I don't understand the "hosts for this evening" thing. Why was John so obsessed with that phrase? xD Where is it from?
It's from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus which was a concert show organized by the Rolling Stones on 11-12 December 1968. The show was filmed on a makeshift circus stage with Jethro Tull, The Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and The Rolling Stones.
John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono also performed as part of a one-shot supergroup called The Dirty Mac, featuring Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell (also part of The Jimi Hendrix Experience), and Keith Richards.
John was asked to introduce the Stones in the Rolling Stones Circus film in a certain segment. He was kind of pretending to be anxious about it as if it was going to be his claim to fame, and soon it became one of his many little repeated skits
