  • Rocket stove with 4 cinder blocks!
SAFETY WARNING: Be careful when cooking near structures. Don't burn your house down.
The block was cut with a cement blade on a circular saw.
There are all kinds of amazing rocket stove ideas but this is one of Farm Girl and Exoman's favorites. It cooks very efficiently with just twigs and branches! Farm Girl and Exoman quickly cook burgers with a minimal amount of fuel.
This quick video shows how to make a rocket stove in just a 1 minute once you have a block with the end cut out.

Yes I agree with everyone about not doing this so close to the house but thank you for the instructions.
Also, Farm girl you are in amazingly good shape. My compliments.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I am in the direct path of Irma and I built this stove yesterday. Woke up this morning to no power and was able to boil some water really quickly to make my morning cup of coffee.

Exoman, the secret to a rocket stove is the chimney. The taller the chimney the hotter it gets and the less smoke you have.

I am amazed that you think building a fire next to a wall of your home is a good idea. Maybe it was windy or something, but hopefully people DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.

Love this idea! To start fire faster use Fatwood. It comes from Pinewood. One small piece will quickly ignite fire. The woods are full of it.
You both are amazing! Thanks for sharing this info!

My husband had a fire pit in the yard, lined with cement blocks once, and they EXPLODED! Cement never really cures, so I am told, and I guess some say it is not uncommon for the cement to do that when it gets too hot. It can be dangerous. He said cement chuncks were flying out towards his guests.

You got a nice breezy day. I did this yesterday for the first time and it struggled to get air. No wind at all. I'm going to try cutting a small vent hole in the back of the fire chamber to let air in from other side.

You are awfully Brave to do that near the house and a wood deck, we went to a structure fire pretty similar to that being unintended, house was a total loss. Remember, there could be hot ash falling from the bottom could fall underneath. Be careful.... peace

I'm watching. Nice spatula, I think I'm done eating nylon spatula or I think it might be a good idea anyways. The el cheapo high carbon fry pans I found cook so durn fast even I can manage not to forget I'm cooking and scotch the pan. Scotching the pan while your staring at the boob tube will occur at the stove more easily but hey your there to deal with it more easily.
