Practice. Start out by learning the minor pentatonic or blues scale. Learn how to do a basic blues jam. I know, a lot of people don't like the blues but it's the basis for rock and roll. It's like your chassis or something. Just learn it, it needs to be done. Then learn it up and down the neck. Then learn your major and minor scales up and down the entire neck. Practice speed, do some exercises, whatever. Then start learning solos. you can start out with like Pink Floyd or something a little slower. Move up to Van Halen. Get some tip and tricks, learn some licks and techniques. Spend 10-15 years perfecting your technique and you're all set. Okay so it isn't exactly easy but you can do it if you really want. You've got to really want it. There's one piece of advice that stuck in my mind. There was an issue of Guitar World in which the cover read something like "Steve Vai reveals how to become a guitar God" or something. Inside he says "Practice your ass off."
Reminds me of the old joke . . ." Hey,who called the guitar player a son of a bitch? Beats me,I want to know who called that son of a bitch a guitar player" ? Sorry, try as I might I just can't like him. Love me some Les Claypool on bass though.
+fzadrenaline1 the only reason I know who that is is because I saw a top gear bbc episode where they were racing him and making fun of American cars. :(
Astonishing. Just astonishing. I'm an old git of 62 and I've never seen guitar playing like that. He's a genius. Clean, wonderfully musical playing. Wow.
+Pip Pipster yeah theres been alot of shredders but I mean nobody really sounds like him. it sounds like a computer freaking out and game effect bleeps and bloops, robotic like. I've never heard evh, steve vai, paul gilbert, yngwie malmsteen etc. sound like this
Wow that was awesome. It's the first time I enjoyed his weird diminished runs.. it creates a feeling of tension like you've just lost your stomach on a scary ride.. and you can't wait to get to the next section or get off.. haha.
screamengine ah yes the higgs "buckethead" boson, though to be fair Higgs bosons are most likely the primary component in BH. The one case in which they work like that.
I love Buckethead... he can write/play anything from beautiful, earnest sounding melodies that instantly remind you of home, OR he can make his guitar sound as if it is actually a malfunctioning computer on the verge of meltdown, as is the case in this vid! SOOOO versatile :D
Primus and buckethead playing together must be the soundtrack that plays over and over in hell.... or maybe it's heaven I forget.... either way I love it
I think Buckethead is a great player, but stuff like this makes it seem like he is mocking the crowd. He could play something way better sounding that actually feels like it was thought out.
This isn't about the notes.. people keep saying where's the good music there's no soul.. if you listened to the guy in the beginning talking about the 'ballad of buckethead'. The whole point of this song was to sound confusing.. also I dare anyone who cannot prove that they can play this fast to say they can play this or 'this isn't hard'. Last note, this song has character but you are all too up yourself on 'good music' whatever that means. To say that this isn't. It's original, it's got a point to the way he's playing it, fast but confusing, the story is that he's a lost bastard raised by a preacher man in a chicken coop that is half alive and dead and scares children. What did you seriously expect..
Hysterical!!!!! I've got a student that Yells "John Cena" whenever he can and it is Always Hilarious!!!! This man is such an amazing artist. I will never tire of listening to him.
This video isn’t sped up in any way when Bucket starts playing, right? How the hell does someone as big as he is move his fingers so quickly? I’ve been watching videos of him for the last few hours and how in the hell did he get this quick?
Its a shame, one of the best guitarist of all time and ive maybe enjoyed maybe 4 or 5 of his solos ever. Damn u buckethead! Does he have a good blues or laid back album thats really good?
What a fucking row! That’s the trouble with Buckethead. For every “Soothsayer” or “Nottingham Lace”, there’s ten albums of tuneless shite he’s recorded. I mean “Crime Slunk scene” has “Soothsayer” and “Buddy Berkman’s Ballad”. And they are just excellent! The rest is Cak!
SvenTviking no it's not. And you're commenting that under a fucking jam... Well. Here's a bunch of good buckethead songs, then. Coupon, soothsayer, nottingham lace, er, N, lurker at the threshold, magellan's maze, Eerie canal, claymation courtyard, lebrontron, dawn appears, big d's touch, beyond the knowing, padmasana, aunt suzie, for mom, i love my parents, scraps, whitewash, swomee swan, frozen brains tell no tales, planeta, spell of the gypsies, star chasing, king james, lebron, siege engine, the redeem team, relic, final wars, animal behavior, interworld and the new innocence, machete, inferno, golden eyes, angel monster... Just pick any one of these
With his double handed technique he kinda recreated the instrument. I know there's bands like rings of saturn or crazy players like Vai but he made it his own. Honeslty, does anyone know a solo artist who has put out more music than buckethead?
"Whatever I'm more of a rhythm guitar player."
*starts sobbing*
Literally me rn.
Lol, me too bro, I know the feels.
don't feel too bad buckethead is actually just the reborn jesus

This must be what they mean when a recipe calls for shredded chicken.
ericynot nice
damn bro :D
I must say that this is the most appropriately placed comment I have ever seen on RUclips
Shit
No don't say that you will make him cry 😢
I saw this tour and knew nothing about BH. He just calmly wandered on stage and blew everyone away. Been a fan since.
did he do nunchucks?
Bh?
Seba Zabala buckethead
Same for me!
I honestly doubt that Buckethead is human.
Wiencon Hes a robot
Maxi Escalante he is a chicken
+Clyde Rockway He's a Robot Chicken.
+Wiencon Hes a robot chicken abandoned as a child and raised in a coop later to open his own coop called BuketheadLand
+Clyde Rockway he's both
That's not a plastic mask, that's the way his face naturally looks.
both wrong,he said plaster
HE definitely said "Placid Mask".
John Keys what title of song
if Les Claypool says its a plastic mask then its a plastic mask
@Muhammad The Ballad Of Buckethead.
That guy sure loves notes
Sometimes it takes a thousand notes to make a single sound.
+Rory MacCormack That's very original.
🤣💕
Gobbles them up for breakfast.
Gobble gobble.
I love this comment forever.
Some say, when the stig isn't racing which is his most favourite thing. He plays guitar under the name of bucket-head.
+brian nielsen Exactly
+fzadrenaline1 the only reason I know who that is is because I saw a top gear bbc episode where they were racing him and making fun of American cars. :(
Python570 why not? its not like you'd drive them.
But we can't confirm, all we know is, HES CALLED THE STIG
brian nielsen his most second favourite thing
he never miss a note or a chord, he's not human ...
+Mar ioagus there are examples where he does miss a note or two in other performances, but it is a rare occasion.
Mar ioagus look up big sur moon first vid up, go to .39 in video he misses a note it obvious, your welcome
You can't say Buckethead doesn't know what music is. You clearly haven't heard enough BH.
@@spyderhex Sometimes robots can malfunction ya know?
Zacattack you’ve never heard electric tears
Astonishing. Just astonishing. I'm an old git of 62 and I've never seen guitar playing like that. He's a genius. Clean, wonderfully musical playing. Wow.
It's a slang term. "Old git" means a decrepit old man... :-).
Really ??? BH is v v good - but shredders like it all over the place = quick scales with a fast pic.
Where you been last 62 years dude ?

Pip Pipster Playing Irish traditional music - I'm a fiddle player. Found BH videos by accident.
Wow that was awesome. It's the first time I enjoyed his weird diminished runs.. it creates a feeling of tension like you've just lost your stomach on a scary ride.. and you can't wait to get to the next section or get off.. haha.
im high and just watched that last solo for what felt like 2 hours, fucking insane
buddy I know this exact feeling right now
The end sounds like the old video game Galaga.
RICHIE CHANDLER i though only me think so 😁😁
Or maybe centipede?
I think the end was some of his riff from "Jordan"
Man I love bucket head
Something, something...all your base are belong to us.
👈😎👉
This is the soundtrack to the higgs boson.
screamengine ah yes the higgs "buckethead" boson,
though to be fair Higgs bosons are most likely the primary component in BH.
The one case in which they work like that.
Wow, I actually get that. Bravo for that one.
I was there, I was 6 years old and my Dad took me. When Primus came out he brought me out to the front and put me on his shoulders.
Im sorry to hear that. A six year old?
I like that two of the weirdest musicians ever are best pals.
This is honestly one of the best videos on the internet
So Buckethead really is a robot! 2:10 you can see his power cord. Think it's his guitar lead? Well you're wrong, skip to 0:55 .
It's a message from some distant alien civilization. And this is their messiah.
....Allan Holdsworth has that number. Captain of the Alien race.
Well stated my man...
The action on that guitar is incredible
Dr. Rockso was thinking the same thing! Damn I gotta get mine that low!
Jamesiety Gaming that made me laugh so much
Don't doubt Bucket for a second.
he visto esto tantas veces a lo largo de tantos años, es simplemente increible, quiza vuelva a ver mi comentario de aqui a unos años.
Have you listened to some of his less "shred" compositions as you put it? He has some great melodies and fantastic riffs. And you are just jelly, bro
haha this concert took place on my 11th birthday. I can't even remember what I did for my 11th birthday. I wish I had been at this show.
I like how he makes his guitar sound like an old video game
Yes!!Ive been a friend and fan for over 30 years .He is the GOAT
Damn.... That's it. I'm now going to own 3 guitar shaped coffee tables
i betcha thats an actual gold slide
I could listen to this non-stop
Spiders be like man I wish my legs were that fast

His guitar tone is fucking badass.
LOL best intro of a band mate ever.
It’s 2021 and BH is still one of the most completely guitarded players of all time.
I'd like to see a future president dress in some bizarre way like BH and do it everyday. If not the prez then several members of congress.
hello I'm calling from the future. you were kinda right actually. the president is bizarre, just in a different way...
INCREIBLE ... IMPOSIBLEE buckethead numer one of the word
Plot twist: Paul Gilbert is Buckethead
+Christopher Beeman ...their hands are too different but wouldn't that be awesome!?
+Drew Campbell Not only that but they are both too busy to be producing and touring in different locations at the same time ;)
+Drew Campbell buckethead is like 6 foot 5 lol
+Christopher Beeman Impossible, Gilbert can´t play that good...
+Nihilistický HellRaiser... agreed
I think Buckethead is a great player, but stuff like this makes it seem like he is mocking the crowd. He could play something way better sounding that actually feels like it was thought out.
He has, frequently
Insane quality! is there more?
Just plain amazing.
he’s like those masked guys in fuckin gaming tournaments that don’t eat or drink anything and beat everyone
holy fook, i've never seen this! made my day.
Bass tabs?
Ben Coleman use your ears.
andybremner 92 its hard for beginners
Tommy Poe you'll be a far better musician if you learn early to rely on your ears. Using tabs you'll never develop natural ability and instinct.
andybremner 92 it still shouldn't be forced, i almost stopped playing music cause i was so frustrated. its something you learn as you play.
Seconding Bendy's comment
It is the guitar that paul gilbert gave him. Its an Ibanez Rocket V Custom. Few were made.
WITH NO FRET MARKERS!!!!!!
***** congratulations! that was the most douchbag comment ever!!
Eniweiss you seem like the kind of person who stares into space while everyone else laughs at a joke
They're on top, where mainly just the guitarist himself can see them.
Aw man. You ruined Buckethead for me. Justin Beiber here I come
Merry Xmas to you all.
Where did you get this footage? And, is this the same footage from the Ozzfest clip?
Plot twist Larry Lalonde is buckethead
But he's right there...
0:19

check out buckethead is god on here, bad ass video
Listen to All in The Waiting and Soothsayer and tell me he isn't the most soulful AND best guitar player you've ever heard.
Its Tom morello definitely at the beginnig you can see this and then changes to Paul gilbert
Why is your picture an ass cheek?
"kkk" é o melhor jeito de entregar que você é brasileiro uashduhasud

Hysterical!!!!! I've got a student that Yells "John Cena" whenever he can and it is Always Hilarious!!!! This man is such an amazing artist. I will never tire of listening to him.

I'm impressed with the video quality
The glitch tapping is otherworldly
Give Buckethead a guitar without killswitch :D
diepansen2341 the universe implodes
Buckethead will find a way you know hes shredded on acoustic guitars before right
He would make one on the spot, from buttle cap and bobbypin
You'd suddenly find out he can palm mute with the same precision as the rest of his playing and we would realise that nothing can stop him
What year did Bucket start using the early white les pauls regularly?
All I can say is The Mighty Buckethead 😎🎸!!!!!!!!
This is amazing
I play just like this and teach you how at my channel!
I'd like to hear bucket head play with rings of saturn
purple tortex....my favorite guitar pick!!!

Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains
Its a shame, one of the best guitarist of all time and ive maybe enjoyed maybe 4 or 5 of his solos ever. Damn u buckethead! Does he have a good blues or laid back album thats really good?
Colma, electric tears, tucked iinto dreams
@TheJombur there are inlays on the side of the neck :)
PS
How does violin players do without a frets?
The glitch rasping is otherworldly
How does he do that without the dot inlays on the fretboard?
WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD EVER DISLIKE THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!! THAT WAS THE MOST INSANE THING IVE EVER SEEN
He was a Paul Gilbert student if I remember correctly
@GasserVsGoodyball It's a Jackson Y2KV, a variant of the King V. But it's custom, so I couldn't tell you the exact specs.
Does anyone know the song the guy plays in the background
Soviet Doge seconding this comment
That intro was lit as fuck for some reason
the guitar player its Buckethead a Paul Gilber Student
I knew he had unbelievable hands for playing the guitar.....but holy shit, the first two bones of his pointer finger span the entire neck with ease!
He's from another dimension ...
Wow .... Dammm .... great !
The entire end of the video sounds like a level in Super Mario Bros Deluxe.
@jszy
i think it was custom made. but i heard ibanez makes RG's with 30 frets...
It's a killswitch. Very easy to install and fun to use!!
is this just a random video you came across? or is there more? i am curious where you found this.
also look up little gracie, i love my parents, colma (
awesome version of the song

Just pick any one of these
DMac604 you’re the best
Anyone else notice that his guitar has 26 frets?
The last 40 seconds is a message being sent to a planet within our solar system it says come to earth they have fried chicken
That's Bucket Head... I believe he is also the French Stallion.
Where did he fucking got that guitar? İt was discontinued decades ago and it is expensive as fuck!
One of his old guitars that he used when learning.
Watches 2 minute video, then reads comment for 5 minutes... yea I have no life >)
He was a member of Guns N Roses over a decade before you posted this...so you shoulda know who he is at the time of posting!
i want to play like this guy
With his double handed technique he kinda recreated the instrument. I know there's bands like rings of saturn or crazy players like Vai but he made it his own.
Honeslty, does anyone know a solo artist who has put out more music than buckethead?
THIS IS SP... excuse me BUCKETHEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAADDDD!
