New Everquest TLPs Coming in 2024 - Free Trade Probable + My Thoughts

- There are multiple new TLPs coming in May of 2024, we will most likely see a classic server and another experimental server which should feature free trade and hopefully Mischief type rulesets with encounter locking.

I would love to see a server with a longer expansion unlock time. They are WAY too fast currently, at least for players like me.
agreed and the merging of some expansions of same level could help with this I think.

I'm all ears for them to do something new. But after playing on mischief, I can't see myself leaving for anything but mischief+ ruleset. Free trade is non-negotiable. Random look keeps the game more interesting and alleviates bottlenecks. And the increased rare spawn feels more respectful of players time. Esp on 2-3 month cycles.
I don't really know if they could give a new server all that, and more to be enticing over Mischief
Free trade is more than just buying your way into the game. I like being able to find an item, use it, and then pass it on to an alt on either that account or another one. If everything was heirloom, that would be close. I play on FV, and I love the loot rules there.
They really need to think outside the box. Allowing all class/race servers, Beastlords at release, etc... Some type of WoW SOD server for example. Just some examples.

Lol... I bought a black silk sash on ebay for my monk not long after he was born. Born December 1999 in Qeynos. I met the guy who sold it in the commons tunnel where he gave it to me once the ebay purchase cleared.
Heck, I'd be happy if they'd let you use your alts (on the same account as well as others; like sending a group invite but it's to accept service) as Mercenaries that you don't have to pay plat for. You get to gear them how you want, use the spells you want them to have, and otherwise have exactly the setup you like. 🤷♂️

While I agree with you, I think internally there are devs that hate free trade and see it as a problem. I would be surprised if they actually did do a TLP that included it.
And why would the devs hate free trade, what does it matter to them?
I've always thought it would be cool if they did a chaos style server where everything was randomized. Free Trade and Random loot with gold, loot, exp, rep, spawn timer, etc for each kill range from 100% to 400%; All races, classes, AAs unlocked day one. New spell/skill every 10 levels. Some spells/skills/AAs that are later in the game are added day one. They should just go crazy for the 25th Anniversary.
The only problem I had with random loot was that you didn’t really know where to go if you were looking for something specific. It was awesome to get unexpected loot, but some stuff only dropped from their original mob, and sometimes you would farm one mob for its normal drop and it never came. For example, everyone hoards the DE mask from the assassin in lguk during the first few weeks before Kunark since it changes to bard/rogue only right after. On Mischief, people were going to war trying to camp the assassin, meanwhile I had my three box right outside the room, hunting wizards and gargoyles, and the stupid mask dropped almost every time off the Ritualist. Sometime two would drop. Every single toon on my roster had one. No one bothers with the ritualist camp and it was dropping masks like water. I like the random loot thing in general but it needed to be tuned better in practice.

Nice take, but my bet is that there will be 2 servers with identical rulesets. One with truebox, the other with relaxed truebox.

I tried to play on Mischief, it just got to fast phased for me, sadly. I did not think the TLPs would be that hectic. In addition to being fast phased, they made the huge mistake (IMO) of releasing the expansion upgrade for both Live servers and TLP at the same time. Making it kinda impossible to cover both.

Lol you guys are killing me "too fast paced". If you commit a few hours a night to playing you can keep up easily. I would consider that casual for ANY game.
Keep up to what? leveling to max and then raiding? Yeah that's doable, I usually like to make alts or box a ton of characters go do old raids and farm things, I raided for awhile on Mischief with one of the top guilds and it felt like all my free time in game was spent raiding so there was never much of a chance to play for fun.
Too bad PVP is dead an original I love PVP server
