Well, he did say it'd be about games that aren't talked about on most lists, but rather small titles that barely got any coverage as a whole. Risk of Rain 2 certainly was one of the bigger indie "releases" this year
@M N ROR2 is a totally competent game. It's far from being "dogshit" unlike your edgelord contrarian opinion. Hating a game because you're not good at it is totally understandable, just don't go parading about saying the game is bad when it's just you that's bad.
The Longing is not a video game. It's a work of fine art. If you want to play a video game, play something else. If you want to see how something that's ostensibly a video game can be fine art, play it.
Never heard of this channel before today, but I got introduced to some very interesting games. Subscribed! I've already played a bunch DRG, and Clockwork God and monster train has been on my wishlist for a while but most of the other were news.

When you were describing what Noita was about, you said it was "obstinately" about XYZ, but I'm pretty sure you meant "ostensibly." They're both actual words, I'm just assuming that you meant the latter.
Can't overstate how much I enjoy just having your videos on. You're comfort food, and you always keep it interesting. I really enjoy how you convey your passion for these games, so genuine and almost pleading for us to try them and see for ourselves. I feel that. To have discovered something so wonderful and other people aren't sure about trying it yet.

Yes. Monster train was the surprise hit this year that consumed 300 hours even though I didnt know about it until 2weeks before the beta was over. And their devs are amazing at supporting the game
What you meant to say about Deep Rock Galactic was that it was adopted by Dwarf Fortress, and then launched out of a drawbridge into space.
Thank you for introducing me to Coffee Talk. Such a cozy and relaxing game. The writing isn't top-notch, but the graphics style and atmosphere, and most of all the setting, makes up for it. I've worked at several cafes and love that kind of work, and I like visual novel-type games, so this game was perfect for me.
Yes so glad There Is No Game is on here, played through it recently and absolutely loved it, was a big fan of the old flash game as well
Im so happy u mentioned DRG, i started playing it as soon as it went into pre-release and when i saw it finally released this year i was so impressed with the team, amazing game
Neat list. How does Unrailed play solo? That game looks really neat but I can never get round to playing multiplayer online.
Sorry nobody answered you, haha. Unrailed plays badly solo.
Awesome, this is my most anticipated video at the end of the year. I love discovering really creative indie games.
When the year hits 2100, You will HAVE to do 21 top best games!
Yeah we're all holding out.
I really want to thank you for making this list, especially for Pathless. I really love that game! Your video was somehow recommended by youtube to me on the front page and I was pretty sad, that I couldn't find it afterwards.... Now I did! Anyway... Thanks mate!!!
When your last spot was revealed, I actually cried. I love this game SO much, and it pains me that it hasn't gotten the praise it deserves. For Karl!
/r/thishappened?
Friend, I love how you mentioned SEVERAL games that just passed right under my 👃 . Thank you for that!
I’m disappointed that Risk of Rain 2 isn’t on this list.
Well, he did say it'd be about games that aren't talked about on most lists, but rather small titles that barely got any coverage as a whole.
Risk of Rain 2 certainly was one of the bigger indie "releases" this year
Ror2 has recognition already, this is more for overlooked diamonds in the rough
I'm disappointed that coffee talk is here because it's on the top of steam.
@@Shakzor1 But that doesn't even work out since he covered Spelunky 2, which wasn't exactly small either
Since it wasn't on the list, I thought I'd also recommend people check out Ikenfell.
Cool I’ll check it out :) I’ll be back in a few hours with an update
@@onyourleft9273 hey dude I'm waiting on that update don't sell us short
@@jimjamjingo791 ahh fuck I forgot to update anyways games great check it out :)
Thank you for the spider warning as someone with arachnophobia that means so much to me
Honestly i wish people gave hunt: showdown a fair shot
that games so gooooooood my friend and i play it from time to time its the only shooter i can get into
Never heard of this channel before today, but I got introduced to some very interesting games. Subscribed!
I've already played a bunch DRG, and Clockwork God and monster train has been on my wishlist for a while but most of the other were news.
Thought that I was one of the only weirdos that love The Longing.

That quick transition from the pandemic spell to the corona spell was, if intentionally placed, a clever little easter egg in this one.
*IMPOSSIBLE!*
Minecraft would never have a baby and abandon it! That wouldnt be E for Everyone!
Great list! 👍
1 suggestion would be to hold the banner showing the prices of the game a little longer or make it a little more obvious. I felt like I kept missing them and had to go back and find them.
When you were describing what Noita was about, you said it was "obstinately" about XYZ, but I'm pretty sure you meant "ostensibly." They're both actual words, I'm just assuming that you meant the latter.
The Mitchell and Webb reference to the event was top class, what a sign off
8:33 Of course I did, being Finnish and all.
17:10 so... Carrot Ironfoundersson?
I would i just like to say a quick thanks for making these videos because without them It probably would of taken me a while to find hollow Knight and outer wilds which are definetely two of my favourite games
Adam : *speaks about ghost runner*
Bonera : "haha karlson go brrrrr"
I'm estatic that One Step from Eden made an appearance! I've been loving this game for the last few months, and it's incredibly polished, but it's so obscure.
Great video as always so far, and a happy new year to you!
Rock and stone to the bone!
I look forward to this video every year now! I always end up loving at least one or two games on the list. I hadn't heard about Crumble or Pathless, but I'm getting both immediately. They have the exact kind of flow I'm looking for in a game right now
huh drg? wasn't expecting that. i've played it in ea, so it doesn't feel like it came out in 2020. great game tho. definitely check it out.
you owe it to karl.
rock and roll and stone.
love the feeling of 'hey, i know that game! glad it was mentioned'
14:36 how much were you paid to say this
see that was my instant reaction but then i realized even though the game has a very freemium mobile aesthetic it's genuinely good
personal one i have seen no one talk about is the game Ikenfell released mid October it is an turn based rpg with paper mario and now thinking about also mega man battle network esque combat mechanics in a gba style with lovely music and great characters i once saw it aptly defined as harry potter mixed with Undertale minus the transphobia i learned about it when GMTK briefly mentioned it for its disability options oh and little shoutout the xbox games pass has several of these
Coffee Talk and Pathless look really interesting! All in all I have never heard of any of these games! Thank you for this great list! Stay safe. ❤️
I cant believe this but... I clicked on this after playing lately Monster Train AND Deep Rock Galactic, searching for new titles ;'D guess I have to play The Longing now
