Hip hop is more than music, it's a whole culture. Yes it has black American influence, but it was the diverse community of the Bronx that was influenced.

Imagine if it was from a ladies from Essence magazine, Jet magazine, TV One, the Root, BET, Fox Soul. I suspect the writers and reporters from those platforms aren't sent out in most cases. I suspect they volunteer to undermine out of spite thinking it will endure them to the dominant society.

Rap is one of the most popular genres in the world, but unfortunately its history has never been properly documented. Native Black Americans have rapped in music since the post emancipation era. However most books, articles and documentaries insinuate or outright claim that the genre is something new that started in New York with the Hip-Hop youth movement.

Spirituals, Ragtime, Jazz, Country, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented African American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly..
Latinos -- Puerto Ricans particularly -- please explain how you co-created or co-invented yet another installment in the legacy of Black Musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't co-create or co-invent any of the elements or ingredients of the 14 or so African American music forms that preceeded it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of African American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout, or even prior to the previous 14 or so African American music forms that are mentioned above? Yet then, all of a sudden--and out of nowhere, lying latinos and jamaicans slither along and falsely claim latinos and/or puerto ricans and jamaicans co-created and co-invented Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by Dr. Derrick Colon, radical latino, Fat Joe and numerous other un-informed and envious latinos---which are claims that latinos never mentioned, verbalized or asserted during its inception in the early 1970's)---latinos claims of "50/50--half & half co-creation and co-invention just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny which is leading to these claims being easily debunked--widespread. Nice try though latinos, puerto ricans and jamaicans.
    Make it make sense Latinos..

I don't know about latinos but you tell me why you copied floor moves from "Anatolia" pin drop, CCs, alphas ,headspin etc those moves are 10s of thousands of years old and don't come from America..and alot of the first pioneer writers where greek too Tak183i, SJK171, Barbra, Eva ,greg, philtgreek etc and Athens in Greece is the most heavily graffiti covered city in history like 5000years ago up till now ,even the spartans wrote there names and crew names everywhere they went..

Rap and Hip-Hop are both Black AmericanDOS creations, however they're two different things with different histories. Ninety-nine percent of the time when people say Hip-Hop what they really mean is Rap, the "Hip-Hop" term needs to be phased out when discussing music. Technically, Hip-Hop is a youth movement that was birthed in the Bronx and died there. The Hip-Hop term has been misused and thrown around loosely and inappropriately for decades, it's caused confusion and that's one of the reasons Rap doesn't have a proper standard history as a music genre. You don't associate the creation of Blues or Jazz with any type of separate youth or cultural movement so why would you do it with Rap?

The standard history of Rap was falsified by Afrika Bambaataa and the Universal Zulu Nation, the genre wasn't created by any one individual and it has no official birthdate its origin is more of a development. Rapping/Rap was developed by Blacks descended from American slavery during the post emancipation era(the latter half of the 1800s). The genre has nothing to do with turntablist DJs, sound systems, graffiti or breakdancing, those things belong to the Hip-Hop movement.
