Hi, thanks for filming, editing and posting. In previous vids I have watched, you have been controlling long columns of pigs, but for most of this video - it was solo ones. This shows results for your work. Well done and please keep it up.
Whilst there is some effect in selected areas, it is also alot harder getting good footage in areas with reasonable tree height / density- quite often the pigs don’t stay together and you end up with disjointed footage with alot of chasing and less shooting. I’ll put a video up in the coming days to demonstrate 👍👍
Excellent marksmanship as always. I am curious to know what drives the decision to use the 12ga versus the 308? Is there some kind of environmental factor that influences what option you choose on the day?
I've been watching a lot of Jack Out The Back recently, and his fight to control the camels on the land he works. I note that you're using semi-automatic weapons and he has to use pump action weapons (still a lovely Wedgetail!) . Is there a reason for this? Is it a licencing thing? Individual state legislation? Cheers!
I live in the same State as Jack and happen to know him personally. The reason is simply that politicians (especially here) are idiots. They are irrationally terrified of semi-autos, suppressors, folding stocks and much more. We all know these things are safe and practical and can be used responsibly, yet they assume the guns will leap up on their own and cause mayhem. As I said...idiots.
Tidy shoot mate. Love the turtle protectwork work. I did the turtle rescue training a few years ago. What is the (slightly less) general AO of this task?
You were so nice to answer my question on a previous clip. I have one more and I promise not to bother you anymore ..... Is this working? It "looks" effective. But, is it? Are the numbers down in a significant way? I hope so. I think it is impossible to controll feral hogs in America. Just like the Burmese python in the Florida Everglades and the lionfish in the Caribbean. Thank you. I tapped the thumbs 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters. They gotta eat, too.
Pigs are smart. By some accounts, they're as smart or smarter than dogs. Do you find that the pigs modify their behavior now that they're being hunted from the air? Are they getting smarter?
Yes that is a pretty regular occurrence. They have to be admired as an intelligent and adaptable animal- they learn fast. Boars regularly stand still in shade hoping they won’t be seen whereas with mobs you quite often find they will be moving for cover at the first hint of aircraft noise.
And you’d be completely wrong. More firearms here in Oz than before, just that the types of weapons you have has to match the licence you have. Google it, do some research, ok? Cheers,
Differing timeframes. Feral pigs have been established in Australia for a significant period of time ( essentially since settlement) but their range continues to expand.

Has got a deflector rear of the ejection port inclusive of a deflector brake. These rifles are also gas tuned to eject flat and forwards. Obviously every semi ejects differently but no required for a plate on these AR10s.
Different laws, semi-autos come under Category C and D firearms which very few people have that category of license. Basically you need to be a contract shooter for feral pest control like Nathan in the video is.
@Skuxxdluxe Thanks for an informative reply. Different hemispheres and different planets when it comes to firearm ownership. I use my .223 AR for groundhog hunting with hand loads. The hogs are hard on building foundations and farm equipment in the fields. Again, thanks.
Also, have you tried 556 loads (i realize its a 308 you are using)? I wonder how many 1 shot kills you could get with 556 considering your excellent shot placement. I bet 55 grn soft point 556 would work surprisingly well, especially from a 20 inch barrel.
So the big Aussie weapons ban is negated by paying a government tax? btw, you guys lost the War on Emus, do you think you'll fair better against the swine? Best wishes.
Totally protected. The indigenous locals are usually allowed to collect a quota of the eggs, many of which end up in specialized crocodile farms, to restock" their "ponds". Crocodiles bred in captivity are legally allowed to be "processed" for meat and hides. Croc meat: The other, other white meat. Available in selected supermarkets and delicatessens. A bit bland on its own, but diced into 1 inch cubes, it goes well in a Thai green curry..

Firearms have never been banned here in Oz, those are lies spread by the NRA in the USA, there are more firearms here today than in 1996 after the Port Arthur massacre. Anyone in Australia can apply for a firearm licence (except people with a criminal record, or a history of mental illness). But you must have a ‘valid’ reason, such as sport/target shooting, hunting, collector, farmer, professional pest control, etc. Self defence is not a valid reason (we have the police for that).
