Natural crotch rigging a small top - basic concept

Half hitch on a stub, then tie the top. Twist everything around so you can cut the face. Then turn everything back around so you can make your back cut. Always remind the ground guy to let it run...

The bottom half hitch is identical to the one above, was that done intentionally? It seems to run fine. For some reason I thought it might jam but as the log fell the contact point between the two ropes dropped to an area where both ropes were running free. So, no chance of jamming. Nice demo.

That's the basic concept, you use a half hitch on a stub as the rigging point, in place of hardware

Rope from the piece is the lower of the cross of the half hitch, otherwise the weight of the piece can jam the control leg of the rope.
