  • Driving up & down Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, California.
Laurel Canyon is a legendary area in Los Angeles. Where multiple music, TV and film stars have lived over the years.
We start the drive from Sunset Blvd and turn right on Laurel Canyon.
At 04:45 we get to the corner of Laurel Canyon and Kirkwood, where the historical Canyon Store is located (The only store in the Laurel Canyon area) Right before the store (hidden by trees) is a house where Jim Morrison used to live.
Later, at the 06:15 mark, we get to the corner of Laurel Canyon and Lookout. On the left corner, the house where Frank Zappa used to live. Across the road, on the right, the very famous Harry Houdini house (Even though he only rented it for a while around 1919)
Once we get to the top of the mountain, we cross Mulhollan Drive, heading for Ventura Blvd in Studio City.
At 16:17 we turn right a couple of times to end up on a small street called Hoffman. We end our drive at the end of that block, looking at the famous CBS Studio Center across the street. Which used to me known as the MTM Studios (Mary Tyler Moore) for many years.
Back in 1928, it was owned by silent movie producer Mack Sennett.
So many shows were filmed there it would be too long to name them all. (Seinfeld, Roseanne, Newhart, Lou Grant, Get Smart, Larry Sanders, and so many more...)
As for Laurel Canyon, it goes on and on for many more miles into the San Fernando valley...

I used to live in San Diego back from 1988-1992, i always loved Southern California. I never got to drive Laurel Canyon but i know how beautiful it is to experience driving through certain parts. I live now back on the East Coast but i do miss the beauty of Southern Cal. This drive would be an awesome with a motorcycle day or night.....such perfect weather , roads and landscape.

Moved from L.A. 30 years ago so it's interesting to see how things have aged in that time. One memory of Laurel Canyon is etched in my brain. Circa 1980 I had a girl friend that lived in Van Nuys and drove an enormous Ford Torino land yacht. One Saturday she suggested we go to the Art museum (La Brea tar pits) and said she'd drive. It's the only time we went anywhere in her enormous land yacht Ford Torino. We drove to the museum via Laurel Canyon. As soon as the road had the slightest curve she slowed down to 15mph. By the time we got to Crescent Heights we were in double digits of middle fingers. Not a keeper . . .

Jeeesh! Am a boomer born Santa Monica growing up in a funky Malibu beach house of a mom who took up surfing in the 50’s while my dad drove PCH to downtown work … but we left in 1963 for North Shore Oahu … and over the decades I used to return just visiting to where I grew up remembering the terror of Malibu fires for a young girl … pondering it all as it was also such a huge turning point in the music world of our generation. Tons of all the good, bad & horrific return sitting your passenger seat of concrete passages … remember how my dad declared PCH & LA too crowded in the early 60’s … 😂… mahalo nui for the ride back through memory lanes!

Mile after mile of sameness. I am surprised how many homes are practically feet away from the highway. And the huge bushes hanging from the fencing almost into the traffic seems dangerous. Who cuts those back and when? Still a fun ride and historical treasure.

I agree totally. Would be nice if we at least had some narration as to what roads we're on - for those of us that are unfamiliar with the LA scene. While I'm on my rant a little editing would come in handy. Why make your viewers sit through red light after red light? There. Now I feel a little better. Thank you very much.

Really? I sat here for how long at a... red light when no traffic was crossing from the other street of the intersection??? That's a little too much for me - I could do that in real life.

I see what you all mean by LCB being so treacherous! Didn't know the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Mulholland was that blind. Neighborhood associations ease up alittle, let L.A. do another upgrade to that road! Alot of those embankments are going to have to be dug out more, and cut down and move back all of that damn landscaping!.......😁
