Find a suitable location. Unbuckle belt and lower trousers. Unfold and tear off 3 squares. Wipe from front to back. Dispose of paper in double ziploc bags. Pull up trousers and secure the belt. And that's how the US Forest Service takes a number 2 in the wilderness.

Really? So I had this wrong from the beginning. You see, I always wiped from back to front. I suppose it felt (more) right that way. And another thing, my magic number has always been FOUR. I "fold and tear off" 4 squares, which also happens to feel (more) right as well. But nonetheless, thanks for the 'tip' brother. It is always paramount to get that tip in.....

I'm so happy I found this channel, I started being more prepared. So because of Cody I put a fire extinguisher in my van (amongst other things). Yesterday I was driving home from work and a feild verge was on fire, burning along the verge in one direction, lots of people stopped to look and did nothing and had nothing to help. My little fire extinguisher bought enough time stopping the main fire for the fire brigade to arrive and put it out. By the way there were hundreds of acres of wheat in that feild (and the next one in drought conditions with high winds). I cannot describe how thankful I was to have the right equipment on hand! So greatfull to Cody, better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it!

I usually drive the heads on by dropping the handle on a stump once or twice (the end opposite the ax head… and having the head pointing straight up). Don’t usually hit it with another tool because I like my handles to stay nice and smooth… also don’t have to worry about over driving it: the weight of the head is enough to seat itself snugly.
Usually do this on every metal tool with a wooden handle: ax, hatchet, pick, mattock, or hammer.

I like watching these.... I don't even know why. I don't do anything rugged. I sit at a desk all day.

Note that driving the HANDLE is also the correct way to put a handle on a hand file. Seems counter-intuitive, but it works and does not damage the file.

I do like using a conical wedge for handles. Pain to remove if needed but they don't let loose.

After all that is done dip it in Old school antifreeze. It'll soak up and solidify when it dries, repeat until the top won't wick anymore up. Works on hammers etc.

Interesting. I would think you would secure the head in a vise, or bridge it across two boards, and pound the handle down into the head to really make it set into the handle. I did this a few years ago and used two standard wedges with the wood fit slightly below the head, then filled the top of the handle with epoxy. I would have bought that better round wedge if the store had it at the time.

I see no reason why that would be an inferior method. I don't think this guy is actually very smart. I think he was shown a method for doing each thing and thinks that's the only way. He is also kind of self important in the way he presents things.
