i put in new waterpump, thermostat, coolant sensors, new coolant. i show you how i flush the radiator heater core and engine and how i take off air intake, serpentine belt, alternator, ac compressor, fan shroud, clutch fan. thanks for watching - Авто/Мото
Doing this job in a Dodge truck is so much more pleasant, with all the room inside the engine compartment. I found it more comfortable to stand inside the engine compartment after the shroud and fan and hoses were out. For those planning on replacing the water pump, it's wise to replace that little coolant bypass hose (shown at 10:13 and 18:37), as well. Yours looked pretty good, but mine looked terrible. It's very hard to replace it later without removing a lot of stuff, and with all the heat in the area it's prone to leaking. Great job, good video!
Good job I am doing 98 ..1500 R. Van today
Great detail and tips other videos leave gaps and questions
How long do you have tp wait to put the antifrezz back after a water pump repair?
As some of the bolts for the water pump extend into the water jacket you'll want to put thread sealant on them.
There are dimples on the back of the washer tank and the radiator reservoir, slide a large screwdriver behind them and the radiator shroud and they slide right up.
You didn't need all that sealant that's what the gasket is for
I'm in the process of replacing the water pump in my 02 Ram...the clutch fan is a pain in the butt. Loan-a-Tool here I come. Any tricks or best practices are welcome, needed and appreciated!!
It would sure have been nice if you would have given the vehicle details. . . . what year? what engine? Maybe you provide it somewhere during the 24 minutes, but I just don't have time.
Having a issue with my ram it's a 98 1500 192,000 miles its leaking alot when I drive idk if it's the water pump or timing cover
I just pulled off the water pump of my 1996 ram, got the truck from my nephew and water pump has been on there since new in '96.
Wondering if anyone knows the torque for the bolts that hold the aluminum bracket which supports the AC and alternator. Good video!
30 foot pounds, although, one video said it was 20 foot pounds so there might be some wiggle-room there.
Random question: What size tubing did you use to hook up to drain plug?
Great Job!!!!
Does the water pump housing have a sensor in it
Wow I watched this video 12 times got done in 2 hours total thanks for the vid!
First off...you are awesome!! Easy to follow with just enough info to keep a person interested and do the job right. If you weren't flushing the system and replacing the thermostat is it still necessary to move the alternator and a/c to replace only the water pump?
I have a question. My Dodge is leaking water between the transmission and the block. Do you know why?
what were the two names of the sensors ? thanks !
specific please
+chris The names of the sensors are as follows:
1. Coolant Temperature Sender - (1 terminal) Used to send temp to the gauge.
2. Coolant Temperature Sensor - (2 terminals) Used to send temp to the computer.
Here are links to both sensors for a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500

Hope this helps.
Dude good video I did this to my 95 Dodge 3.9L it was the same thing the bolts the brackets everything is the same. The only thing that I did not do was to change the coolant temperature sensor and the temperature sensor for the computer and the bypass hose I did not bought it new and now a few months have pass and now is leaking 😫😫😫😫 now I will try and put it on with every thing on if I can’t I have to pull everything apart nice video
Kody Sutton: check your coolant level. If your coolant is up to specs, then you may have a faulty thermostat. Great vid Geramicc. i have an 01 ram almost identical to yours except mine is 4wd. All of your videos really help me out in my repairs. Thanks man!
Can you respond to my comment since I have changed the pump twice. I am going to do it again tomorrow and would like to know why it leaks?
This is very informative. I just bought a 97 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2, never owned a pick up before and this is exactly what I wanted to do to it before I put it on the road! Well, also spark plugs and oil change and change air filter of course
now back i the 60's did they test muscle cars at gross hp with or without water pumps, or with or without radiators?
Tool for everything
It's never necessary to sand the surface where you going to install a new part, just clean it up the best you can because the gasket is there to seal imperfections, I also would recommend you to put antisieze on those bolts to prevent rust on them
Really loved your video. Very detailed and specific with un mounting and putting everything back together. Great video quality and angles.
Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge. It would’ve taken me forever to figure out how to get that second A/C compressor electrical connector disconnected.
This is the best video I've ever seen on this subject. Excellent camera work and excellent narration. Thanks so much.
Thank you! Jou helpt me a lot!!
Greetings from Belgium.
.
Thank you for this video man!!! I’m about to do this to my truck!
Nice video. short and sweet with all the information you need to do the job
Good video but I wish you would have shown how to bleed the system I need to do that part.
Your video was very helpful, I just replaced hoses, thermostat housing, water pump, the whole nine yards.
Now I'm still showing a little leak below the water pump on the big wheel at the bottom of the engine. Any ideas what I left undone? I thought I had done everything. ..
Thanks, figured out it was actually the timing chain cover gasket, good as new now. :)
When your replacing the two sensors which is considered the ECT sensor? My water temperature gauge doesn't register and I'm trying to replace it but I don't know which one to replace.
1 pin sensor.
Thank you for you video very professional, good bless you
Question my heat in my truck is going from Hot to cold and the thermostat gauge is rising really high itll get cold then it'll get hot and thermo temp goes back down any suggestions?
