I did all these and was told Spotify was supported in the UK. MB UKs website showed Spotify, the T&Cs for the service in the UK showed Spotify.... The product matrix for the UK showed Spotify supported in the UK.... Brought it and it only supports Tidal!!! I don't know anyone that uses Tidal!!!
Hi Nick - we have Entertainment and Spotify showing on our Mercedes Me app - we linked it to our Sept 2021 EQC, however the car only shows Tidal and Amazon. All Marcedes Grids say it should work and can use Spotify on the online media and yet it wont show.
Mmm strange…have you spoken to Mercedes? The Entertainment Package is quite new, I don’t know the answer but they might be rolling out software updates or something? I’d suggest chatting with Mercedes me support first then maybe a Mercedes dealer.
Really appreciate the "How To" videos on using the Infotainment system, particularly the integration with streaming services. With autos becoming more like personal computers on wheels all the "How To" content is VERY useful.
Hi Nick , I have a new EQB with the Burmester set up. One point to note regards the entertainment pack is that the only way you can get Dolby Atmos is via this package, and not via your phone and via Apple music. This is an issue in a poor reception area and one hopefully Mercedes can fix.
Dolby Atmos files require a lot more data to transfer so yes I would naturally assume good data is needed. None of that sadly will ever work over CarPlay due to the restrictions Apple have in place with audio codecs and existing car sound systems.

When you get it set up it's brilliant. But it was a nightmare to get working in my CLA. The mercades me support team didn't help much, only way I got it working was cancelling it and setting it up again.
Seen this a while back on the app. Thing is, it's subscription based. AA/AC are free. And Mercedes doesn't make it cheap either - it adds up to £700 a year for full package! And probably even more for more expensive models. It's ridiculously expensive, specially when we purchase these cars brand new with the full package, some services expire just 1year after (eg car office)... All other services will expire before I even finish the lease contract. Honestly really annoyed they are pushing this subscription model even more. I'm genuinely considering dropping mercedes and getting something else next for this reason alone.
It would be subscription based as there could be a chunk of data that someone would use. Like a phone contract, the end user would need to pay for it. But…that’s why I like Apple CarPlay, I’m already paying for it so no need to pay twice. To clarify it’s £37 a year for the entertainment package. I don’t include prices too much on my video as Mercedes could change it or update it. There are other things on Mercedes me which would add up in cost but only if you use them. Included in that package would be Navigation Package, which would be Live Traffic & Map Updates but for me and maybe yourself might just use Apple CarPlay. I love it for that as it’s free 🤓 plus it charges your phone if it’s plugged in 👍🏼 Most manufacturers offer these different types of things now, it’s not a Mercedes specific thing but you only renew what you want to renew. If I’m personally going to renew anything, it might just be the app. But I don’t use anything else, that’s just me

I was too harsh on my rant and I do understand the data costs, even though I still believe they are overcharged - my company also uses Vodafone for unlimited bulk data contracts. One thing I would like to see, however, is the costs of these to be included for the full length of the lease instead of being inconsistent in their durations. For example, getting a premium plus package with a 4year lease should include these services for the 4years. This way it's hassle free for the customer, which is the main reason I wanted the highest configuration. Mercedes can then charge the customer who purchases it as second hand giving them the flexibility. And for company car leases, chances are the company would cover the costs if they were included in the lease contract but not in a subscription model. Thank you for the quick reply, and apologies for my rant. Love your videos, keep up the good work.

It’s always good to hear from everyone watching! 🤓 That would be a good idea with the whole subscription and lease thing but again I fall into this category 😅 Mercedes make the cars and include a 3 year warranty in the UK, which ties up with the subscription for Mercedes me so it all runs and finishes together. However for costings I have it financed over 4 years and that’s my choice, I’ve chosen to finance it longer than those set periods. Yes it would be good if the warranty ran from the 3rd year too, I might take out an extended warranty just in case. Certainly a good idea though!
Great video Nick. Curious to learn: is there any difference in streaming quality when coupling via Bluetooth Tethering or WiFi? Theoretically yes, the latter should be better, but does Mercedes also utilize this?
Thank you! Sadly Mercedes don’t mention audio quality anywhere otherwise I would have included it :( However I do know that some brand new models offer Dolby Atmos support from what I’ve heard. For everything else (like my car too) I couldn’t observe any audio quality difference 👍🏼

Had a 2019 CLS with Command and I connected an iPod Touch permanently in the arm rest. Changed last year to a 2023 CLS 53 with MBUX NTG 6 and can no longer control my old iPod. Does anyone know if I buy one of the last versions of the iPod Touch will it work and be controllable with my new CLS?
No sadly Apple discontinued iPods a long time ago so they no longer release the software to program it into cars. Basically as a rule of thumb if any iPod can connect via Bluetooth then it will most likely work 👍🏼

On the Sirius XM page of MBUX, there are three choices for the “Favorites” selection when a particular song is played. Empty Star means you can save that station as a favorite. Filled in Star means it’s already saved. But what does the third symbol mean? It’s a Star with a counterclockwise clock emblem on top of it. I don’t see it doing anything obvious but it MIGHT have something to do with starting at the beginning of the song displayed for that channel.

Yeah Mercedes released the pricing for the CLE Cabriolet recently. That’s its replacement. To simply their range, they’ve discontinued C-Class Coupe C-Class Cabriolet E-Class Coupe E-Class Cabriolet And brought in CLE Coupe & Cabriolet 🙏

I have recently just taken delivery of my A35 Premium Plus from a fellow Sandown dealership, I had a query regarding the Emotion Start, is this present on the facelift model in 2024 as my car currently does not do this. Just to note it is currently still in its break in period.

I believe Emotion Start is just on the One Man One Engine models so in A-Class it’s an A 45 S. Not sure if this works though but try turning the ignition on (press twice without foot on the brake), change dynamic select to sport mode and then switch on… Not sure if that’ll make it noisier but you could try!
@@KylecastleYes, it’s any AMG after a certain date! I want to say 2019 but not sure. I have a 73 reg A35 Premium Plus and it has emotion start. Not sure why Nick has provided the instructions above, all you do is hold the right paddle in and start the car, that’s it! Also you can do it now, won’t effect the break in period as it only revs a little higher upon start.
@@pricey78 oh really? I have tried on cold and when the engine is up to temperature and even putting it into Sport+ before starting the engine. When I hold the paddle and start it hits the same revs which is about 2000 on cold start and stays there doesn’t go above and come down so that’s why I wasn’t sure if it got removed end of last year or if the break in was causing the ECU to block me from doing this until after 1000 miles
@@Kylecastle It’s definitely there mate, I don’t start mine without it, lol. I literally hold in the right paddle, foot on brake, press start, it revs to approx 2 or 2.5, it’s quite obvious. Mine is always in comfort so I never change that when starting. Maybe try again after 1,000 miles but I don’t recall it needing that, could be wrong 🧐
I have the x254 GLC and in Australia there is no entertainment package and all Mercedes cars cannot use in car data. What we have is music streaming but you have to use your phone hotspots and also ensuring Mercedes me connect is online(yeah if the built in SIM disconnected from network(quite often) you are unable to play any songs and the online music service will say unavailable)
Great video Nick. Struggle to get the comfort package as get error messages when trying to register. Do you have to have the Entertainment Package before registering for the comfort package??

Just bought a new C Class and signed up for the Vodafone service. Apparently Vodafone can’t charge you for any data, as the billing side of things is broken!!!
Terrific stuff. I am an Amazon Music subscriber and this answers my questions on this. However, I am also a fan of Alexa, our home is bristling with tech linked to this AI and for a few years I have used the Echo Auto to run music in my car, turn the heating on, lights on and even the kettle when I am driving and I am wondering if accessing the app via the MBUX will allow this functionality - when I get my new EQA some time in the next month or so?

Is there any benefit in the Audio department? As in there’s no extra link e.g. connecting a phone through the wire using the phones internal DAC to play the music. Would playing hi-res music directly through the stereo system be possible?
Sadly Mercedes haven’t posted anything about that otherwise I would have included it for the audio lovers 🤓 So my guess is that it’s exactly the same…however… Mercedes recently have announced Dolby Atmos support for a couple of models (new production cars only and specific audio systems) I think it was for the SL and maybe the EQS or some similar models. Most cars sadly do not support that sort of playback, however Mercedes do support WAV files and even FLAC files too. These have to be on a memory stick though.
No don’t think you’re crazy, Bluetooth or CarPlay compress the music quality. I don’t know what format Mercedes stream in but the fact they support Dolby Atmos on some models suggests that it streams in a higher bit rate. So no don’t think you’re going crazy 😅
Hey Nic, Another great vid! Just a question on the spec of your car. I’m looking at purchasing the new CLE in Oz later this year but the interior specs released here only seem to allow for plain Black on Black, Sienna Brown on Black, Machiatto on Black or Red on Black. However I can see your car is Black on Black but with Black Suede inserts & differentiated Red Stitching which I really like. Was this a special order to get the Suede & Red Stitching or was it just available on your particular model. I just wanted something a bit sporty with the metallic Selenite Grey exterior but don’t think I could live with the full Red interior. Cheers Steve
Hey Steve thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! So specs (rather annoyingly) vary massively round the world. There can be different specs, colours, wheels and even interior trims depending on where the car is sold (so I’m led to believe). The interior trim for my car is literally as it is (it’s called AMG Line), I think you can choose the colour but black is what 90% of the cars I’ve seen in the UK have. Certainly that’s what’s in showrooms when I go into film and/or on press days.

For me, choosing the Entertainment Package over CarPlay was a no-brainer: 1) As I lease the car, paying for the CarPlay one-time purchase addon was not justified, it is actually more expensive than what I'll pay for the Entertainment Package subscription for the duration of the lease. 2) Built-in navigation works *wonders* for the ECO driving "route-based" option on my plug-in hybrid since the car knows a turn is coming up and adjusts it's regenerative braking etc. 3) The audio quality (on streaming services) is way better with the Entertainment Package because audio data is directly streamed on the car audio system, avoiding the re-encoding and bluetooth codec transmission that would happen if Bluetooth was used for audio streaming via a smartphone. I haven't tested CarPlay / Android Auto in these regards The only downside is that I can't find a way to "restart" the mobile network connection without turning off and on the whole car. Sometimes it gets stuck in EDGE mode although there is adequate coverage and that causes the Online music tab to become "Unavailable" because there is "No connection"
I was just trying to remember what I was going to suggest (as it was 2-3 months ago 😅) But I remembered! The whole getting stuck thing, I’ve had that on another car manufacturer before as well so I don’t think it’s unique to Mercedes. There is a soft reset which restarts the car’s multimedia system which can be used without having to turn the whole car off and back on. This should work in your model, just hold the volume / power button in (centre of the car not steering wheel / roller wheel one). Hold it in for 4-6 seconds and it’ll force restart. You may hear either a pop, or thud from the speakers, don’t worry that’s normal as it reboots.
Oh really? That sounds strange, I’d suggest chatting with Mercedes me support so they can check it out for you! In the app, tap: MENU HELP CONTACT SUPPORT (and then call them) They’ll be able to check the account and suggest if a dealer needs to look in person
MBUX stops bluetooth playback if you get a proximity/collision warning. Radio would resume but not bluetooth after warning. Thats quite annoying. So if the integrated streaming can automatically resume, then it would be a good reason.
@@npoleary if you’re on a main road single carriageway waiting for a right turn into side street. React fast and turn immediately after car on opposite side has passed, the awfully slow radars of my ‘21 GLB (NTG6) will warn you to check surroundings. Then stops Bluetooth. This is super annoying.
Could you do a review of the zync software with the hyperscreen please? I'm torn between the i7 and an eqs and as I have a family who like road trips how they are entertained is important. I'm in the UK. Thanks

Sadly not seen it in action, when I was with Mercedes a few months ago reviewing a car, I was only with the car for a few hours filming the review so wouldn’t have had time to check it out :( However one thing to note, I’m not sure there’s rear screens on Mercedes in the UK. Another useful video Nick. My A250 was delivered (from the factory) in June 2020, and whilst it shows Amazon Music and Tidal, it doesn’t show Spotify, so I wonder if my car is lacking some kind of update? I might try contacting Mercedes Me support, but I had no idea that it should be there.

Do you have the url for it, so I can see what they say regarding that?
The table I found was on the Mercedes me store under the Entertainment Package service which you can view before buying 👍🏼 Think the section was called Compatibility or something similar and was a pdf you can download.
@@npoleary I eventually found a link that brought me to the same screen you showed, but I was greeted with the text “Digital Extra package is unfortunately not available for your car due to the hardware installed ex factory”. I think the Entertainment Package I have is a legacy one that didn’t include data. Looking closer at the table, it shows A-Class from 06/2022 as “MBUX 1st Generation” so who knows 🤷♂️
I know that specs will vary as always round the world so if anyone’s not sure, I would always suggest chatting with Mercedes to double check. It sounds like you had spoken to them though. If it’s not compatible then Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be best! 🤓
Does your. Car have an auto brake hold function, or do you sit with your foot on the brake pedal or use the hand brake,. When stopped at traffic lights.
I have a review of the facelift A-Class which I bought within the last year on my channel and several follow up videos since then. The model will be the same this year as facelifts and model changes are usually around every 4 years.

I have activated this. I live in the UK. What I found was that I already had vodafone internet in the car which was free as I bought my Mercedes first hand and it was a brand new car, Once I registered for this comfort pack I WAS deregistered by vodafone from my original vodafone free data pack and registered for this comfort pack which is a paid service. I spoke to the guys at Vodafone and they said that there are two accounts one is the comfort which you have described and the other is legacy account which I had and which was giving me free data. When I registered for the comfort pack they delinked my car from the legacy free account. So I am thinking of going back to my legacy account. Plus I cant see apple music in my linked music account on the app. Why is that?
I’ve never heard of someone getting free data before from comments on my channel, I’ve covered several videos on how to set Internet in the car up and always seen paid tiers (unless you had an agreement with a dealer or something with Mercedes but you’ll have to contact them about that) As I mentioned in the video, music services vary across models, sadly there’s no way of me knowing but details are on the Mercedes me store under compatibility, it contains a pdf document detailing which multimedia systems work with what service. Failing that chatting with Mercedes me support or a dealer, they’ll be able to let you know what’s compatible too.

I’m not sure that it can be done on NTG 7 because the favourites for the phone, the car actually now pulls it from the favourites menu on the phone which I thought was quite cool. So for example on my iPhone, when you press the call app, there’s a favourites menu, in my car it displays that on the connected phone under the phone menu.

Ah nice! Well specs vary depending on what package is on the car but if you check to see if it has Premium or Premium Plus Packages that’ll usually include that. Although the 3D surround might only be on selected models, you’ll have to check with them 🤓
Is this available on the first generation mbux? I don’t see it in my vehicle. Hell I don’t even have “online music” option. I’m in the US if that helps. I also don’t see the comfort data option under infotainment

Hi Nick, I subscribed to this package but the internet radio / other aspects of the package do not work with my 2019 A220 AMG Premium. Likewise I’m not able to purchase the dashcam option despite the car having AR sat nav tech. Have booked it in hopefully to have a software update - would this solve the problems?
Sadly it varies a lot I would imagine that the internet radio came out after the car was made but you’ve done the best thing, book in with Mercedes for them to check 🤓
It's possible the comfort data package is not compatible with your vehicle. It wasn't on my 2019 C class prem plus with NTG 5.5, and it's also not compatible with my 2021 GLB with MBUX NTG 6.
Gareth I have the same car and can use the Internet radio but can only get Tidal for the stream service..... Even though it states Spotify is supported in all MB T&Cs.

Thank you! This came out only very recently so if the car was already made then probably not. It was included with my car but I wouldn’t know what models it’s included with so best to chat to Mercedes on that one 👍🏼 It might state in their brochures or something that “Entertainment Package” is included for a set term.
I mentioned in the video, pinned a comment and put details in the description that it varies depending on the car. Sadly not all cars can do all steaming services. On the Mercedes me store it details what models are compatible. Or chat to Mercedes me support from the app Or chat with a Mercedes dealer and they can check for you If you can’t see it though, I would assume that those are the only ones compatible
How is the sound quality with the online music service? Is it better than Carplay? I've found in some cars that using Apple Carplay compresses the music quite a bit.

It depends on the year of car, the model and it’s multimedia system and where abouts you’re based in the world as sadly it won’t be available everywhere.
@npoleary The Entertainment Package was add to the car prior to purchase (Ex Demo) but cant find if there is any data charges anywhere or if it's included till expiry of the package

Only certain music services are compatible with certain cars, you find the compatibility on the Mercedes me store or chat to Mercedes me Support and they can advise for your own car. I’m led to believe first gen MBUX can only do Amazon Music and Tidal Where as newer generations (new models and facelifts) can do the above and Apple Music & Spotify. If yours isn’t listed for your car that you want to use, best to just use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or Bluetooth 👍🏼
I have a Eqa 250 with premium sound system Burmeister and the sound is like I have a hat in the head, poor quality and low level of sound. Before I use to listen in a 3008 with a Focal 10.2 sound system and it sounds wonderfull, digital sound processor, power, everything you want from a car sound system. If i buy this package the sound quality will increase, also the volume, or it will be the same Burmeister shit with more aplications? Please help me in this matter! It is possible tu do something or I have to change the car with e-3008 with Focal Electra sound?
Honestly I think you ought to try it, I’ve driven an EQA very recently with Burmester on a review that I’m working on at the moment and I thought I was absolutely fine (better than my own car) I’m not sure what you mean by the other things so give it a go, you can always get a refund from them if it doesn’t work out. Pretty sure it’s a 14 day refund policy but check with Mercedes before you buy.
I’d suggest chatting to Mercedes me Support, they might be able to help and look at your account On the app tap MENU HELP CONTACT SUPPORT (then call them)
This is why I use CarPlay (but you pay for data for your phone anyway so the cost is covered) This charge would cover the data costs in the car. You might still be thinking why… The only reason why I would use this is if I had an EV. An in car’s multimedia system provides a better experience with sat nav if you own an ev as it can integrate with chargepoints for range. I don’t have an EV, so I’m sticking with CarPlay! 😅
Yes that would be good if they did, I’m not sure why unless it was something to do with licensing or something? My only guess is that it might have taken longer for those two services to go through for approval from Apple’s side and Spotify’s side? Tesla had the same thing, Apple Music was added dead last to their cars. However I would then say an over the air update would have been good but it doesn’t look like that’s possible so there must be another reason or something :(
I activated mine the other day, so far not that impressed and certainly wouldn’t pay for it. It cuts out, asks you to connect to your phones data package, then starts working again. Personally just a pain. Helpful video regardless though 👍
You can use CarPlay for sure! I prefer it! But some out there like the car’s in-built system. And even more importantly, if you own an EV, using the car’s multimedia system and navigation is very important and it helps with navigating to chargers and pre-conditioning etc.
If you read other reviews Mercedes multimedia systems are actually one of the easiest ones to use and the cleanest looking. Trust me I’ve seen some hideous examples out there! 😂😂 CarPlay all the way for me though, unless it’s an EV then that’s a bit different 🤓
MBUX is actually much more powerful than Apple CarPlay nowadays, from the augmented reality graphics over camera feed to so many other powerful features that you can only get with the native MBUX. It’s truly impressive.

I did all these and was told Spotify was supported in the UK. MB UKs website showed Spotify, the T&Cs for the service in the UK showed Spotify.... The product matrix for the UK showed Spotify supported in the UK.... Brought it and it only supports Tidal!!! I don't know anyone that uses Tidal!!!
Hi Nick - we have Entertainment and Spotify showing on our Mercedes Me app - we linked it to our Sept 2021 EQC, however the car only shows Tidal and Amazon. All Marcedes Grids say it should work and can use Spotify on the online media and yet it wont show.
Mmm strange…have you spoken to Mercedes? The Entertainment Package is quite new, I don’t know the answer but they might be rolling out software updates or something?
I’d suggest chatting with Mercedes me support first then maybe a Mercedes dealer.

I find myself rarely using CarPlay because the Mercedes interface is so nice.
Hi Nick , I have a new EQB with the Burmester set up. One point to note regards the entertainment pack is that the only way you can get Dolby Atmos is via this package, and not via your phone and via Apple music. This is an issue in a poor reception area and one hopefully Mercedes can fix.
Dolby Atmos files require a lot more data to transfer so yes I would naturally assume good data is needed.
None of that sadly will ever work over CarPlay due to the restrictions Apple have in place with audio codecs and existing car sound systems.

Seen this a while back on the app. Thing is, it's subscription based. AA/AC are free. And Mercedes doesn't make it cheap either - it adds up to £700 a year for full package! And probably even more for more expensive models. It's ridiculously expensive, specially when we purchase these cars brand new with the full package, some services expire just 1year after (eg car office)... All other services will expire before I even finish the lease contract. Honestly really annoyed they are pushing this subscription model even more.
I'm genuinely considering dropping mercedes and getting something else next for this reason alone.
It would be subscription based as there could be a chunk of data that someone would use. Like a phone contract, the end user would need to pay for it.
But…that’s why I like Apple CarPlay, I’m already paying for it so no need to pay twice.
To clarify it’s £37 a year for the entertainment package. I don’t include prices too much on my video as Mercedes could change it or update it. There are other things on Mercedes me which would add up in cost but only if you use them.
Included in that package would be Navigation Package, which would be Live Traffic & Map Updates but for me and maybe yourself might just use Apple CarPlay. I love it for that as it’s free 🤓 plus it charges your phone if it’s plugged in 👍🏼
Most manufacturers offer these different types of things now, it’s not a Mercedes specific thing but you only renew what you want to renew. If I’m personally going to renew anything, it might just be the app. But I don’t use anything else, that’s just me
@@npoleary that's fair enough. I was too harsh on my rant and I do understand the data costs, even though I still believe they are overcharged - my company also uses Vodafone for unlimited bulk data contracts.
One thing I would like to see, however, is the costs of these to be included for the full length of the lease instead of being inconsistent in their durations. For example, getting a premium plus package with a 4year lease should include these services for the 4years. This way it's hassle free for the customer, which is the main reason I wanted the highest configuration. Mercedes can then charge the customer who purchases it as second hand giving them the flexibility.
And for company car leases, chances are the company would cover the costs if they were included in the lease contract but not in a subscription model.

Mercedes make the cars and include a 3 year warranty in the UK, which ties up with the subscription for Mercedes me so it all runs and finishes together. However for costings I have it financed over 4 years and that’s my choice, I’ve chosen to finance it longer than those set periods. Yes it would be good if the warranty ran from the 3rd year too, I might take out an extended warranty just in case.

Had a 2019 CLS with Command and I connected an iPod Touch permanently in the arm rest. Changed last year to a 2023 CLS 53 with MBUX NTG 6 and can no longer control my old iPod. Does anyone know if I buy one of the last versions of the iPod Touch will it work and be controllable with my new CLS?
No sadly Apple discontinued iPods a long time ago so they no longer release the software to program it into cars. Basically as a rule of thumb if any iPod can connect via Bluetooth then it will most likely work 👍🏼

On the Sirius XM page of MBUX, there are three choices for the “Favorites” selection when a particular song is played. Empty Star means you can save that station as a favorite. Filled in Star means it’s already saved. But what does the third symbol mean? It’s a Star with a counterclockwise clock emblem on top of it. I don’t see it doing anything obvious but it MIGHT have something to do with starting at the beginning of the song displayed for that channel.
Sadly not seen that before… I know that MBUX radio is a bit different in the states etc with Sirius.

I believe Emotion Start is just on the One Man One Engine models so in A-Class it’s an A 45 S.
Not sure if this works though but try turning the ignition on (press twice without foot on the brake), change dynamic select to sport mode and then switch on…

@@KylecastleYes, it’s any AMG after a certain date! I want to say 2019 but not sure. I have a 73 reg A35 Premium Plus and it has emotion start. Not sure why Nick has provided the instructions above, all you do is hold the right paddle in and start the car, that’s it! Also you can do it now, won’t effect the break in period as it only revs a little higher upon start.
@@pricey78 oh really? I have tried on cold and when the engine is up to temperature and even putting it into Sport+ before starting the engine. When I hold the paddle and start it hits the same revs which is about 2000 on cold start and stays there doesn’t go above and come down so that’s why I wasn’t sure if it got removed end of last year or if the break in was causing the ECU to block me from doing this until after 1000 miles
@@Kylecastle It’s definitely there mate, I don’t start mine without it, lol. I literally hold in the right paddle, foot on brake, press start, it revs to approx 2 or 2.5, it’s quite obvious. Mine is always in comfort so I never change that when starting. Maybe try again after 1,000 miles but I don’t recall it needing that, could be wrong 🧐
I have the x254 GLC and in Australia there is no entertainment package and all Mercedes cars cannot use in car data. What we have is music streaming but you have to use your phone hotspots and also ensuring Mercedes me connect is online(yeah if the built in SIM disconnected from network(quite often) you are unable to play any songs and the online music service will say unavailable)

Just bought a new C Class and signed up for the Vodafone service. Apparently Vodafone can’t charge you for any data, as the billing side of things is broken!!!
Terrific stuff. I am an Amazon Music subscriber and this answers my questions on this. However, I am also a fan of Alexa, our home is bristling with tech linked to this AI and for a few years I have used the Echo Auto to run music in my car, turn the heating on, lights on and even the kettle when I am driving and I am wondering if accessing the app via the MBUX will allow this functionality - when I get my new EQA some time in the next month or so?

Is there any benefit in the Audio department? As in there’s no extra link e.g. connecting a phone through the wire using the phones internal DAC to play the music. Would playing hi-res music directly through the stereo system be possible?

Mercedes recently have announced Dolby Atmos support for a couple of models (new production cars only and specific audio systems) I think it was for the SL and maybe the EQS or some similar models.
Most cars sadly do not support that sort of playback, however Mercedes do support WAV files and even FLAC files too. These have to be on a memory stick though.
I might be crazy. But on my w206 the Apple Music built in sounds significantly better than my phone.
No don’t think you’re crazy, Bluetooth or CarPlay compress the music quality. I don’t know what format Mercedes stream in but the fact they support Dolby Atmos on some models suggests that it streams in a higher bit rate.

Just a question on the spec of your car. I’m looking at purchasing the new CLE in Oz later this year but the interior specs released here only seem to allow for plain Black on Black, Sienna Brown on Black, Machiatto on Black or Red on Black.
However I can see your car is Black on Black but with Black Suede inserts & differentiated Red Stitching which I really like. Was this a special order to get the Suede & Red Stitching or was it just available on your particular model.
I just wanted something a bit sporty with the metallic Selenite Grey exterior but don’t think I could live with the full Red interior.

So specs (rather annoyingly) vary massively round the world. There can be different specs, colours, wheels and even interior trims depending on where the car is sold (so I’m led to believe).
The interior trim for my car is literally as it is (it’s called AMG Line), I think you can choose the colour but black is what 90% of the cars I’ve seen in the UK have. Certainly that’s what’s in showrooms when I go into film and/or on press days.

For the names like daughter etc, I’ve not actually seen the family relations in the new MBUX so I’m presuming Mercedes have removed them.
For me, choosing the Entertainment Package over CarPlay was a no-brainer:
1) As I lease the car, paying for the CarPlay one-time purchase addon was not justified, it is actually more expensive than what I'll pay for the Entertainment Package subscription for the duration of the lease.
2) Built-in navigation works *wonders* for the ECO driving "route-based" option on my plug-in hybrid since the car knows a turn is coming up and adjusts it's regenerative braking etc.
3) The audio quality (on streaming services) is way better with the Entertainment Package because audio data is directly streamed on the car audio system, avoiding the re-encoding and bluetooth codec transmission that would happen if Bluetooth was used for audio streaming via a smartphone. I haven't tested CarPlay / Android Auto in these regards
The only downside is that I can't find a way to "restart" the mobile network connection without turning off and on the whole car. Sometimes it gets stuck in EDGE mode although there is adequate coverage and that causes the Online music tab to become "Unavailable" because there is "No connection"

I was just trying to remember what I was going to suggest (as it was 2-3 months ago 😅)
But I remembered!
The whole getting stuck thing, I’ve had that on another car manufacturer before as well so I don’t think it’s unique to Mercedes.
There is a soft reset which restarts the car’s multimedia system which can be used without having to turn the whole car off and back on.
This should work in your model, just hold the volume / power button in (centre of the car not steering wheel / roller wheel one). Hold it in for 4-6 seconds and it’ll force restart. You may hear either a pop, or thud from the speakers, don’t worry that’s normal as it reboots.

MBUX stops bluetooth playback if you get a proximity/collision warning. Radio would resume but not bluetooth after warning. Thats quite annoying. So if the integrated streaming can automatically resume, then it would be a good reason.

@@npoleary if you’re on a main road single carriageway waiting for a right turn into side street. React fast and turn immediately after car on opposite side has passed, the awfully slow radars of my ‘21 GLB (NTG6) will warn you to check surroundings. Then stops Bluetooth. This is super annoying.

My A250 was delivered (from the factory) in June 2020, and whilst it shows Amazon Music and Tidal, it doesn’t show Spotify, so I wonder if my car is lacking some kind of update? I might try contacting Mercedes Me support, but I had no idea that it should be there.

Do you have the url for it, so I can see what they say regarding that?
The table I found was on the Mercedes me store under the Entertainment Package service which you can view before buying 👍🏼
Think the section was called Compatibility or something similar and was a pdf you can download.
@@npoleary I eventually found a link that brought me to the same screen you showed, but I was greeted with the text “Digital Extra package is unfortunately not available for your car due to the hardware installed ex factory”. I think the Entertainment Package I have is a legacy one that didn’t include data.
Looking closer at the table, it shows A-Class from 06/2022 as “MBUX 1st Generation” so who knows 🤷♂️
I know that specs will vary as always round the world so if anyone’s not sure, I would always suggest chatting with Mercedes to double check. It sounds like you had spoken to them though.

Does your. Car have an auto brake hold function, or do you sit with your foot on the brake pedal or use the hand brake,. When stopped at traffic lights.
It has a hold feature which I’ll use if I’m sat there for a while. Got a few videos on it and a RUclips short 😊

I have activated this. I live in the UK. What I found was that I already had vodafone internet in the car which was free as I bought my Mercedes first hand and it was a brand new car, Once I registered for this comfort pack I WAS deregistered by vodafone from my original vodafone free data pack and registered for this comfort pack which is a paid service. I spoke to the guys at Vodafone and they said that there are two accounts one is the comfort which you have described and the other is legacy account which I had and which was giving me free data. When I registered for the comfort pack they delinked my car from the legacy free account. So I am thinking of going back to my legacy account.
Plus I cant see apple music in my linked music account on the app. Why is that?
I’ve never heard of someone getting free data before from comments on my channel, I’ve covered several videos on how to set Internet in the car up and always seen paid tiers (unless you had an agreement with a dealer or something with Mercedes but you’ll have to contact them about that)
As I mentioned in the video, music services vary across models, sadly there’s no way of me knowing but details are on the Mercedes me store under compatibility, it contains a pdf document detailing which multimedia systems work with what service. Failing that chatting with Mercedes me support or a dealer, they’ll be able to let you know what’s compatible too.
Is it possible to have MB with a multi-cd player and/or a multi-mini-disc player ?
I don’t think so unless it was an older model. CD players sadly don’t exist these days in cars.

I’m not sure that it can be done on NTG 7 because the favourites for the phone, the car actually now pulls it from the favourites menu on the phone which I thought was quite cool.
So for example on my iPhone, when you press the call app, there’s a favourites menu, in my car it displays that on the connected phone under the phone menu.

Ah nice! Well specs vary depending on what package is on the car but if you check to see if it has Premium or Premium Plus Packages that’ll usually include that. Although the 3D surround might only be on selected models, you’ll have to check with them 🤓
Is this available on the first generation mbux? I don’t see it in my vehicle. Hell I don’t even have “online music” option. I’m in the US if that helps. I also don’t see the comfort data option under infotainment

Hi Nick, I subscribed to this package but the internet radio / other aspects of the package do not work with my 2019 A220 AMG Premium. Likewise I’m not able to purchase the dashcam option despite the car having AR sat nav tech. Have booked it in hopefully to have a software update - would this solve the problems?
Sadly it varies a lot I would imagine that the internet radio came out after the car was made but you’ve done the best thing, book in with Mercedes for them to check 🤓
It's possible the comfort data package is not compatible with your vehicle. It wasn't on my 2019 C class prem plus with NTG 5.5, and it's also not compatible with my 2021 GLB with MBUX NTG 6.

Gareth I have the same car and can use the Internet radio but can only get Tidal for the stream service..... Even though it states Spotify is supported in all MB T&Cs.

Possibly! If it’s a new car I would presume so as that would have one of the latest multimedia systems that Mercedes offer

It might state in their brochures or something that “Entertainment Package” is included for a set term.
What model did you buy? It comes on certain specs, like the premium plus A Class for example.

How is the sound quality with the online music service? Is it better than Carplay? I've found in some cars that using Apple Carplay compresses the music quite a bit.
Had to go by sound alone as Mercedes don’t publish what music quality it is (as far as I’ve seen)
But it was really good! 👍🏼
Quality is much better through MBUX built in Apple Music. Wireless CarPlay compresses the music a lot.

It depends, I put in the description & pinned a comment as well that it can vary. You’ll have to check the Mercedes me store, chat with a Mercedes dealer or phone Mercedes me support where they can check for you.
It depends on the year of car, the model and it’s multimedia system and where abouts you’re based in the world as sadly it won’t be available everywhere.
@npoleary The Entertainment Package was add to the car prior to purchase (Ex Demo) but cant find if there is any data charges anywhere or if it's included till expiry of the package

Hi Nick how do you add to linked accounts … I havnt got Spotify or Apple Music in the list ?
Only certain music services are compatible with certain cars, you find the compatibility on the Mercedes me store or chat to Mercedes me Support and they can advise for your own car.
I’m led to believe first gen MBUX can only do Amazon Music and Tidal
Where as newer generations (new models and facelifts) can do the above and Apple Music & Spotify.
If yours isn’t listed for your car that you want to use, best to just use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or Bluetooth 👍🏼
I have the similar issue. According to the table shown in the video, all MBUX should have Tidel, Amazon and Spotify, but I am missing Spotify too.
Have you contacted Mercedes me support or a dealer? They might be able to check it out for you

I have a Eqa 250 with premium sound system Burmeister and the sound is like I have a hat in the head, poor quality and low level of sound. Before I use to listen in a 3008 with a Focal 10.2 sound system and it sounds wonderfull, digital sound processor, power, everything you want from a car sound system. If i buy this package the sound quality will increase, also the volume, or it will be the same Burmeister shit with more aplications? Please help me in this matter! It is possible tu do something or I have to change the car with e-3008 with Focal Electra sound?
Honestly I think you ought to try it, I’ve driven an EQA very recently with Burmester on a review that I’m working on at the moment and I thought I was absolutely fine (better than my own car)
I’m not sure what you mean by the other things so give it a go, you can always get a refund from them if it doesn’t work out. Pretty sure it’s a 14 day refund policy but check with Mercedes before you buy.

This is why I use CarPlay (but you pay for data for your phone anyway so the cost is covered)
This charge would cover the data costs in the car.
You might still be thinking why…
The only reason why I would use this is if I had an EV. An in car’s multimedia system provides a better experience with sat nav if you own an ev as it can integrate with chargepoints for range.
I don’t have an EV, so I’m sticking with CarPlay! 😅
what a freaking waste ! on the new E class, would be nice if you able to use the selfie camera as a security alarm to remote view inside the car.

Yes that would be good if they did, I’m not sure why unless it was something to do with licensing or something?
My only guess is that it might have taken longer for those two services to go through for approval from Apple’s side and Spotify’s side? Tesla had the same thing, Apple Music was added dead last to their cars.
However I would then say an over the air update would have been good but it doesn’t look like that’s possible so there must be another reason or something :(
I activated mine the other day, so far not that impressed and certainly wouldn’t pay for it. It cuts out, asks you to connect to your phones data package, then starts working again. Personally just a pain. Helpful video regardless though 👍

You can use CarPlay for sure! I prefer it!
But some out there like the car’s in-built system.
And even more importantly, if you own an EV, using the car’s multimedia system and navigation is very important and it helps with navigating to chargers and pre-conditioning etc.
The native Mercedes system makes CarPlay look like crap. The built in Google map system alone is worth the price of admission.
If you read other reviews Mercedes multimedia systems are actually one of the easiest ones to use and the cleanest looking. Trust me I’ve seen some hideous examples out there! 😂😂
CarPlay all the way for me though, unless it’s an EV then that’s a bit different 🤓
MBUX is actually much more powerful than Apple CarPlay nowadays, from the augmented reality graphics over camera feed to so many other powerful features that you can only get with the native MBUX.
It’s truly impressive.

Stop making videos on terrible cars that arrive at dealerships broken. We don’t do PDI’s. We try and discover how they are not working.

This was also viewer requested which I spent time researching.
