Thank you for this video. I recently had a severe flare of PM. My CK went to 3300, difficulty of walking and I fell once while standing up unsupported. I had to take IVIG, and later take immunosupressant and methylprednisolone. Now my CK is around 300 and I don't have fever anymore. I have started to feel that some muscle function slowly coming back. I want to start physiotherapy next week. This video helps me in understanding the benefits of exercise and the progression that we can work for.

(PM here) How about those of us who have to work? I never feel well, weakness is progressively getting worse. I need to exercise but don't have the luxury of being able to do it every other day as recommended. There are no down days in my life, ie my muscles work every day. Would adding in a exercise program over my normal schedule do more harm then good?

Hi there. The functional index 2 doesn't take too long. Aside from working and daily activities, the functional index 2 targets specific muscles that not be used effectively otherwise. I would start very slowly to ensure you don't overdo it. It is best if you could get in with a physical therapist to at least have them go over the exercises with you and to help create a schedule.
