It's been almost 2 years since Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby and I still get chills of excitement watching it!
This horse and the owner, jockey and team have really gave the Kentucky Derby a jolt of greatness! The last horse to enter the race because another scratched, ends up winning. This just shows everyone, anybody can come back from the end or a bad situation in your life. It gave me goose bumps to see this. I'm from Kentucky and live half an hour from the track.

You have to love an underdog! The Best kind of winning! That Jockey knew his horse and how to guide it; that was a thousand times worth of watching impressive!

One of the best ridden races I’ve seen since I’ve watched it. Loved how Rich Strike’s jockey moved him in and out of traffic so skillfully. Such a huge surprise that a horse that wasn’t expected to win at all did. Congratulations to his owners.

It's nice how the groom is walking the horse around, cooling him down, caring for the beautiful animal which made this all happen. Very professional, caring team behind this incredible horse.

yeah, I agree. They got something special going over there. Jockey, owner, trainer, groom, and the stars aligned, basically, to give this horse a chance. (Other horses dropped out). Phenomenal effort. But they knew on paper, they had a shot. not many other people did though, haha.

Calvin Borel did it on Street Sense and again on Mine That Bird.
That jockey put that horse in every hole that opened up at the perfect timing, and the horse responded to every move like it was nothing. I’ve never seen anything like it in horse racing. Reminds me of the moves Jeff Gordon used to pull with a fast car in NASCAR.

Thank you for recording the entire experience from this angled position. This is the best footage I’ve seen of all that’s out there. It allowed me to feel & see everything as if I was in the stands. Getting to watch every detail, all the way until Rich Strike walks off stage, is phenomenal!

Amazing horse and amazing jockey . I keep watching this fantastic race the 2022 Kentucky Derby. Just watch the jockey skilfully maneuver his horse through the traffic and then see the horse speed up to win at 80/1.
80/1 odds? Wow! Check out the story he tells at about 21:00 in. I hope this lady didn't take his advice.

Oh my God, the horse is so bad ass and the jockey going in and out of traffic as if he was on a busy freeway in California! I can pictures the other jockeys thinking “what just happened”! ❤❤❤❤
That jockey I have bet many times and never does anything,,sorry but horse n jockey was not even belong in Kentucky derby,, no way,,sometimes only God' knows

Secretariat still is faster. 23 compare to Rich Strike at 25.5. I hope he wins all 3!!

The jockey made a demonstration of excellence, the horse showed quality and heart. Rich Strike was demanded by the jockey in the almost 800 finals, he passed him in the middle of traffic, took him inside and traffic again...demanded him outside and he passed like an arrow...he is a great horse.

At about 21:00 in, the guy recounts a story of a woman he met who told him she was going to place a bet on Rich Strike, because her husband's name is Rich. But he tells her not to, because Rich Strike was a bad bet. So she said she would choose another horse. 👀

I love this video because you can hear voices of people in the crowd trying to figure out what horse just won and then reacting to finding out it was Rich Strike.

Best video I have watched on the 2022 KY Derby. It is kinda' like being there. I never realized how small those jockeys are or how majestic and athletic the race horses are.
The jockeys really stay fit and watch their weight in order to ride the horses.
Watching the beginning when all the horses were brought by and named. Rich strike seemed to have more swag than the rest. Great race.

@@Angelaius no it's to keep his motor throttled he BIT his lead pony Before the Race in the post parade & the outrider had to take ahold of him to take him to the gate and after the race he bit the outrider AND His Pony so I imagine if you don't keep him throttled he's going to bite you....
WOW what a race. The jockey maneuvering his horse through the pack was phenomenal to watch. Great job by everyone involved with Rich Strike 👏 I wish them luck at the Preakness. It would be great to see another triple crown winner this year. Bet he's not a Longshot next time.

Thank you SO MUCH for this take! I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to go to the Derby, but I this this view/take is the closest feel I'll have to actually being there. I also didn't realize what a blessing it was to watching it WITHOUT too many human voices getting in the way; the camera angles, the over-puffed speculating opinions, and the microphones shoved into everybody's face (including the horses). I especially liked the post-race view, all the way to watching the triumphant athlete walk comfortably off "into the sunset" of his winning day!

I was watching from the stable area but this is so nice to watch from the grandstand view as if I was there. The race was awesome. So good for the underdog!
Rich Strike ran the race like never before and never since then. It was almost like all the planets were perfectly aligned for two minutes that day for him.

This derby will go down in history as one of the most eventful derby and the most talk about for years to come and this reminds of a race horse in Jamaica with same similarities by the name dome strike upset at long odds so in racing especially long distance races any number can play I certainly enjoy this fantastic occasion

It's amazing watching this race, because this horse Rich Strike does exactly - EXACTLY - what Seabiscuit did - sit in the back of the pack, and surge at the end to win it. He did it over and over again. (Seabiscuit was never a Triple Crown winner because he started his winning career a little too late, so he was ineligible. However, he did beat the Triple Crown winner in a head to head race.)

Unbelievable race by Rich Strike and jockey Leone the way he manouvered the horse thru the herd and like the horse had wings and super powers and he flew past the rest. Up until now he had never won any race - he came 3rd in some small race. He was almost not part of the derby - i think some last minute entry.. a race to remember
Rich Strike has massive good genes. His father Keen Ice beat Triple Crown winner in similar fashion in 2015. And his Granddady, Curlin was the very famous champion and 2007 Preakness winner!
I bet i've watched the race video 25 times and still get goosebumps and excited. Just an amazing horse, an absolute gem of a race by the jockey! Probably top 3 K Derby race ever!
To use an oxymoron; the deafening silence and hush of the crowd was asking, "What horse was that?"
That was the sound of Rich Strike reaching into everybody's pockets and taking their money. You know in Vegas there was a giant cheer! The house loves a long shot

All you people out there who don't own a horse never has owned a horse, don't realize that they can be very aggressive especially after a race. If you cant take it, don't watch them. It is a full blown adrenaline rush for a horse to run that fast. He won't fair and square.
