  • The Mystery Ranch Pop Up 40 hunting pack has so much potential, but what holds the Mystery Ranch Pop-Up 40 pack back is the small details. It could be the best hunting pack, but the Mystery Ranch Pop Up 40 pack has annoying locking webbing buckles and pressure based webbing glides. These really slow you down and can be difficult to use in cold gloved conditions. It somewhat ruined the experience for me, too much webbing and locks.
But, I did love how it carried the weight and was comfortable over the course of 8 miles we traversed on the opening day of deer season here in Pennsylvania.
    From Mystery Ranch:
For those wanting a higher-volume daypack that stays low-profile and functional during your hunt, the POP-UP 40 stands ready - and it has the chops to shoulder some serious load lifting to boot. This pack’s OVERLOAD® feature allows hunters to instantly transform it into a bona fide meat hauler. The telescoping frame offers a hefty 80-lb. capacity that houses the bulk of the weight close to your back for exceptional comfort during long hauls back to your rig. When you need to get moving after a kill, the POP-UP 40’s face compression securely stows a bow or rifle, freeing your hands for trekking poles or navigating difficult terrain. In the meantime, ample pockets and storage compartments stow gear and rations close at hand, and a combination of zippers and a drawstring shroud allows you to grab whatever you need at a moment’s notice.
    KEY ATTRIBUTES
The POP-UP FRAME feature converts this daypack into a load-hauling system for those shorter, successful day hunts when shouldering out the brutal weight is necessary for extraction. This function allows the frame to easily expand and adjust to carry loads up to 80 lbs. It features expandable pole stays and a load shelf.
OVERLOAD® feature provides functional expandability via a load sling between the pack and the frame, allowing you to put the bulk of the weight closest to your back for optimal comfort.
Hunting Light Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length
Integrated ¼” - 20 optics thumbscrew allows you to thread your camera, spotting scope or rifle mount directly to the frame for optimal stabilization

I’m running the Kifaru Charge with the Sherpa. Can’t get enough of it. I debated on the mystery ranch..But what sold me on Kifaru, is produced in the USA, and great customer service.

even better than heat shrink, in my opinion is automotive tubing like the ILBE pack had.

I got the 30 and probably wish I got the 40. But idk if I would even like it still. It’s a cool pack but it’s loud and has like 2 pockets.

Yea, too much going on with it in my opinion.
