    • @LearnHow2
      @LearnHow2  5 лет назад

      Hello! I watered the Salvias as soon as they were planted in the ground. Also twice a week if there had been no rain. I didnt use fertilisers or food and my soil is pretty poor so they are quite hardy. However some fertiliser may give you improved growth/ flowering.

    Hi there! (Wish I knew your first name to be able to address you more kindly.) I've just received my salvia seeds, and of course I came right to your channel to see what you might have in the way of videos. This is perfect, but I do have one question. I've noticed in a few other videos that Salvia need light to germinate. This point is typically made with quite a bit of importance, followed by "Don't cover the seeds with the medium, but be sure they are making good contact with the surface." I noticed that you covered yours with your compost, but I also see that they germinated quite well, so I just wondered if you had any thoughts on this discrepancy. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I'll await your reply before getting started.

    • @LearnHow2
      @LearnHow2  3 года назад +1

      The instructions on my seed packet said to lightly cover them with compost. Mine grew perfectly but I have seen instructions that say dont cover them....maybe it changes with the variety. Maybe to be on the safe side plant 2 lots - one covered and the other not. Keep safe.

    • @LearnHow2

      Hi Juanna. Keep them in a warm bright place but I would not advise direct sunlight as the soil could over heat or dry out.

    • @lolodee3528

      Many seeds need warmth and moisture and darkness-UNTIL the leaves emerge, then remove warmth and blast the sun. But look them up to be certain.

      also to accurately answering your question, salvia splendens does not contain salvinorin-a/b, the hallucinogenic compound in salvia divinorum you mentioned. But ive seen papers that salvia splendens contains a compound with a similar structure to salvinorin-a/b called splenedin. The papers i saw said its potentially mild psychoactive, but more studies are needed. As its a diterpene like salvinorin, smoking could be a less efficient type of consuming, you probably should eat the leaves and keep them in your mouth. But im not recommending consuming any "psychoactive plants"
      tldr: yes, you could probably smoke it with zero to mild effects.
