I've always assumed that after the series is over we will still be able to argue on who Azor Ahai is, Jon or Dany or whoever.
And GRRM will laugh at us because in his mind it was some random secondary character the whole time.

Super late on this but I was rereading storm of swords and in jaimes dream sequence, he seemed very much like Jaime targaryen, the last hero who will fight the darkness with bright roar and perform his final act for mankind when he strangles his royal sister for corrupting the realm as a night queen esque figure (she is already raising the dead). This seems to both make sense in terms of reflecting the tale of the last hero using his lovers breast to quench the hope of men, and the valenquar prophecy circe hears. It would also allow the targaryen twins to die together as they came into the world and has the same tragic undertones Jaime has had since he was introduced. I actually really think this tinfoil will turn out to be valerian steel

I’m thinking as I watch this (and it seems pretty confirmed that Jon and Dany end up together even in the books) maybe the ice cold member Dany dreams of is Jon’s after his resurrection into a fire weight? This could put an interesting twist on Mirri’s prophecy that Dany will never have another living child. Maybe Jon does get her pregnant, but the child they have is not technically alive and is part weight as well. Although I wouldn’t expect the child to live long, I think it would likely be some kind of bargaining chip or sacrifice to end the long night. The child is the song of ice and fire.

Sir or Miss don't listen to the show version of prophecies they change many of prophecies. In the start of show the Witch says Dany wouldn't child until the Mountain fall etc. In end of joke of series, she no children whatsoever. They change Cersi story too by delete the little brother prophecy.

47:00 I never visualised Brienne as ugly. I see her more as not meeting the Westerosi conception of "classical beauty." I feel she is quite beautiful in a more unconventional sense. Because she doesnt have Cersei/Margaery style beauty, she is constantly called "ugly" because people are cruel like that. And of course Brienne has come to believe it after being tormented her whole life.

It’s interesting how you reference Harry Potter in the prophecy question as it’s quite explicitly stated by Dumbledore that prophecy only matters to people who put stock in it. Would the HP prophecy be fulfilled if it wasn’t heard? There are loads of prophecies within the hall of prophecy that no one had heard or acted upon.
Matched GRRM with the idea that it’s it the prophecy itself but the reaction to it

Every Prophecy is a sword with two edges no safe place to grab it . Dosh khaleen see the stalion who mounts the world in the flames and Miri Maz Dur try to for stoles that and ends up fulfilling the prophecy. Melisandre see in the flames Renly smashing Stannis at King’s Landing and kills him,her action have direct result exactly what she sees in her flame…She see daggers in the dark and send Pink Leter to Jon in what she believes is saving him but ends up fulfilling that prophecy…Maggy the Frog say to Cercy about the Younger more beautiful Queen and her direct actions end up with the death of her last child Tommen (in the show) …Dany will do the same with her visions in the house of the undying

Except using long sword by gripping the blade was a common practice. It's called half-swording. It was used to better pierce mail, providing a more stable and power point of pressure.

Hey community, correct me if I'm wrong. Having not read the books, only watched videos on the Dunk & Egg series, wasn't it Baelor Breakspear who was killed in the trial by seven? Robert said Maekar (who is Egg's father, I believe), not for the first time and it always confuses me when he says it. Cause didn't he (Maekar) become King eventually? 🤷🏾‍♀️
Great stream as always though. Keep the great work coming!

Can we discuss possible house marriage arrangements that might happen in the books and one's that would just be fun to think about? For example: What if Robb Stark had not needed the Frey marriage alliance and instead was able to marry say Margaery Tyrell. Catelyn Stark was there the night Renly was murdered...what if she was able to broker a marriage arrangement with House Tyrell? Or Loras to Sansa (I know they were trying to get Sansa and Arya back...but these are what ifs)?
    Possible characters to discuss.....
Robb Stark (if he had survived/different path)
    Jamie Lannister
    Daenerys Targaryen
    Sansa Stark
    Arya Stark
    Rickon Stark
    Petyr Baelish
    Tyrion Lannister
    Cersei Lannister
    Tommen Lannister
    Myrcella Lannister
    Lancel Lannister
    Tywin Lannister
    Roose Bolton

A prophecy does not have to come true. The ancient Greek word προφήτης, he who speaks, places the emphasis on the person giving it NOT the message itself. It seems to me that GRRM is more interested in literary foreshadowing and it's fulfillment in the story.
