For those who want to know: The homing spike balls only fly in Mario Bros. and Mario 3 night ground theme. But it follows you in all 2D versions, but only while rolling on the ground. Spike balls out of pipes, question and note blocks won't fly. Spike balls thrown from a Spike that comes out of one of these will fly.
0:38 I think what happens is that the snowball can't roll forward ON the fast conveyor but when it ends up off it, it quickly rolls back onto the conveyor. By the way, the Night ground theme is just basically "cursed magic".
