Great reviews :) As someone with a disability, I was really impressed with the whole sequence last week. Somewhat like KB, I also can't walk long distances without getting dizzy, or just in general. So, I use an electric scooter to get around and some medicine and a Gastrolyte-like drink to keep myself not dizzy, (I used them like four or five times a day regardless of the scooter, but it's the connection that counts here :)), so I somewhat identified with KB. If I was watching this when I was a kid, it'd probably be REALLY good to see that on Star Wars :) While I get what you mean about Fern being sorry should be higher than KB being sorry about not telling Fern that she couldn't do everything that Fern could do, I can see it maybe helping kids realise that they should let their friends know if there are some things they can't do and that they have nothing to be ashamed of. Just a thought :) As for this episode, I thought it was really good. Not much to add here. I DID just have a thought though; what if next week the "supervisor" comes down to try to keep the treasure for themselves, but Jod fights them for it and the kids and the parents decide to just let them fight over it all and take the opportunity to escape? I can see that happening. Great bookshelf! Really impressive :) Keep up the great reviews and good luck with unpacking everything :)
KB definitely needed to apologize to Fern... Having a disability doesn't give you a pass on being mean/crappy to your friends when they don't understand what your limits are. So I thought it was good that she apologized for that in her own way, because channeling your anxieties into anger/aggression without an explanation could easily end a friendship.
There's such an unusual tone to this series that I love. It's standard kid stuff, like, 90% of the time, and then it just suddenly just the most cold-blooded murder. And yet they had the restraint not to have Jod crush SM-33's mouse friend. I really expected that when they zoomed in on Jod's feet walking through the debris of SM-33.
I saw the same mouse thing, Jod also was basically pleading with Fern to yield rather than killing her. I wonder if there's some Jedi-ish respect for life still squirming around in that head of his. Then again, he did order 33 to melt pirates in acid. Maybe it's just killing people himself that feels wrong to him? And yes droids are people but I doubt he considers them so.
This episode did a good job of setting up the finale, everyone is in the same place back on At Attin in the vault. We now know that At Attin was the old mint, and the barrier is explained. Captain Rennod captured a republic ship and disguised it as the Onyx Cinder, using its tech to locate and pass the barrier to At Attin. This is why no one was allowed to press the button that shed the disguise. Remaining mystery is how and when the planet fell of the radar, and Jod's backstory. I hope we get a satisfying conclusion that ties up the story.
I think the reveal will be that the Supervisor WAS Tek Rennod at one point but he died a long time ago and now the system is just continuing on its own. Perhaps Jod will realise whatever Rennod realized and will be incentivized to continue the system. I think there is still a chance that Jod could turn on the pirates if their plans about At Attin clashed with his plan, but that still wouldn't mean he'd turn "good". Like maybe the pirates would only want to plunder and destroy At Attin while Jod would want to usurp the system to work in his favor and finance greater ambitions? This show is really solid. It's funny how some of the shows that "nobody wanted" turned out to be the best. Rogue One, Andor, Bad Batch, Skeleton Crew. People were like "what is this? Who is this for? Who cares?" Meanwhile highly anticipated projects like Kenobi and the Acolyte just flopped like a limp fish.
I really loved the re-taking of the ship, and Fern being established as Captain again (I actually cheered). As hard as it is to watch Jad truly totally evil/greedy, it makes sense. It makes you wonder if some people are beyond redemption, and deserve their fates. My guess, The supervisor is a droid programmed by Captain Rennod (whose Skeleton remains) - which makes our heroes the Skeleton Crew.
Star Wars should make all their shows like this. It seems like since it’s for kids, they took the extra time to make sure it’s easily understood, not convoluted and well paced so they don’t lose their audience’s attention. Adults need this too not just kids! I don’t know what formula the other shows have been using but shows like Boba Fett was so boring and the pacing was terrible. Treat us like the sci fi fan kids we all really are inside, I don’t mind. I’ve enjoyed this show so much more than most Star Wars shows.
Having an airlock near the bridge is no stupider than every Federation starship having the bridge protruding out of the top of the ship, where any easy/lucky shot could take the whole command structure out Jesse I believe you are located in the greater Los Angeles metroplex so please be careful with all those fires❤❤❤❤ya catch you next time
I’m still thinking that Jod is Palpatine’s son and Rey’s father. Also that At Attin is where the ex-imperials are hiding and where the First Order started.
@@lcflngn Well, I can’t take full credit. Bob Chipman predicted the whole “At Attin is the secret bad guy planet” thing before I did. The whole “Jod is a Palpatine” thing is all me, far as I know.
@bazbloodwolf I don't know why that line is so memorable. As a kid, maybe it's because it changed the way I think of vacuums... and vacuum cleaners? As an adult, maybe because it changed the way I think of science fiction writing?

I really thought Jod was going to have a redemption ark, but this bad guy we keep hoping will be good know matter how often they betray is a great lesson in itself.
The new set looks nice. I noticed a few titles from my own bookshelves. I liked this episode, though I too thought it would end with a reveal of the Supervisor. Honestly I expect the finale episode to end with X-wings and New Republic warships dropping out of hyperspace to take on the pirate frigate. Maybe with the owl character we saw several episodes ago leading the way. We';ll see.

I came here for the Skeleton Crew review and you throw in a cheeky Boxed G'kar cameo😍 If you look at the credits it says The Supervisor is Steven Fry (remember the voice of the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy in the film version? That's immediately where my brain went when I heard his voice😂).

I'm not sure airlocks are particularly more dangerous than any other part of a ship. Any hole in a spaceship would be deadly. I don't see how the original captain of the Onyx Cinder or his first mate could still be alive after all this time. The supervisor has to be someone else, doesn't it?

So... are we still doing Jod Theories? Because to be honest, I never had any, but clearly he had some teachings straight from the Jedi and he doesn't... he's not a conventional Darksider, either, not anywhere close to the Sith. I think the idea that he's a failed might be accurate, because to be honest... he seems not incredibly strong in the Force. Maybe keeping his abilities hidden for so long dulled him with age, I dunno. I will say, I have a very real question of why he didn't just straight-up kill Fern. He could've done it, easy. Why did he threaten her and then get 33 to deal with the kids, considering I'm pretty sure 33's instructions were to treat them as mutineers, i.e. kill them? Why'd he decide to take them hostage, why'd he threaten their parents, why's he only ever threatened them but not harmed them? It seems it's because he can't. Not because he cares for the kids ‒ we can't tell if he does or doesn't, I think we're all just hoping for it maybe ‒ but because of what he sees in them. Like, regardless of where he was during the Empire, he must have been a child and that would be terrifying for any child. And these kids are sheltered the way he never was, or maybe he was actually sheltered in the Jedi temples for a while and that was taken away from him. If the Supervisor is important, I think he’s a droid. When the droids say they are taking him to the supervisor, Jod says that it’s better than talking to droids, which felt like the set up for a joke. And it would fit this bright, friendly dystopia. Shelves are great but the books organized by descending height distracts me.

Something I noticed in the credits: The Supervisor is voiced by Stephen Fry.

@@jessiegenderafterdark5287 After I watched it, my first* thought was "Is Jessie Gender going to absolutely love this?!?!" But "solid" is good enough!
*possibly second...or third...but it was up there!
