Do you own any of the pens in Connie's fountain pen collection? Are any on your wish list? Let us know in the comments! Thanks for all the likes in Connie's pen case video
I’ve got a Pelikan M205, a Kaweco Sport, two Twsbi Ecos, and the Iris version of the 580. I so wish I’d been into pens at the time that Petrol color Safari was released; every time I see one I wish Lamy would bring it back even if only a year.
Connie apparently loves teal as much as I do! I have the Kaweco iridescent pearl, the Safari and the Al-Star in the same colors, the Sailor PGS blue-green nebula (also a broad-twins!), and the Prussian Blue TWSBI. I don’t have the mint Diamond AL but I do have the Diamond Mini in that color. And I agree about preferring flat tops, they’re definitely my favorite overall shape. I didn’t know about the DeAtramentis zodiac inks, will have to look those up!
This is me starting a campaign for JetPens to gift Connie a pen roll case because she’s amazing! (Everyone is but Connie needs a beautiful pen roll for her fountain pens)
I love seeing the JetPens staff geek out about their collections, especially the fountain pens. I like seeing how everyone handles their pens, what they personally like, if they post, if they match pens and inks, etc. You have a lovely collection, Connie!
Nice to see a left-handed fountain pen user! I'm ambidextrous and I enjoy using mine left-handed. The only one I have that's also in Connie's collection is the Lamy Safari, though, both in turquoise and dark purple.
Connie, those are some REALLY pretty inks you have there! They are all mild and colorful. Very nice! Oh, the pens are cool, too. I see you pick up limited editions. Nice going!
As a fountain pen newb, I KNEW better than to watch this video. Do I need any other reasons to have a perpetually-open JetPens tab?! What a treat to see Connie demonstrating broad nibs and all those beautiful inks. 🤩
I really enjoyed this video. It was gratifying to see the different nibs and the barrels and see how they laid down print and the different color inks beautiful. I enjoyed the humor !!!!😂
Thank you, Connie for your wonderful writing samples. It is lovely to see such beautiful penmanship. I'm not judging the writing styles of other people who do fountain videos, but it is very difficult to tell if a pen's performance is a result of the writer's quirky penmanship or if the nib really writes that way. Yes, I'm a slightly snobby calligrapher, but nib performance is everything to me.
I love the safari - I actually took the grip section of the vista and put it on the charcoal safari and it looks amazing. I love how easy it is to swap parts!
Connie and I are definitely pen twinsies. Bring me ALL the stubs and double-broads, and bring them in flat-tops, and fill them with shading inks! And I'm with you on TWSBI making a double-broad. We need to make this happen.
Love the broads, double broads and stubs. Wonderful selection of both fountain pens and inks. That Pelikan m400 with fuyu syogun looks stunning! TWSBI with a double broad would be a dream - a TWSBI Mini AL with BB, instant buy from me
You just convinced me to buy a stub nib. I only have one broad in my line up thus far. Update - Stub nib TWSBI just ordered along with some waterproof ink and watercolors!
Connie!!! What type of leftie are you? Underwriter, overwriter, sidewriter? I noticed you had a clear pencil board underneath where you were writing to help prevent ink smudging from your hand to the paper, but I didn't see anything to protect the ink you're laying down! Also, do you have any fast drying ink recommendations for side-writers? Everything smears for me, no matter the ink or the size of the nib.
Thanks for sharing! Connie, I love how focused your fountain pen collection is. Gives me incentive to work on downsizing mine. Maybe. Lolz. Your handwriting works so well with your preferred nib sizes. For me, small handwriting, it's the opposite and my pens are mainly EFs and Fs. When I write with anything larger than a medium nib I feel like I'm shouting. 😆 That said, I should experiment more with the handful of larger nibs I do have, maybe for headings or decorative flourishes. Thanks again!
A nice combination of classics and hard-to-find limited editions. I also have the Lamy Safari in Petrol, but I'd much prefer to have the Dutch Petrol Kaweco AL Sport. Kicking myself that I missed that one Jet Pens needs to hook Connie up with a good pen roll!
I want a twisbi so bad. But is so expensive in my currency 🥲 I do have a Kaweco AL Sport (black). Best purchase ever. But on that one I got a fine nib. I also have a Platinum Prefounte M. And a Pilot Kakuno M. That’s it. I am happy with my collection, I don’t use fountain pens often, so I don’t need any more. Ink however… I need to constantly stop myself from buying more. 😅
Out of curiosity, other than just liking the broader nibs, is there a reason you prefer broad to the fine or extra fine nibs? I’m starting to branch out on my nib sizes and just bought my first broad nib TWSBI ECO a week or two ago but it’s hard to find a place to use it
Could be because broad nibs lay down more ink on the page so they showcase the ink's properties more, so for sheening and shading inks for example you'd be able to see those properties better writing with a broad nib
perhaps writing style, finer nibs are better for cursive. they’re also better for general use paper (common notebooks), as they don’t lay down that much ink. plus, finer nibs feel more “scratchy”, and broader feel softer, but take longer to dry
Speaking personally, love how smooth broader nibs feel and they make my handwriting significantly better. Shading properties of inks also come out way better and make the writing process enjoyable overall. I use broad nibs in everything, even in a pocket A6 Leuchtturm and with my handwriting I can use it without issues. I do have to write larger if I switch to cursive but other than that, no issues. I had many Fine and EF nibs and other than drawing, I just don't like using them. I'd check how other people write with broads and maybe see if you could find a 'font' or writing style that fits that nib more. Mountain of Ink has some interesting writing samples on her blog that helped me
@@anam00090 thank you! I’ll check them out! I’ve gotten so used to writing small that I haven’t gotten the hang of writing bigger with the broad tip yet.
I just bought and used my very first Broad nib fountain pen after recently using and falling in love with Italic nibs and I can see why you (Connie) love the Broad nibs. I always thought I would only be an EF nib girl, but now my love is confused because I love all three 😵💫🥴
I really love your fountain pen nib preference. I’m the same!! Sadly I’ve just gotten into fountain pens a couple years back and didn’t know about Jet Pens back then (to teach me what I know now)
Fuyu Syogun is so great, and I have a Kaweco Sport broad coming in tomorrow! This was a great vid for me cause I got to compare all the broad nibs, making me feel even better about my choice cause the Kaweco was pretty chunky 👌
Connie, you've got a great collection and a great choice in shirts, may you be blessed with not getting scurvy and having to go on an expedition for oranges.
I have a similar philosophy as you when it comes to my fountain pen collection. I typically have 2 pens per brand, and I don’t buy multiple colors of the same pen. They have to be different model. May I ask why you only have 1 Pilot pen? Pilot is my favorite brand and I absolutely love the Pilot E95S.
Recently rebought a LAMY 2000 from JetPens. It's perfect due to my super low grip on pens and just the design of it. It's the only pen for me. 😍 I am, however, eyeballing those inks used here. 😅
Very nice collection of pens! The custom TWSBI nib sure looks interesting and more information would be fun. Does anyone at JetPens own or use a Naginata Togi architect/zoom nib in a Sailor pen - if so, how do they like it? I love mine!!
Your handwriting is very neat, I like it. Very wide range of fountain pens that you have. Thanks for sharing. By the way, I see that you like to use wider nibs B, BB, etc. They use more ink and I think this is a great way to use up all the ink bottles that I have already. Certainly I will need more quality fountain pen friendly paper so they won’t soak through.
