I believe the story of the Caitlyn Snow Killer Frost is through some accident she gained ice powers, but has to drain the heat from other sources to survive, often having to resort to people much to her own dismay. She became obsessed with Firestorm because he seems to be the only source of heat she can reliably feed off of consistently without killing them, but I'm no expert either and could be wrong here
Hi Mr Rogues. Sorry that I haven't been sending comments to you because I was with other things and also catching up with your recently released videos. You suggested the Icicle may have been the first ever freeze-ray super-villain. Can’t say whether or not that’s true myself, but I’m almost totally certain that the basis for the freeze-ray trope was created by - who else? - Jules Verne. In his 1879 novel *Les Cinq cents millions de la Bégum* (“The Begum’s Fortune”), munitions magnate and proto-Aryan supremacist Professor Schultz* creates cannon shells filled with liquid carbon dioxide, which not only poison the surrounding area but also freeze-dry every living being within the immediate vicinity when launched. His intended target is an experimental utopian (by the standards of the 19th century social mindset, anyway) community built by his distant cousin via marriage, a French physician named Sarrasin, whose frozen corpse he plans to set up on display in his own armaments factory. This projectile becomes his undoing, naturally: While a super-cannon is being repaired after a failed attempt with a normal explosive shell, the CO2 shell rolls off of Schultz’s desk and explodes, instantly freezing Schultz solid in his own study. Or maybe he was turned into another frozen man like Victor Fries but is trapped immobilized by all the ice. Makes for a nice Elseworld story, huh? *Also, one of if not the earliest mad scientist with criminal and/or imperialistic motives.
Great video. This is my top 5 Themes I think you should do in the near future: 5. swamp monster; 4. cyborg; 3. bug; 2. ghost; 1. demon. I be awaiting for you in Arkham!
I should read Thunderbolts; I might like him more. Cryo-Man, eh? The old Outsiders villain? I read his story A LONG time ago... I might do a forgotten villains video on him some time.
Thanks for introducing me to the original Killer Frost. While I do like her current design, that wonderful ballroom dress that makes her look like a beautiful ice sculpture is absolutely amazing.
Well this video left me shivering with joy. Anyways, in response to what you said at the beginning of the video, there actually is one other Ice-themed villain Marvel has made, that being Ymir the first Ice Giant.Though he could technically be argued as not being a Marvel character as he originates from Norse Mythology instead of Marvel Comics, I still think he's worth mentioning.
If you want to get technical, Mr. Freeze does have powers. In Batman Beyond, Mr. Freeze's disembodied head reveals that he is practically immortal (which was also discussed in Freeze's second appearance in TAS). Also, Freeze can survive in cold environments. This can be considered a power because it's something that most people cannot do.
Continue the series! I love this channel and I think this is a great series to get some much needed growth, regardless of the numbers this specific video adorns
Great video as always. I have to wonder if you know about this strange and compelling little tidbit about Mr. Freeze. In 1984 Mike Barr created a character to combat Batman and the Outsiders in issue #6 of their first series called Cryonic Man. Here's the description his comic vine page gives: "Cryonic Man uses his cryogenic devices to get the necessary organs for his wife at the expense of anyone's life." Sound familiar? I just find it interesting that Paul Dini basically gets all the credit for reinventing Victor Fries when I'm sure he had found this comic somewhere and decided to adopt it for their version of the character. It's simply too good of a coincidence. Anyways, just thought I'd point it out,
Yes, I read that comic long ago, in a B&W Showcase volume. I don't remember just how similar it was to Freeze, but it does sound pretty damn similar... It's possible he based his Freeze on Cryonic Man, but then again that story is pretty obscure, so who really knows.
You should check out the 2nd blizzard in Thunderbolts, he’s a pretty cool dude in there. Also for more of Caitlyn snow try justice league vs Suicide squad and the following jla
What a chilling idea. Blizzard isn't so well know because towards the end of his run he was pretty much treated as a joke. Last comic I saw him in he, Whiplash, and the Melter all hit Ironman at once, and Ironman just ignored it. As for Captain Cold I don't know if it's still part of his personality, but they used to have a thing where he'd get obsessed over some woman, and try to woo her. As to your question, well right off the top five gorillias sounds like the best idea. Somehow I doubt Congorillia will make the list.
I want to say that I used to Like Killer Frost, but on second thought, what I really liked was her design aesthetic with the pearls and the gown, very much in the vein of Andersen’s The Snow Queen or (for modern audiences) Queen Elsa-gone-evil. The current versions have since gone the way of “stripperific” costumes inspired by Image Comics artwork, or a female version of some of the variant appearances of MORTAL KOMBAT’s Sub-Zero. I was first exposed to the Icicle in the pages of DC Comics’ WHO’S WHO #11, the same issue spotlighted the Joker (well-rendered by Marshall Rogers) and also introduced me to the likes of the Inferior 5, Johnny Thunder, and the various Injustice groups of DC’s publishing history. Yeah, he’s a typical cold-themed super-villain, possibility of being the archetype notwithstanding, but again I liked his visual appeal. Most such villains have blue outfits with white accessories in a kind of ice pattern, but his was all white and icy. Sure, artist Paris Cullins drew him with his legs akimbo as if he’d just gotten off a long ride on horseback, but he still looked cool (pun unintended) and had an originally looking ray gun, what with the odd discus attachment on the top.
Mr. Rogues X-mas Special Well done. I definitely agree that Jack Frost change his name to something more original. So many people have called themselves that... Michael Keaton and Martin Short among them.
I like the Gil version of Blizzard. He has a cool costume and he tried to reform and become a superhero (but of course, he became a villain again, because writers can't leave well enough alone). I don't know if I call KF the second weak, at least in terms of her motivation. She wanted revenge in Fire Storm for "murdering" her mentor. How is that weak? Speaking of Killer Frost, could you dona top 5 best stories for her in the future?
Well, it wasn't entirely Firestorms fault; it's been a while since I read those comics, but what I remember, Crystal was dying anyway, and wanted it all to end. Louise kinda lost that motivation too later, as she began to drift around the DC universe following the cancellation of the Firestorm book. I might do a top 5 best Frost stories at some point; to tell the truth, I've been thinking about that for a while. One reason I made this video was so that I could talk about her - and Icicle - without having to dig through a ton of comics.
I don’t know if you consider Wendigo an Ice Villian. I also like Eis Shenron from the Dragonball Universe. I know its not a Comic villian but I would put him in my top 5.
I don't think I have anything to say, on account of the fact that these are exactly the choices AND rankings my own list would have. I do have a thought though: what if you did some more "themed villain" videos in the future? After all, a lot of villains do share certain gimmicks and motifs, so it would be fun to spotlight those, as you did here. Just a suggestion. (shrugs) Anyway, great video, as always...also, random thing, but I LOVE this melody by Kevin MacLeod. It's easily my favorite of his music pieces.
Well, as I said in the video, I'll continue if this one is a hit... and it kinda seems to be ;) Btw, how's it going with those top 10 Superman rogue stories lists? Still waiting on Toyman ;D
I think u should try something like ALL the ice based villains only in the DC universe, Not just Mr. Freeze, Killer Frost, Captain Cold, Icicle, But all the villains in that "cold war's" comic
Really liked your list, I actually forgot about the Iron Man Villain Blizzard. He's actually pretty interesting and I hope they take him a bit more seriously, like Spider-Man's Spot. So thanks for the reminder. I would totally love more of these videos, especially with that Top 5 Ape Villains you mentioned. Also, what comic is that final panel of your video? It seems interesting with all the Ice Villains gathered together.
How about: He's an Ice-Themed Super Villain, he's a Fire-Based Super Villain, he's Equinox, the Thermodynamic Man. Created by Len Wein and Gil Kane, first appearing in Marvel Team-Up #23 (July 1974). and went against The Human Torch (Johnny Storm) and Iceman (X-Man Bobby Drake).
I'm surprised that you like Icicle Jr instead of his father. This is the second time I've seen you prefer a supervillain successor, the first being Mirror Master. I was also surprised of the inclusion of Mr Freeze at number one, mostly from your previous videos and notable criticisms about his portrayal in the comic (although I love how you didn't number him.) I think you should continue making top 5 themed videos, the possibilities are endless and it would you cover multiple villains on your channel. I would also liked to request a video idea of my own: Top 5 Supervillain Successors - a list counting down the 5 greatest criminals that have taken up the mantle of a pre-established supervillain and managed to become as good, if not better, than their predasessors. If you do decide to make that video, remember to credit me, Leading Faction. Anyway as always, remember, Arkham Asylum awaits you, in the next great video...
I'm still sad over the death of Louise Lincoln... her replacement is ok-ish, kinda a Rogue rip-off with the "I can't touch anyone without killing them"... but I guess this is still a good drama.
I'd say one of my favourite ice villains is Equinox. He's a fairly sympathetic character with a lot of potential. However, since he's got ice powers AND fire powers, I guess that disqualifies him from both this and any potential fire villains list in the future.
Perfect list! Everything you said about Blizzard is true. I think a Top 5 Goblin Characters Ex. Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, Menace. My Top 3 would be Killer Frost Captain Cold Mr. Freeze. This is an exciting series to watch on your channel! Cold theme villians are my favorite.
Mr. Rogues, I think you need to switch Cold and Freeze's positions on the list tbh. I submit Citizen Cold #1 from the Flashpoint Paradox comics as my reason. In it, Cold says that Mr. Freezes' tech is medical based where as Cold's tech is weapons based.
I’d put Mr. Freeze at the number two slot, and Captain Cold at the number one slot, really just because Freeze has struggled with longevity, where as Cold doesn’t inherently need an end to his story
Interesting video, a suggestion you could do is top 5 mastermind or crazy villains. Here you could do a list of villains who are always calculating, scheming and just plain unstable. and we can finally find out who is the smartest and brilliant comic book villain in history. Until next time have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year Mr rogues.

Not just
Mr. Freeze,
Killer Frost,
Captain Cold,
Icicle,
But all the villains in that "cold war's" comic
You should do a top five fire villains list, I would watch that. Ps firefly better be on it
I wish DC would use Blue Snowman more. And not just to get eaten, as a gag.
It was a Super Friends comic, if I remember correctly.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Rogues
Merry Christmas!
can you do the Jester Underrated Rogues
I'm surprised that you like Icicle Jr instead of his father. This is the second time I've seen you prefer a supervillain successor, the first being Mirror Master. I was also surprised of the inclusion of Mr Freeze at number one, mostly from your previous videos and notable criticisms about his portrayal in the comic (although I love how you didn't number him.)
I think you should continue making top 5 themed videos, the possibilities are endless and it would you cover multiple villains on your channel.
Well, I usually do like the originals better, like in the case of Frost and Blizzard, but Icicle and MM are exceptions.
@@goblintributemaker2539 last time I checked, the female Dr Octopus is named Olivia Octavious
Love your videos 💜💜
Thanks!

Thanks to you 💜
My favorite one is Mr freeze 😎😎😎😎😎😎
My Top 5 Favorite Ice_Themed Villains List Mr Freeze Snowman Blizzard Icicle and Captain Cold
Great video. Can we see a “10 Great villains with red hair”
Perfect list! Everything you said about Blizzard is true.
I think a Top 5 Goblin Characters Ex. Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, Menace.
My Top 3 would be
Killer Frost
Captain Cold
Mr. Freeze.
This is an exciting series to watch on your channel! Cold theme villians are my favorite.
Yeah for top 5 Goblin characters! Greeny’s obviously my favorite
Thanks, Sam!
I want to see Killer Frost in a DC movie.
Mr. Rogues, I think you need to switch Cold and Freeze's positions on the list tbh. I submit Citizen Cold #1 from the Flashpoint Paradox comics as my reason. In it, Cold says that Mr. Freezes' tech is medical based where as Cold's tech is weapons based.
top 5 supergenius villains
Can you do gentlemen Ghost or shadow thief ?
Dam this list was...COLD
I watched this video because of thumbnail....WHAT? i like big snowballs :)
Would you do a review of the videogame "Lego DC Super-Villains"? I think that game is perfect with the theme of your channel
I’d put Mr. Freeze at the number two slot, and Captain Cold at the number one slot, really just because Freeze has struggled with longevity, where as Cold doesn’t inherently need an end to his story
With a lot of ice themed villians in the DCU, I'm surprised they haven't formed a league of their own.
They have, but not in the regular DC canon, but in comics based on various cartoons.
I dunno, seems like those two attributes could apply to so many different characters. Merry Christmas!
