    The positive charge has an electric field going outward, the negative charges has the field going inward. Why is this? Is this a way to show that positive and negative charges attract, i.e. do the electric field lines show the movement of charged particles?

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  7 лет назад +1

      By definition the field lines show the direction of the force on a positively charged particle....

      @@stepbystepscience I am. It is definitely correct.
      WHAT IS THE EXPLANATION OF SPACE AND TIME ON BALANCE:
      Invisible AND VISIBLE SPACE in fundamental equilibrium AND BALANCE. This necessarily and clearly involves interaction, on balance. Consider what is the eye (on balance). Logically consider what is a two dimensional surface OR SPACE ON BALANCE !!!! Notice the associated DOME AND black “space” of what is the eye as well. Really think about it all. Consider WHAT IS THE SUN ON BALANCE. (NOW, think about time.) Outer “space” involves full inertia, AND it is fully invisible AND black. Consider one and three dimensions ON BALANCE !!! Now, consider what is the fourth dimension and the term c4 from Einstein's field equations. Think about ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy AND think about gravity (ON/IN BALANCE). Consider what is the man (AND THE EYE ON BALANCE) who IS actually standing ON what is THE EARTH/ground (ON BALANCE) !! Think about TIME !! Think about why there is something instead of nothing ON BALANCE. Consider that time is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. Think about the man (THE EYE) that actually IS IN what is outer “space”. Think about time. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky ON BALANCE, and consider what is the speed of light (c) ON BALANCE. NOW, consider what is THE SUN. Think closely about everything in this writing. Balance and completeness go hand in hand. Magnificent. ❤️

    How does a particle acquire its charged nature? Electrons, for instance, are 'negatively charged'. By what mechanism does this occur?

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  6 лет назад

      Like when you rub a balloon on your head (hair), that will move electrons from one to the other and they both become charged.

    can you pls help me answer this. Find the electric field at point P on the y axis and at a
    distance 0.4 m above the origin. The electric field is
    created by the three point charges as shown below.
    The charge q1 = 7x10-6 C is in the origin of the
    coordinate system, the charge q2 = -5x10-6 C is placed
    on the x axis 0.3 m from the origin and the charge
    q3 = -3x10-6 C is placed to the right of point P and at
    0.4 m above q2. Determine also the force exerted on
    a charge of 3x10-6 C when placed on the point P. My answer for the electric field is 4.78x10^5 N/C and the force is 0.82 N. Idk if it is right.

    is test charge has its own electric force

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  8 лет назад

      +Nik Angel Great question. The idea is that the "test charge" can be used to determine the direction of electric field without effecting the electric field. So therefore we would say that it does not have its own force. You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com

    why must the test charge be positive? why not negative?

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  8 лет назад +12

      That is a great question....Somewhere the powers that be decided that the field direction would be based on the direction of the force on a positive particle. Why I am not exactly sure. It may have to do with Benjamin Franklin and his assumption that current was the flow of positive charges. We now know that it is the negative electrons that flow but the conventional current is still considered to be the flow positive particle.....You could also ask, why is up and to the right considered to be positive...that is just the convention.
