Poor land management has stopped people from being able to use the land for what it should be used for. Modern road systems dissect the land and separate valuable parts that could be used for local markets. It's either globalism or localism and globalism is the most immensely wasteful system the world has ever seen. At the local level all the waste and infrastructure is maintained in sight and can be reduced through management at that level which will reduce it 1000 fold across all the local communities. Globalism is killing the earth.
Imagine learning to be self sufficient, not just for building your own home but also farming your yard, growing vegetables and small livestock, just imagine how FREE we would all be, free from corporate domination and control......
Speaking as a builder, the amount of work you have done to get this finished is incredible well done and congratulations on a very unique and beautiful looking home .
It's a lovely home. There's a wonderful charm and friendliness to structures with curves and domes. They just 'feel' natural and 'normal'. If Seb and Isa run out of things to do, they could do some sampling on their land for gold and other precious metals. You never know!
john doe they are already teaching our kids to be politically correct and how and for whom they should vote. If a boy acts as a boy they are punished and schools are requiring the parents to have them medicated.
I agree! You learn this when you are young and build it when you are young, in shape and healthy, then enjoy it for the rest of your life and/or let the next generation enjoy it too! Doing this when you are older would be very challenging.
The external color of the ecodome is the original membrane color, it's not been painted yet, but we are opened for color suggestion. Thanks a lot Danielle and Mathieu for this great work .
Thanks for sharing your story with us! It was so great meeting both of you and getting to spend a bit of time together. We wish you the best of luck and hope you have an amazing summer :) :)
This has to be one of the most interesting builds I've come across, ever. It's so cool you don't use any man-made resources to build this house & the look is just fairyland cute. I absolute "love" this house & would enjoy learning more about it. Thanks for posting.
I am looking to make mold for semi circling shape of tiny house, to build in panels with aircrete plus layer of liquid insulation which is sturdy I think, do I need to put steel in isde insulation or aircrete layer to make it strong,
Beautiful! Now, with the concrete flooring, that would still not stop the moisture accumulation. What is needed is a drain field and lower than the house drains away to that field. And even though the place is built, the drainage can still be dug. Digging about 4-5 ft down all around the house, and fill the lower 2-3 ft with large aggregate. Then 1-2 ft of pea gravel and then a very humus soil so there can be still good drainage and yet not have to have the gravel all the way to the surface. With the drain field lower than the house, it will automatically draw the water away from the house and to the field. The filed could also have a pond area in the center for a pond, also can use it as an earthen battery to assist in the power supply, especially for those days of little sunlight for the photovoltaic panels.
Really, this technique is very unique! There is no wastage of time for curing!! Using sandbags initially and finish with Cement mortar for plastering is a wonderful idea!!! -- M.B. Jayaram, Chennai, INDIA
Thank you for the interesting building info, I'm a young Architect from Nigeria, looking to major my career in Earth Architecture. I love what you guys do!
Nigeria would be perfect place for an adobe home because of it's desert like climate ... the rocket stove may not be needed but a form of it for cooking that not only allows cooking indoors on miserable days but allows for cooking outdoors as well would be an excellent addition
People definitely need a way to have more affordable homes. This is an interesting concept. Like so many, it will probably be difficult to find a state/county that will allow you to build something like this. Zoning laws need to be updated to fit the needs of the times and the people.
totally agree!!!! We need pieces of land outside of major cities that are totally open to people to plant food on and pop up little eco-domes like this to live on... so many homesless people could be doing THIS instead of rotting in the concrete jungles...
This dwelling is protected from earthquake, fire, hurricane, tornado, pretty much bulletproof (literally *that* too!). It’s beautiful too, in that there are no harsh lines or corners. From the inside, this makes air flow better- more efficient heating and cooling. I suspect the initial problem with humidity had to do with all the moist sand in the bags.
My little Homestead follows the adventures of Earth bag builder family in the American SW. Very cool structures and heartwarming as they evolve towards a greener self sustaining lifestyle. Their buildings are completed for less than 3000$ often
Steffe Norberg All basic and beyond basic (like building houses) should be taught. No one ever thinks anyone will ever pull the plug. Fact is, it's inevitable. Our kids won't have a clue how to survive.
Did I see an ad in the beginning? I'm so accustomed to them I hardly notice. Glad you're finally making some money from your excellent videos. This was very interesting. Love your camera technique.
I think it's beautiful personally. And one things for sure, only time you could miss something that color would probably be during the winter. But even so, it's still beautiful!!!
Salut! One of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time. I grew up south of hemmingford, love Quebec. This home is so beautiful on many levels! Very much appreciate the filming.
Absolutely amazing house! Me and my husband want to build one too. I would love to know what plaster you have used inside to finish the internal walls and also bathroom without having tiles (which my husband and I hate to be fair). Thank you for sharing your story with the rest of us!
Nous sommes de Québec. Nous vous applaudissions! Amazing that you were able to get permission in the first place. Quebec has such strict building codes. Crazy cool!
P. D my english is very bad im a speak spanish que lindas personas son ustedes los felicito de corazon micha suerte en la vida lo mejor para ustedes que sean felices
GOD certainly CREATED PERSONS or PEOPLE that SPECIALIZES in this KIND of STRUCTURE which is TOTALLY ADAPTABLE to NATURE'S CONDITIONS. As it is mentioned in all other featured Dome Houses such as this, they are built to withstand great pressures of Earthquakes, which to me is the most important for all humans. To be able to survive in a certain catastrophe. Really amazing work of art, very engenuity ! I just hope tho' that in the future, this is the most built construction of houses we have(",)(,")
C'té génial 😉. Pis qu'on aime les couples qui terminent la phrase de l'un ou l'autre 😁. J'espère que tout y roule comme vous le voul et vous souhaite bon woyage 😘.
Adobe ("mud-bricks") seem to be quite a good building material, with excellent insulation properties. You do have to keep water out, though. If you attach something heavy, such as an 80 litre electric water boiler, to an adobe wall, you need rods going through the wall to support it. Where I live, many rural homes are partly or wholly walled with mud bricks. They seem to prefer the clay sub-soil for it. I think that one of the reasons roofs tend to stick out further than with most British buildings is to protect the walls.
Agreed. We all should learn how to build our own home. I like the idea of teaching that skill at schools. 👍🏻

Yes, I was thinking 4 months wasn't that long, then they added the 6 days a week, 12-15 hours a day, and I was a bit more impressed. :)

Gotta keep them dumbed down. Wouldn't want too many thinking and doing for themselves. That would be too much like tyranny.
I agree! You learn this when you are young and build it when you are young, in shape and healthy, then enjoy it for the rest of your life and/or let the next generation enjoy it too! Doing this when you are older would be very challenging.
john doe, *oh yeah, schools, that are destroing kids' mental health. Wake up!*
Great idea 💡 but doubt that our government I mean ilumina...... would want that reason why they was us to be dependent on them and there company.
My heart goes out to them for so much hard work. Filling these bags with soil using a tin was very labour intensive! Well done!!!

What color did you choose? I'm excited to see the result!😍
These would look cool in gray, brown peak to ground striped pattern. Basically it would end up looking like a thatched hut. Very natural looking.
Sébastien Côté Paint It to look like the forest it's in .
Live moss would be a neat way to cover the home and make it blend in.
I FULLY agree that THESE types of skills should be TAUGHT. Just like Home-Ech & Shop used to be. I LUV what U R doing.

I think there was a lot of man made elements, such as plumbing, electrical, the slab, etc, but overall I agree, it’s a cool build.
I seriously admire these people. Amazing.
I really like this. They were lucky to get planning permission and some help to make it: so much hard work. I wish them well.
As a training civil engineer..... WHOA! I really like this.

These houses are beautiful, they look amazing on land! I wish it was legal to build them in Scotland!
This is probably the most inspiring video on this subject to date for me! Love it! So glad for the links as well! Thank you!
There's a girl who did this in Arizona, and it gets pretty damn hot down there.

Ideas like this come from someone who thinks outside the box of mcmansion architecture. The idea just makes low maintenance sense. Great video!
Been following you a long time and you never disappoint👍 I agree with the builder, this type of skill should be taught in school.
Thanks so much for following us and for your positive comment :) :)

Amazing !!! I wish that this was taught in our schools,...we should be building our own homes using natural materials !!!
THIS IS AS BRILLIANT AS IT IS WONDERFULLY BEAUTIFUL - THE FUTURE IS THE MOST BASIC ! BRAVO !

I read that a house like this has been permitted in San Bernardino in California
Fahjah Fajitas You need zoning laws because you're a little sister.
These earthbag designs are one of the most structurally stable buildings when it comes to seismic stress.
This is one of my favorite videos you all have done! Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Jane!! I'm happy you enjoyed checking out this SuperAdobe home. It's definitely one of our favorites so far too :)

Love everything that they are doing, would indeed relish living like this with others. What a great achievement ;D
Interesting idea! Reminds me of how the Barbapapa family lived. :)

This is a great design for a warm country but with those domes it will be impossible to heat.
Love what you have built, The Honeycomb Haven
That is really fascinating house! I would love to learn more about that building technique!
Arbitrary Exploration
There is a lot of information on this sort of building on the internet.
4 months, 4 people, 6 days a week and you got a house. Amazing.
This is amazing! I am always impressed how you find all these cool houses (and People) you feature on your channel! Great job, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Jenny :) :)

Esto es fantastico quiero aprender ha hacer estas casas son una gran alternativa
Olala... je voudrai le-voir. Que project magnifique! :O :)
Excellent. I love this building!
✨✨✨❤️❤️thanks you for sharing your wonderful house❤️❤️✨✨✨
Fantastic building but I didn't notice any water capture. Here in Australia we are all about capturing and storing as much water as possible.
Because they're not living in Australia.
Quebec has problems with having _too much_ freshwater, not a lack of it.
So nice! This home needs plants!

Very nice people thank you for sharing your video. God Bless you.
We love this kind of building. We have had trouble finding the bags. Can you tell me where you got the bags?
We really enjoyed the video and that adobe home is so cool
Beautiful people enchanting home
I'm researching options for our off-grid homestead, and we happen to live in Québec! Donc, cette vidéo était un heureux hasard...
@6:54 "and we should be learning this at school", True Dat!!
Definitely different kind of home I found it very interesting
I want this house SOOOO bad.
Wow. GOD SMACKED! Well done.
