Estive duas vezes em Rovaniemi. Uma no mes de abril e outra em agosto. Ví neve mas não tão frio em abril e final de verão em agosto. Não ví a Aurora Boreal. Da próxima mais ao norte, quem sabe?!

Acredito que a época em que vc está indo tem menos chances de ver a Aurora. O frio é necessário também e o ideal é ir de Novembro a Março. Mas claro que ir mais para o norte vai ajudar também.
