Also, could you make a video on putting a patina on a pair of shoes with shoe creams and wax polish only? I would like to see how far cream polishes can go.
I have a small challenge. I will never say you don't do an excellent job polishing shoes. Definitely one of the best I've seen. With that said, I'd like to do you do the same kind of mirror shine on a pair of police duty boots. The leather grain is much more porus and a bit of a challenge. I'd like to see what you can do. I work with and shine Bates Enforcers. They don't have a cap. Really open pores. It would be entertaining to see what you could do.
Working over Covid, I managed to spill an unbelievable amount of alcohol hand gel on my brown leather shoes. It was like acid, eating right through the surface of the leather, leaving dark brown stains just like your clients example. Prosecco has the same effect it seems.
Great show and great channel. Saying Hello from Puerto Rico. Thank you for sharing with us mortals your wisdom. I myself have learned a lot and my first two mirror shine have been succesful. I watch your channel every day. Keep it up.
I know you do mostly shoes but I think you could get some unbelievable view numbers if you did some iPhone leather case videos of the different brands such as bullstrap andar and apple, trying to do patina, wax and or mirror shines to find the best quality leather between brands and finally get to the bottom of what manufacturer uses the best leather on these cases.
You should give pure polish a try you'll love it and you should get a pair of Grant Stone Oxfords the quality is above that of Allen Edmonds for $100 less the price
I think Grant Stone makes great shoes. Definitely Alden level for less money. I know the owner of Pure Polish. I think Andy makes a good product but I just didn’t think it’s as good for mirror shines after I tried it.
Your videos are so informative and instructional . . . thank you! I just used your technique to get a mirror shine on a pair of Allen Edmonds that I have in dark chili and it came out beautifully . . . what a difference! Thank you again and continued good luck on your channel. I just subscribed as I'm just now getting into higher end shoes.
Hey Michael. I never use edge dressing for brown. It’s always opaque and covers the edge with an artificial brown. For black that’s not a problem but for brown I tend to go with brown dye, since it’s transparent and then I just use wax or neutral edge dressing from Allen Edmonds.

Hello! I am just wondering how you started the client gives you shoes and you fix them. Hi Preston, love your videos, very informative. I'd like to understand what the alcohol and water mix does for the shine? What is a good ratio? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Great job as always, although I must say I'm not a fan of the glassy toe look. I'd prefer the finish the rest of the shoe had on the toe.. but they do look great! Preston- have you ever encountered a shoe finish that is very susceptible to water marks. I have a pair of cognac brogued captoes and every small drop of water blanches the finish. I have to reapply shoe cream after every wearing. I’ve polished waxed many times. Any thoughts?
I have heard that Kiwi Shoes polish is 85-95% as good as Saphire, However, Kiwi does have parade Gloss, do you know how to apply Kiwi Parade Gloss to a pair of black capped Oxford's? That looks 99% the same as Saphir's Mirrror Gloss?
Greetings, I have a question. I have a pair of black capped Oxford (pointed toe) and just past the cap, there are what looks like burn/blistering, can they be repaired with polish? They are full Goodyear welted and the heals are nailed!
