I'd be interested to see Austal put a missile vessel proposal forward, something with 8-12 Tomahawk Block V's or Konsberg NSM. Reckon RAN and Indonesia might go for that.
Still talking about those things !?! Why ??? Radar horizon of this ship is around 10 nautical miles, why must be armed with weapons having hundreds of nm range? It's like having a gun in a dark werehouse, you have no idea where to shoot !!! Cause this ship operate in EEZ if you know where is/are target/s you can even send there several trainers (Hawk) armed with missiles in hours... It's a patrol ship, let her patrol (or if you prefer is a police "patrol" car not a SWAT team on an armored MRAP, you'll never send a SWAT team on patrol it's a waste). On top optimum could be 2 sideway 25/30mm anti-drone/small-boat and a 76mm Superapido gun with Dart and Vulcano munitions so to cover 5nm anti-missile or 20nm anti-ship range, but a cheaper single 30mm will fit well for her mission. 76mm is perfect for few larger OPV reaching Christmas or Cocos islands. Never forget this are peace time ship with "big" opponents sometimes as 100.000 tons merchant that's why a 76mm on OPV maybe on mission to far for our planes. By the way if you want to sink for sure a ship and you can get so close is better use a torpedo even a 324mm light one (same weapon as on Frigate/Destroyer)

12/10/2022 Good show Austal. These boats are next generation to those two which the RAN is getting soon; not to mention their older sisters. When did tis design option come about. You going from boats to ships keep going!
The 60M OPV would be perfect for both the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Navy, is especially in the southern waterways like Sulu Islands, Tawi-tawi, and Visayas Islands. Ideally not as replacement for older OPV. But supplementing them and freeing up other assets like the upcoming HDP-2200+ OPV for the West Philippine Sea where its more needed. Also could be used by the PCG escorting re-supply mission to the Sierra Madre.
You have Sentinel class in USCG that fit perfectly just to expensive in my opinion, this are a little bit to large (so expensive again) for a peace time (not warship) vessell
has mine-avoidance sonar for a 60m opv, yet didn't include ffbnw HMS for their 83.4m opv design. even if their client didn't require HMS, wouldn't it be better to include ffbnw HMS to make the opv versatile & the product more attractive
Too bad it doesn't have VLS, and is constrained to 26 knots. This would be a perfect vessel to harass adversary ships and support other surface vessels. Even better if this was a frigate.
@@triplez300 You said it Duh Fk chinese vessels you can stick them up your bum .We make better ships in Australia anyway .I think the problem here is you can't Wright properly .
Certainly like to see at least ten of these with 40 mm bofor canon, a 30mm canon on each side, decoys and anti air systems. Got to beef the RAN up.
the 40 mm more up front and a searam behind it

RAN is wasting its money on Lursen OPVs we should be buying variants of these

60 meter is enough size for battle.. less expensive.
Indonesia dan Malaysia dah la jgn bergaduh ayuh bersatu di jalan Allah
How do you intend on getting an accurate gun with only 2D radars?
Let's get some of these in the U.S
Be nice to have them m Australia. Currently building Lursen 80 m OPVs with virtually zero armament

I think for rear arms one ciws should be better option than anti air missiles
We need this type of vessel for Indian Navy

I like it very nice
This is good for the coasr guard
Is the RAN ordering any of these anyone aware of?

Proposal for armaments
2x Typhoon MK-30c
1 x SIMBAD RC
8 x Spike ER 2
How much per unit
I guess arround 50 million. The aluminum hall 58 mt vertion for trinidad and tobago cost 44 million the unit.

This ship is so unsafe, as there are two ladders at the back of ship. This enables enemy commando to sneek in on the naval crew
and then the Philippines Canceled their order of these. LOL
Astal should leave the Philippines
😅
Why not something like Chinese Type 22 missile boat? Australia need many of those boats to defend the costal line.
bruh
Well we are not going to buy off the Chinese to defend ourselves against the Chinese 😂
