I own and operate a Bobber shop and use this paint all the time, Had the same issue with the primer and the base coats, I started using the Duplicolor Aerosol Primer or the ValueTech Lacquer primer (Brand my local parts store carries) and thinning the base coat down by 20% and haven't had a problem since, I have also had the clear coat Orange peel on me but it's gets cut and buffed anyway so that isn't a problem.
Looks good! I'm having the same issue with the primer being too thick. I guess I'll just have to do the same and experiment until I get the right consistency.
I used the burnt metallic orange the metallic blue, jet black, gloss white and the clear. I use my 1.7 tip for the primer and the 1.5 for the paint and clear never had to thin it out just had some orange peel and cut and buffed it out and looks like a mirror shine. Paint looks good and layed down real nice. Bike looks good
I just use this paint today on my car I paint the whole car but on the bumper it's looks like just a peel coat. When I was removing masking tape it peel off paint from bumper as well. Was not aspecting that
I honestly wouldn’t use it the clear coat doesn’t hold up. I had some gas drip on it and it left spots I did another bike with the same paint and different clear and it still looks good but definitely won’t be using the duplicolor clear.
@@gabec2494 i used the duplicolor clear on this one and it didn’t hold up dripped gas on it and discolored. I’ve used Speedo kote 2k clear it worked well way better than duplicolors and I also tried polyurethane clear and it’s held up nice.
I just got a gallon of primer and the last 2 times I tried it, I had just a splattering mess. decided to thin it with paint thinner. I guess that's not how to do it. It instantly became a blob. I have acetone, but I didn't try that. I thought acetone was just a cleaner. didn't know you could thin with it
@@erok3738 because its lacquer paint, not urethane or enamel that uses a hardner. It cure by air. Plus this product has no mixing ratios, which for a person new ti paint can fall on there face big time.

Are you getting a glossy finish with out the clear coat or isclear coat required to get that glass look,,,
Not really it had a little shine but really needs the clear to have that deep glossy finish.
Looks good! I want to use this paint to paint my motorcycle fairings & tank. How’s it holding up?

Use lacquer thinner with lacquer you dimwit lol(just joking) but seriously use lacquer thinner with lacquer
If the paint is thick in the can, then thin it down,no product is perfect test painting goes a long way

so u don't use any hardener?
no! not with any of these paints.
@@rob12449 why? additional catalyst for durability?
@@erok3738 if the paint does not call for hardener you do not add any. these are lacquer based paints.

Would one can of base coat cover a 46 Ford Coupe??? Thanks
Dave Van I don’t think one can would do it probably could get it with 2. Just a guess 2-3 hope this helps
Dave, my experience with these paints is unless you spray them very miserly they do not go that far.
try using real paint and clear next time.
Try it, not impress at all, paint way to tin, no coverage, jet black, 1 can not enough to do a SUV hood and 2 front fenders
This paint sucks get what you pay for.
150.00.worth.of.crap paint dont use it
It's cheap lacquer, better to buy a bc/cc system or a nice single stage.
