- General Hospital's Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) talks with Michael Fairman in an all-new conversation for the Michael Fairman Channel.
Nicholas shares what it has been like stepping into the role of Spencer, being a recast, and working with his GH co-stars including: Marcus Coloma (Nikolas), Avery Pohl (Esme), Maura West (Ava), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Genie Francis (Laura) and more.
In addition, Nicholas weighs-in on the burgeoning love story between Nicholas and Trina, now better known as "Sprina" and working in scenes with Sydney Mikala.
Chavez also reveals what his hopes are for Spencer moving forward and if the character will winds up being a take-no-prisoners Cassadine to gain wealth and power, and being one of the hottest newcomers of the soap season from the fans.

This is such a lovely surprise. Thank you for interviewing Nicholas. He’s such a lovely addition to GH and a special talent for all of soap opera. He and Sydney are doing truly remarkable work and I can’t wait to see what they do together in the future.
His casting was one of the best in years for GH. He’s fresh faced and talented.
Tell me 'bout it!!! Every last one of the Cassadine me in their younger days bloodline were very manly and greek handsome men. They remind me of the movie stars of men in the 1930's. Those men were handsome, well groomed with their hair slicked back or tobthe side for example, Rock Hudson, Robert Goulet, Henry Fonds, Fred Astaire, James Dean, Steve McQueen, Jerry Lewis, Marlon Brando, Bonnie n Clyde, Humpgrey Bogart, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, and Tony Curtis. Etc....etc....etc....What happen to the real manly men of Hollywood like these characters I just named????
Today the men in Hollywood dress in wierd looking outfits, the vouces are more feminine, the tiny Tim look somewhat nerdy looking characters exist on the TV Screens now a days.....I don't even care to watch the garbage that comes on tv now a days. 🙄🙄🙄

Nicholas Alexander Chavez is a star (a soap heaven) and now an Emmy winner (major A-list Hollywood player soon) - well done. He truly understands his role as Spencer Cassadine and I can't believe this is his first acting job.
Wow, I love his support for OGSprina always and now New Sprina.
I discovered OGSprina last year.
They reminded me of qualities of Pride and Prejudice 1995 or classic movies from the 30s and 40s, that did just enough to show you insane romantic chemistry (sexy (showdown of the eyes, epic first near kiss), emotional (intense makeup-breakup) and intellectual connections (art conversations etc.) between them without being boring.
You can replay/watch their love story over and over, plus they checked in as an instant super-couple (unbreakable) without being a couple yet.
I hope that Soap Journalists like yourself and others write about OGSprina in more articles, although they are done for now, soap history should be noted with some respect as well as the New Sprina.
Sprina fans also should appreciate what Sydney Mikayla (she made Trina Robinson heroine legacy character, and I think they both deserve awards and should be respected in any celebration of Sprina always) and Nicholas Chavez achieved was pure soap magic. Now, New Sprina is owning it also.
Again, well done Nicholas this is just the start.
This guy definitely have the 'IT" factor. GH should really try to lock him into a long-term contract. I would love to see him become the future of GH.

Nicholas Chavez is an amazing actor and its almost like it comes so naturally to him not to mention he's super handsome. Keep up the good work, you keep me glued to the tv watching everyday.

I love it that the chemistry he had with first Trina was able to exist with the new Trina ... true love!!!
I hope he stays as grounded, sensitive and introspective as I see him here. I could maybe chatter with him about movies until we fall asleep.
Sprina is something special. I hope they give it the time and story it deserves. Can't help but think about the Todd and evangeline story line on oltl and how special that was because there is some similarities here.
I thought the same thing!! I was a HUGE fan of Tangeline, and I can see the similarities, the bad boy, with the good, smart and caring/feisty girl, the long stares, the physical touches between the two. Oh, they definitely remind me if Todd/Van.
Gia and Nikolas. I would want to see Gia come back to show how Nikolas loved her. She was princess sparky.
I felt like Trina(Sidney) had so much potential to give us that Evangeline presence that has been lacking for me! I’m still a huge Trina fan but I really will miss Sidney❤️

This was a particularly great interview! (: I was disappointed they weren't bringing back Nicolas Bechtel but this Nicholas has immediately won me over!!! I so love Sprina!
I've been reading about Sprina on social media for a few months now & heard about the actors so I decided to check this out too. The #1 thing I took away from this interview is how smart Nicholas is with his acting choices & how hard he works at his craft. He thinks carefully & logically before doing a scene. You can't say that about all actors.

He is a great actor. He did a awesome job on General Hospital of finding out the truth of his dad with Esme. I was just amazed wat he did on those parts. Keep it up Spencer or Nicolas ur real name. 😎 well done

He’s very convincing at his acting. He’s good.
I love his take on how Spencer should progress. I feel the same. And Spencer looking at Trina and having a girl friend at the same time, makes him more of a Casanova.
This is an interesting interview, I would have liked to hear more of his thoughts on social media and technology I think you may have mistakenly cut him off. It would have been nice to hear the rest of his opinion on that. But overall an interesting interview. I'm unsurprised by his communication skills and depth of character study as a Virgo

To be so young and to bring it chemistry wise in a scene an actor giving all for the moment , is an actor who cares , who respects the audience, he's amazing as are SM(previous Trina) and the young actresses playing new Trina (TA) and Esme (AC) the real young are doing a great job and could give pointers to some of the older onscreen couples ,like boring Michael an Willow, sorry

A great choice for the Teenage Spencer Cassandine. He is a great actor. Just dump Esma. She looks too phony or nor real.

I like NC & MC, but I hate the direction they've taken Nikolas. Tyler & Bechtel had an adorable father/son bond & then the writers ruined it toward the end. I know it had to do with TC's departure due to health issues, but Nikolas just abandoning his son & then treating him coldly is so out of character.
Just don't act to cocky. Be respectfull to Josslyn, Trina, and Cam. And, go out with another girl, not that one you met in boarding school. You deserve someone better, not just for Sex, someone who has a good head on her shoulders. That girl doesn't know what she wants.

Umm, no. This is grown up Spencer. If you want old Spencer, go look at old clips. You just don't want to give Nicholas a chance. Life goes on. Nicolas Bechtel moved on and so should you.

They need to age up and return Emma Drake -- revive the competition between Cameron and Spencer over her. An important plot that is obviously missing here.
No, they don't. We have enough girls in the teen set. If anything we need another guy. Cam with Joss and Spencer will be with Trina. They aren't 10 and have moved on.
No way! What Spencer felt for Emma back then was just puppy love. Now, what he feels for Trina is the real thing, true love.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Emma back but she doesn’t need to have Cameron & Spencer fighting over her. I think we are past that. She definitely could be part of the teen scene though.

No offense to Nicholas Alexander Chavez, but I like the original actor who played Spencer much better. But the fast aging required a recast I guess. ~ P.S. I wish they would bring back the original Nicholas Cassidine actor Tyler Christpher.
Well, he's not coming back, so either rock with NAC or keep it moving because he's not going anywhere 🙄 😒
This Actor (NAC) is doing great as Spencer and I like him better than the original.
NAC is so gorgeous to look at especially when he smiles and his intelligence is just the cherry on top.
