You are so articulate, that I watched all the way through. I was beginning to wonder if I needed the xl version as I just bought the mk2 with 15 buttons but with the profiles, I don't need to do that now. Great video thank you
oh good! Glad you enjoyed. Honestly, sometimes I wonder about the XL too but with the pages/profile buttons of the small one I still love my lil one over a year later!

Great video--learned so much from this, so thank you. Is there a way to use the text function to upload a file to chat (not by sharing a link, by sharing an actual PDF attachment in chat)? Thanks in advance.😀🏳🌈✅
@@FacilitatorCards bummer. That would be amazing (to preload like the chat feature--which is going to be amazing--usigng that text-to-chat feature today for the first time.). Another question....You instructed on how to do the "show chat" and "show participants" windows, but is there another shortcut to closing those windows? Or do we need to mouse click away?
Just bought a Stream Deck and have watched a number of "how to" youtube videos: this is the best one so far. Straight forward and clear. It offers the most info on Stream Deck options and tricks in a really accessible way in one tutorial and it will have you up and running fast in Zoom with your Stream Deck. Thanks, Megan! (One question for you: how can I change my Zoom "backgrounds" in preferences automatically via Stream Deck? There is no hot key for this, so is there another way to do this?)
Hey Frances! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial/walk through! So as far as I know, if it's not in keyboard shortcuts - there isn't a Stream Deck work around - that's the basic rule of thumb. Stream Deck isn't doing anything unique with Zoom, it's more just a second brain that remembers all the little tricks for us!
That said, I *think* I remember reading somewhere for windows users that you can use Stream Deck to do specific clicks on specific spots of your screen, so possibly with a multi-action you could set this up but I don't have a windows computer so I never looked into it (and personally think this sounds more stressful than it would be time saving if you had to do it this way :)
Hey legend! This was great! Thank you! Do you know how I can hit a button to get zoom to share straight to my ipad? without having to clicking share to ipad?
Heya! Glad you enjoyed the video. So with Streamdeck and Zoom the general guidance is that you can program anything into Streamdeck that you can do with keyboard shortcuts (plus cool things like text etc.) There IS a keyboard shortcut to bring up screen share, but as far as I know there isn't a way to specifically have it select the 'share ipad' one specifically. So you could have a button that would bring up that initial screen, but you'd still need to select "share to iPad" with your mouse.
Thanks for the video. It's helped me zet up my Zoom meetings so much easier. Question: Is there a way to attach a document and send through the chat via the Stream Deck?
Hey! So Glad it was helpful. Soooo I don't believe there is. The way that Stream Deck interacts with all the Zoom features is through keyboard shortcuts and I just looked and didn't see an option for a keyboard shortcut for that one.
One alternative option would be to have a document in Google Drive or another cloud service and then share the link to that document in the chat with the text feature rather than upload the document itself to the chat.
@@FacilitatorCards It worked!!!! I uploaded my files onto Google Drive, then linked it via the Multiaction -> Text and it works. Now I can hit a button and a link shows up in Zoom Chat. Thanks so much for the tip...
Just got my stream deck. This was a great overview. I loved the text shortcuts, but, wanted it to put the focus on Zoom, open chat, type the note. So, I created a multi-action, (open zoom, cmd-H, text). Worked great the 1st time, but - the cmd to open chat is also the same as close chat. So, if chat was open - it closed it, and lost the keystrokes... Uggg... Any ideas?
Hey Clark... well my suggestion honestly wouldn't be to create a multi action. I personally click a button on the stream deck to open the chat and then put all the text files on separate buttons to sorta avoid that closing/open problem. I realize that's not ideal because if you're in a different program you're having to focus on zoom, then hit the chat open and then the thing but that's the most reliable way I do it is one button programed to open the chat and then a separate for the text
I was hoping that you would cover how to start the meeting if there is a meeting that you normally join all the time can you type that URL in to just go to that meeting?
You could definitely set up a hotkey on your Streamdeck with the "text" feature that has the URL in it and then if you're in the browser bar you can just press that key for it to type in the text and automatically hit enter!
@@FacilitatorCards thank you … l reviewed your video again right after I sent question and got it to work just in time for my zoom meeting. What a blast 💥. Thank you!
Hey Ken! So short answer, I don't think you can. Long answer, Stream Deck is basically saving and using keyboard short cuts in Zoom to do all the fancy commands that you can set it up to do. So if you're wondering, "How do I get Stream Deck to do X" if there is a keyboard shortcut for it then you can do it! If there isn't, then generally the answer is you can't. The only exception really to this that I've found is sending things in the chat because stream deck has the ability to open up the chat and then you can send things using the text key.
Hi! Great video. I'm running into a problem with the chat shortcut on the streamdeck. It works to pop out the chat but it doesn't hide it after pressing again. I tried the Hotkey and Hotkey Switch. Anyone else running into similar issue? I'm not sure what to do and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!
Hey Ali! Are you on a mac or PC? I just tried it on my mac and it worked fine. Does it work when you just use the hotkey shortcut (i.e. on mac when you hold down shift + command + H and then do that again) does that toggle it open and closed?
@@yomeg895 So I figured something out! As context I had encountered this issue before but gave up yet after watching your vid I went on the mission to find the solution. I reached out to zoom but since I don't have live rep support it was no good. I turned to el gato and within minutes I was on the phone talking to someone troubleshooting. While talking to Patrick I became aware that I had the chat box pop out feature enabled so whenever I hit the shortcut it would pop up (in the middle of my zoom screen) but would not go away unless I Xed it or mouse moved it. The fix came when I integrated the chat box to the main zoom box. There the shortcut worked. Finally, I saw that there's a "hide current chat session" shortcut avail but that's greyed out for me. Hopefully Zoom support can let me know what's up with that. Thanks for responding and again your video is great :)!
Hey Andrew. Yes! So the same way we programed "Mute all" or the button to bring up the chat with hotkeys, there is a hotkey for switch camera. On mac it's Shift + Command + N. On PC just look at the list of keyboard shortcuts in Zoom to find it. Then you'd just use that function on a hotkey button on Streamdeck! LMK if that makes sense!
🎈👍🏻💪😁 Does anyone know what is the shortcut key to start my Zoom Personal Meeting using an Elgato key? I want to be able to program a multi-action key where is will automatically open Zoom and start my Personal meeting?
As far as we can see on Zoom there isn't a keyboard shortcut for this (the start personal meeting part). If you have a PC I think there is a way to program a specific mouse movement and click on Stream Deck but unfortunately we're primarily mac heads so wouldn't be test it but if you figure it out, let us know!
If you create a "Multi Action" button, you can then do the following: Open - Point it to Zoom Delay - I used 2000ms (2 seconds) just to ensure Zoom window was in focus Hotkey - For Mac it's Control+Command+V to start a meeting
Thank you so much for helping out! 😃 Thanks to both of you, I was able to create a multi-action button that would first open the Zoom application and then used hot keys to TAB 11 times and then the ENTER key. I also, as suggested by Walter to add in delays, to ensure it would “click” the button at the right time. It is not a perfect solution, but one that helps me open Zoom, join audio, open the chat box and participants box. I hope Zoom adds a Windows shortcut to Starting a Zoom meeting soon.
