Thank you for posting this recording! Personally, this symphony brings many fond memories of my teen years, as I performed it with the Guatemala Youth Symphony Orchestra. This symphony has similarities with Beethoven and Haydn; in my opinion, and having performed this work several times, it is a lovely symphony in its own right.

Lovely to see this score - the last movement's Haydnesque moments have a lot of fire!

Well, I certainly wouldn't be insulted if some people thought my symphony was Haydn or Beethoven. I mean, really.

IV. movement: Interesting work, much more 'listenable' than I thought. To me personally, this is much more along the lines of Haydn/Mozart than Beethoven (except maybe 23:41 resembling Beethovens 1st), with its sequences and phrasing, even though it sometimes lacks the ingenious playfulness and cheekiness Mozart was known for. The orchestration is pretty heavy duty, but the themes are pretty straightforward, and the development is nice. If I had to use an analogy, this is like if the Prague Symphony, the Linz Symphony and Beethoven 1st's last movement had been mixed together.

I agree with you, but I would say it resembles Haydn's symphony no. 90 in C major more than Mozart's Prague symphony. Haydn no. 90 + Mozart Linz + Beethoven no. 1

I agree with you, but in my opinion the the style of the symphony is very haydnesque. Listen for example to the orchestral outburst in the first movement at 2:49. It remains me of the "Miracle Symphony" from Haydn.

Even after reading the description, Beethoven would not be my first guess for the composer.

Haydn comes to mind, especially the last movement.
