- Previz for a new Deus Ex cel-shaded animated fanfilm I've been working on for a few years now, focusing on the events in the computer game where JC Denton has to escape UNATCO prison and fight off against Anna Navarre.
This is a playblast straight out of Autodesk Maya using temp character models in layout animation form to get the story beats across, with a rough audio pass using temp music and synthesized dialogue audio.
There's a lot of work still needed to help get this short film made, hopefully this video will inspire artists to want to help out.
Extra Work Needed:
Character Animation
Voice Acting
Music
Sound Effects
Visual Effects
Background Art
I never thought we'd ever see the sequel to the Ton fight after so many years
Even in unfinished state it looks impressive!
Absolute genius. Perfect directing and powerful imagery.
The kill phrase twist was brilliant. That's the type of shit that needs to find its way into a proper remake.
Calling it now, you should get Gianni Matragrano to do JC Denton.
No way, now he can just have an AI perfectly replicate it for free
@@Stoonk That's a pretty common misconception, the AI is actually paid. Yes, there's a free version, but it doesn't have enough lines for even a quarter of this.
@@LordTrashcanRulez LOL there is more than enough free lines for this video, especially when you can simply change browsers and use a vpn to keep getting it for free
@@Stoonk Pretty sure you need to login, though?
@@Stoonk eh, it will lack the general ability to give lines the right emotion.
The fucking text to speech Anna Navarre killed me
So awesome to see you still making content for this Beautiful game.
That's a really nice callback to the cover art.
What a treat!
I've seen your work ages ago on Machinama, really didn't except to find this in the feed.
Really appreciate the upload 👍
All the best.
This animation was so badass!!! Choreography and dialogue was amazing! (That Russian accent tho XD) Can't even imagine that this isn't even the final product.
Interestingly, in the original concept art for Anna Navarre, she was supposed to have a machine gun in-built into her arm. Not sure if the addition of the Maxine gun was a reference to that or if it was your own idea. Either ways it was a really badass and unexpected moment.
Very atmospheric, and the action sequences look amazing.
Can't wait for the final product, keep up the great work!
Absolutely Kino
It looks really good for layout, except the text to speech is really weird even for beta, I don't know about a text to speech website that's this weird in voice. But overall amazing, as always
Yes dude! That is awesome
Oh hecc, he's back.
You're a genius.
To think this can result in the final products you have delivered.
The two other fan films look like a show that could've been around in the mid two thousands.
It's so good already :)
Great to see another Deus Ex fan film in the making and for adding a twist that has Navarre's killswitch disabled beforehand. Should a Deus Ex remake happen, I wonder if that game would fully explain how killphrases work. Jaime Reyes' brief explanation about killphrases didn't inform me much in the original game.
The electronic piece of music at 1:01, if possible, should make it to the final cut - it just oozes the "escape from.." energy and fits overall DX setting perfectly!
authentically deus-ex (ness)
Holy crap, this is amazing man! Great action and choreography.
I need whole movie man ! your DX fanfilms are sou epic !
omfg! so happy ogdx is getting love!!!
Damn wow that's incredible
Can't wait!
I've subbed! Great idea with that kill-phrase twist!
Love what you are presenting here. I do hope word spreads and you get some extra help.
Also, I noticed that JC took down Navarra using a similar tactic to how Paul almost took down Gunther in the other video.
My vision is augmented
So we're gonna get another one, awesome!
damn sick
This simply rocks
Good job, I look forward to more.
AJ
We need more of these!
Next could be the JC vs Gunther fight in Paris
Amazing work as always, Leo! And ayyyy, DX Zodiac music! Where can one audition for VA? My voice has changed a lot since the 'Ton video days 😁
Cheers! Yep, I thought I'd use the old Zodiac and RedSun music from the mods as placeholder stuff, at least until someone wants to write a score for this 😁
And I've added my contact info to the About part of my RUclips channel, glad you mentioned that actually as I haven't updated it in ages😅 Feel free to send some dialogue audio that way 🙂
@@LeoTierney Will do when I get the chance! I actually have the original video and audio from the 'Ton video since you kindly sent me the DVD of that one back in the day, it's vintage ;)
Really nice.
Great stuff!
Great work.
keep going you're awesome
The way JC killed her made him look like a horror movie villain 😆
This is great
fucking *sick*, so hyped
I've no idea how to do this kind of animation and i like the way has been done, however if it can be made slightly more fluid and change the voice with IA clone i believe it will be a top video.
LOL!!!! Disabled killphrase!
You kind of feel sorry for Gunther at the end 😥
That already looks amazing, even in its unfinished state. If you need some help with voice acting, maybe I can be of some help. Abuse my own often-monotonous speaking patterns to closely convey JC's way of talking.
Cheers! Always happy to hear auditions, send some samples to my email and I'll have a listen 😊
You didnt meet Gunther on your way out did you?
No... not yet.
I hope nova voices JC again
WOWWWWWWWWWW
The second music track sounds more like System Shock 2 than Deus Ex.
JC vs Gunther o_o
Did JC not rescue Miguel too? ;-;
Kinda wondering if JC met Manderly on his way out but understandably the focus is on the Anna fight
Was kinda expecting a neck snap to finish it
Make more and more videos , add those retro musics . 🥳
really a shame that you used text to speech, especially with that accent for Navarre, it makes it look like a YTP, else it's really cool
I think it makes it more entertaining. If it was the finished product, it would've been a bit more questionable.
Is this.. hand drawn? In some it genuinely looks like it compared to the 3d films.
horrible
