition of Handle, what a lifting feeling from theses dark times, long live mankind's lifting music
Lucie en Charlotte.
Pracht werk meisjes.
I've heard this melody so many times, yet never known the name until now. Fabulous performance!
Quel esprit lyrique et dansant ! C'est vraiment une très belle interprétation !
To me those most amazing sounds portray the beauty of the earth we live in, far beyond the greatness of the queen of sheeba.
Wonderful, thanks for your good music, your playing style well and good 100%🌴🌳🌾
This is the most uplifting performance of this piece I've ever heard.
Jakie tempo, wow...!😮👋👌🎼🎵🎶🌹
This wonderful performance embodies embodies the spiritual aesthetics of Handel and the world of the Old Testament
Who could have thought the recorder could sound so good !!
Back in school, the kids learning recorders caused an unholy din which permeated throughout the building. Put me off for life right up until I heard this. You both are wonderful players and have proven the instrument can sound wonderful in the right hands.
Herr Handel would be delighted to hear his fabulous music thus rendered, I'm sure!
In a single word, "Wowissimo". The clarity, articulation and interpretation really excel on all accounts.
Wowissimo mi ha fatto morire ahahagaga
wah, this gives me tears its so beautifully done. Love it with the recorders and the fact that the winds are much louder then most other versions. 10/10!
What a talent, I could listen to Lucie all day.
That. Is. Superb! Outstanding! Love the recorder ladies!
Wonderful - thank you all for the music! 🙂
What a glorious sound. Congratulations to all involved
This is fantastic. The interaction between the two of you is amazing too. It's always great to see musicians enjoying what they do.
What a joyful performance! So beautiful, thank you from America!
The recorders are fantastic! Such tuning and feeling of ensemble. I'm taken aback by this version - it's amazing!
Love the piece and the performance, but I also love that everyone is dressed casually. While formal clothes certainly look nice, it's good to be reminded that this music wasn't always a Very Serious Thing, but was enjoyed by everyone.
Bravo Ladies ...... WELL DONE !!!!!!
Incredibly wonderful. Thanks so much for posting. What a great way to start the morning. So uplifting.
Que trabalho impecável..! Bravíssimo..! From a flutist, in São Paulo, Brazil..!💚💛😉👍
Although I truly adore the original oboe, these recorder players make an incredibly good version too. Congrats!
I'm speechless. Lucie Horsch is just incredible..One of the greatest aces I have ever heard...
Instrumental joy! Great performance. Greetings from Sweden
this is truly fantastic ! Thankyou to you both and the orchestra!
My wife had me adopt this as my official "Birthday Song". Been listening to it for years, but this is the BEST version I've ever or will ever hear. This is now my OFFICIAL version!!!
Phenomenal playing - who could vote against such beauty.
Oboe players and fans. But if they kept an open mind they should agree that the recorder version really is sublime.
Wat een feest om hier naar te kijken en te luisteren, genieten met kippenvel! Dankjewel Lucie voor deze prachtige uitvoering.
Good! the solos and the duets something from heaven!!!!
Oh , this is wonderful. What brilliant playing!!!
That was WONDERFUL!
I've heard orchestral and organ versions of it but never anything like this!
What a refreshing tonic!
Excellent performance. Very informal, but very sophisticated. The more I listen, the more I love this performance.
i give you as a musicien all my good feelings,Great Yhank You all!!
gorgeous blends of strings and winds, composer's lyrics and refrains - ty for posting!
Some may think it's easy to play a recorder, but to play it WELL? That's a different story. It requires the same discipline as any other instrument. These 2 are amazing. I have also heard this piece many times, but this version is fresh, spirited, and VERY emotional. To the soloists and the Academy of Ancient Music, brava, bravo, muy bien hecho.
Most of us found out that it's very easy to make a lot of noise with a recorder.
But anyone playing any piece on a recorder properly, deserves all the praise they will get.
Es ist ein Vergnügen zuzusehen, wie spielerisch leicht Lucie die Stücke präsentiert. Mit Higabe, Liebe und Freude - einfach herrlich 🙂
It's not just their brilliant playing... it's such a GOOD choon, isn't it !?
The most beautiful sound in the world
