That DHL A300 landing succesfully with no hydraulics and effectively only the use of ONE WING is one the most incredible feats of airmanship of all time.
For a huge chunk of the top of the fuselage to break off and the plane NOT break apart in flight and then it was able to land safely would be unbelievable to me if you couldn't show me the plane. Truly mindblowing
That’s because it was built by one of the worlds greatest legendary aerospace manufacturers, Boeing. If it ain’t Boeing I ain’t going!
There is a God.
@@sharoncassell9358 Impossible to deny in this instance.

"Most of the worst crashes were simply lacking a fellow like myself who would have screamed "NOT ON MY WATCH" then dug deep into my inner resources and found a way to save the day." - Brian Williams
Just what everyone in these situations need, a hero and legend in his own mind like you!
What a cowardly act from that man Calloway. Respect to the pilots who fought him off and managed to land the plane safely. He should have been transported to a different hospital from the pilots though.

I’ve been waiting for this video a long time!!
Props to the cameraman for surviving all the crashes
You think he goes to all the planes? They are actors re enacting incidents and filming the copy not the actual event.
Bruh
I know that, no need to point it out, now it ruins the vibe
@@notsopro890 you ruin the vibe
Just for a joke LAMO
It's amazing that JAL 123 pilots actualy saved the lives of 4 out of 524 without the tail
It would have been a lot more had the rescuers bothered to search for them immediately as opposed to waiting till the next morning
@@surgeon1016 exactly, the big mistake was the fact that many people survived but died because the rescue teams were resting that night
They pilots did their best to save as many lives as possible but their efforts were in vain since rescue teams waited too long and by the time they arrived only 4 had survived the night after the crash
honestly i respect this crew may they rest in peace ❤
If that fedx guy wanted to claim on his life insurance.. why would he leave a suicide note ?
He can’t have been that intelligent
no idea, but he may tried to kill himself while at work to claim that life insurance
I’ll never be able to understand why a person who wants to kill themselves does it and intentionally takes a number of innocent lives with them. Dam them, they have the choice to take their own life but no right at all to make that decision on other innocent lives. That’s got to be a nonstop, riding 1st class section, ticket to hell!
What's life insurance?

Great video as always Smithsonian. 11/10
Thanks for sharing❤
Love your videos I’ll give Smithsonian in my humble opinion a 15/5
Great videos as always,
That DHL landing was damn impressive, using only throttles, and (although a cargo plane) there was no injuries? After losing all hydraulics? Thats impressive
RIP to the people who died
Lol rip

The actors are doing a great job too 🙌
The actors are phenomenal! They say the exact flight dialogue and really make you feel like you’re there.
Sorry for ruining your joke. Its cute. But some foreigners or unfamiliar people think the actors & cameramen are actually on the plane duh. So I just tried to set them straight. Someone said if you see a smithsonian crew board the plane, don't get on. They believe they were filming the real reel time events.
@@sharoncassell9358 " if you see a smithsonian crew board the plane, don't get on" is a joke. nobody actually thinks theyre really on the plane

I remember watching this
Don’t those fed-ex pilots watch horror movies? When you have the chance you make sure the bad guy goes down and stays down.
The fedx plane carried only cargo & 3 crew. Luckily they all lived but they had to wrestle with the criminal co worker.

The acting is dope
I bet the people who shot the missile don’t care that they almost brought down a civilian plane.
They rarely do.
latest casualty was MH17 and the ukraine plane shot by the iranians.. it still happening
Solid EVIL!
Just like how the US government didn’t care when they shot down an Iranian airline that killed 200+ people
Usually I watch at Wonder channel!

Unbelievable the pilot allowed his kids that kind of control. Just Unbelievable.
Which one?
@@amymiller4840 Aeroflot 593
you can easily take your child to a flight simulator which has a similar feeling to flying in a cockpit instead of literally letting your child fly the plane and put all the innocent lives aboard at risk
Is ot really though? Ur dad never let u sit on his lap and drive the car? If that's the case then that's a major tragedy
@@mikeberry5016 if your dad lets you drive a car while it's in motion and there are passengers in the back then that's a idiotic dad

I wonder if any pilots ever retire or quit after a survivable accident.
I feel like the airline would have to pay them after an accident. Or at least I would hope they get paid enough that they never have to work .
@@boost1606 yes they are entitled to employee disability benefits through their employers when they survive and no longer able to fly the same as anyone hurt on the job.
Some do..
@@boost1606 nope thats not how insurance works!!! have you never been in an accident before or is this insurance thing a new concept to you
They should have a security guard on FedEx 705 when the hijacking happened
Cool
Now you have a sky tour in hawaii
The DHL plane was probably in a heated battle zone, most probably was mistaken for a military craft but in reality was a civilian, as well as the U.S Air force and Military were concerned about the aircraft. I am glad that the pilots and the military did good in coordinating, because if they did not the situation would have been a lot worse. Also the fact that it is real I respect all the people that helped the airbus and the pilots who did a good job at landing the plane.
it's insane what lengths people will go to to defend the us militarys' actions.
@@cessnacitation-x,
@@BohemianRails what
from what i know that DHL was shot on purpose to send a message to the US or something
Oh yea Like the strong effort the Russians used when a civilian Korean airliner mistakenly flew into Russian airspace and the interceptor was close enough behind to clearly identify it as such. MA…….SPLASH!
How is the plane flying this slow😂 9:18
I don’t fly much but seems awfully slow
10/10
When they see there is a problem or the fact the plane is banking why on earth did they let the child still sit there. Why didn’t the pilot say get up and let me sit down
The inertia pulled them down in the seats. He couldnt get up.2 Gs.
And I’m watching this on March 22nd. The day the kid brought down Aeroflot airplane.
29:29 this is my first time that a Philippines airline crash like seriously
It's nice that the pilots can invite someone into the cockpit for show & tell. However, it shouldn't be in the middle of the night. The crew should never give up their seat. 1 person at a time. Just my opinion.
Otherwise, 👍👍 across the board.

one would have thought that when the pilot saw the plane turning after his kid alerted him to it, he would have told him to get up and correct the turn by turning the plane the other direction or reengage the autopilot . now with the said, how is it that they didnt feel the plane banking is beyond me because for the plane to go left or right the wings have to tilt and you can feel it ... poor guy killed everyone
Its funny that the G force stopped the pilots from saving the plane but had no effect on the flight attendants who were serving refreshments

It's Amazing How The Security didn't notice the mask, and other stuff. I mean how could they even come on there with all of that equipment.
Who knows, maybe TSA / Security didn't exist or was bad at detecting that stuff back then
