Go to Spa-Francorchamps and don't lift through Formula 1's most intimidating corner? That's the challenge for DRIVETRIBE's Editor-at-Large, Jethro Bovingdon. And we haven't given him something slow either, rather a Radical SR3 RSX race car…

"If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough" Mario Andretti....
Thats Raidillon actually.
Ahhhh WTF1
It's a one year old vid ;-;
@@JollyRogers102
It was still radillon a year ago.
@@MrtinVarela I'm just wondering why you would comment that on a year old vid xD
@@JollyRogers102
Yes, it's an old video... so what?
Well you were flat through Eau Rouge, that bit where you lifted?...6:53
That's Raidillion actually...
i was looking for this comment hahaha
I will find a way!
I remember seeing Schumacher go through there flat with only one hand on the wheel and adjusting brake bias with the other while talking to the pit about the weather on the other side of the track. Other world skill.
Lol yeah I remember that. He wasnt as good as Verstappen but what a legend still!
Rob Lal He wasnt as good as Verstappen? What do you mean?
Rob Lal Are you high bro? lmao
@@moneyequalshappiness65 Schumacher didn't crash for the first six races of the season.
I remember watching the Training Sessions of 1995. And they sayed, that Schumacher was the only Driver in the Grid, who dont lift a Eau Rouge. All other Guys. Even the 2 Williams Drivers lift a little bit off, at Eau Rouge.
Schumacher was basicly the first Guy in F1 (or even overall) who took Eau Rouge flat out.
Seriously, this channel needs to pick up soon. The contents are so amazing... and no clickbait.
Puff Of Smoke ... Enjoy it whilst it's still under the radar my brother!
Hopefully they don't turn out like DRIVE guys.
Does Clarkson Hammond and May have anything to do with this channel?
How is this guy a 'wannabe'? He's an automotive journalist doing what the rest of us wanna do. Who are you to say if he's a wannabe or not? ...twat.
Danny is an xbox racer.
"Claimed lives and ended dreams" hits hard. RIP Anthoine
"The fear factor is gone"-hell no
They should try it on a motorcyle, bet they'll be crying for their moms..
Spa-Francorchamps is by far my favourite track. It's got everything; long straights, fast curves, slow corners, a busstop and of course... Eau Rouge! With the ever changing weather conditions an the beautiful scenery, what more could a racing enthusiast want(?)!
Great short vid. Thanks Jethro Bovingdon and the production team.
Really enjoying this channel. Keep up the good work.
RIP Anthonie Hubert, enjoy the race in heaven with senna, fangio, Bianchi, Villeneuve, etc
Bellof
Lauda... if not killed in racing... is still a legend...
instaBlaster
If this channel keeps pumping out videos like these with the big ex-evo names it's going to fly! All the best
...it will. If they find out where the revenue is going to come from. Ads alone won't pay for this
Dufflecoat No matter how slick the videos are, the majority of people won't pay. I wouldn't pay a cent for essentially watching people have the time of their lives for a job I'd PAY to have!
Lol and look what’s happened since.
2017: "The fear factor is gone"
2019: Hubert dies at the top of Radillon
Very true
😭😭
Wait he died only two years ago?!
Please continue to keep this channel as pure as it is. No silly adverts or clickbaits. Consistent an long videos full of information. Awesome
2:56 Jethro Bovington, "If I get a gap in the traffic I need to take it"
“If you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driver” -Ayrton Senna
"If you take away Eau Rouge, you take away the reason why I do this" - Ayrton Senna
Jethro isn't a racing driver - He's a journo.
(a) humor.
(b) if you own a race suit, you are a racing driver.
Exige000
Pretty sure he is a qualified racing driver.
If you go for a gap that doesn't exist, you are Pastor Maldonado.
you can say all the shit you want about Pastor Maldonado, but he is a proper and *fast* and brave racing driver
Quality content, host is really growing on me fast, kind of reminds me of Chris Harris long lost brother
Actually they used to do reviews together, they're close friends, harry catchpole aswell if i'm correct :)
Harris is a prick now. Sorry, i used to like him before he became very rich nows he's just an arsehole.
Jethro is the OG
Oh how I wistfully miss Chris...
chris has been rich for a very long time. nothing new there

That corner is so iconic.
and wrongly named in the title!
*_That's Raidillon actually_*
That took some guts, I can only imagine. If you haven't grown up starting racing with carts, and kept going until adulthood, I can't image it will be easy to adjust to the speeds needed to compete at the highest levels, simply out of fear.
Drivetribe is the real sucessor of Chris Harris on Cars.. Henry & Jethro are magnificent 👌
It's not just that though is it. It's the camera work, editing, and audio too. It's a nice style.
They are actually the successors of EVO (that was bloody brilliant, best automotive magazine and car channel to date), the talent that EVO depleted, gave origin to DriveTribe (from The Grand Tour), Chris Harris on Cars and Harry Metcalfe channel.
This channel is gonna make Motor Trend and Evo look like amateurs
and /DRIVE is completely out of the picture...
When Jethro and Henry were with Evo it wasn't an amateur, of course Harry as well.
And Sam Riley. Who took the film and edited it.
4 years later, spot on
This did not age well.
'the fear factor is gone,'
*hmmm I wouldn't be so sure about that*
Well done. Quite literally seat of the pants stuff there. The official medal of balls of titanium go to you, Jethro!!
0:31 RIP Anthoine Hubert
By far the nicest circuit around.
Thank you! It's really easy to forget that flat does not mean easy. The camera work was amazing. It really helped give you an idea of just how hard that was. Oh, and thanks for including the time you convinced yourself you had done it. It really creates a depth to the story line. Amazing content guys!
Amazing camera angles, and content of course! Keep it up Jethro.
It's the compression before the climb that unsettle the car and give you the feeling that your life is going to end here and now. The setting up of the suspensions (dumpers?) is paramount...
Well done sir, and this car seems incredible...
Man! This is great content. Thoroughly enjoyed. This channel will soon become legendary.
Awesome Jethro, Really enjoying all the vids of late on drive tribe. Short and sweet and realistic reviews. Keep doing what your're doing.
Another absolutely superior video.....Keep up th great work!
It has some history that corner. It took the life of Stefan Bellof. You're too young, don't know that name? Look up what the supreme all-time outright lap record is at the Norschliffe. I'll help you - it stands at 6:11.23 seconds. Now look up when that was set. Nobody has ever gotten a car around the 'ring faster than that. But Stefan Bellof died at Eau Rouge. He's not the only one, but he was perhaps the quickest driver who ever lived.
Don't forget Monaco 84 while everyone was loosing their minds at Senna catching Prost, Bellof was catching Senna...
gweflj That race was out of this world
gweflj is there any video of stefan?
i just have to add one thing here, while Bellof indeed holds the lap record around the ring, it wasn't the track we know today, the track he drove was the shortest it has ever been due to construction work on other parts. Its still an amazing time, but really hard to beat if you have a few kilometers more to drive.
Kneedragon1962 that record broken last month
What a well written and videoed piece. Well bloody Done!!
This video gives me goosebumps, amazing channel. Thank you.
This channel is AMAZING! Please keep up the good work.
Great video mate. Well done .. stoked for you :)
whoa, keep this channel well fed and alive. what great content! congrats guys!
Chris Harris, Jethro Bovington, and Henry Catchpole should've been the new TG team.
Graham Bansal add Harry Metcalfe to that lineup and you've got a winner
Amazing storytelling and cinematography. Thanks for creating such great content, guys!
A sad period of time for that particular corner!
They've flattened it out over the years so much that it's a shadow of what it was.
They should leave it as it is now
Great video that addresses the fear that leads to the 'safety lift' before a very fast corner, in my experience approaching the Kink at the end of Conrod Straight at Bathurst brings up similar emotions.
Subscribed. Having watched the Magnus Walker Porsche episode and now this, I need to not miss what you guys are up to. Lovely.
I remember when DriveTribe only had 15k subs! It's grown so well with the epic content being made!
This is a really well done segment. I could see this on The Grand Tour as one of their stories.
Great video! I feel anxious just by watching this video.
Just when I try to start my own channel and be a presenter myself EVO goes and completely takes over the world. To be honest, I am thrilled. The EVO editorial ethic and visual aesthetic , for me, DEFINED what it meant to be an enthusiast. Henry, Harry and Jethro are patron saints. May I someday be deserving enough to join the ranks. Cheers gents! GREAT feature.
YES!! Jethro and Henry are drivers that can also write. They have transferred over to video wonderfully. Their enthusiasm shows!! And the video/audio production is Fabulous!!!
great video ! thanks guys
Superb content!
Jethro's like a little kid on Christmas day when he sees himself go flat out.
Fantastic Car. Fantastic Channel. Well done lads 👍🏽
I've done many many laps around that track between 2005-2008, all on a bike and I could never do it...I applaud you, I can only imagine that feeling! That was the only corner that gave me anxiety and would take my breath away each and every lap, if only I could have mastered it while I still lived over there.
This was amazing to watch. Bravo Jethro!
Craziest corner in forza! Love you videos
What a beautiful video! You just got yourself another subscriber! Don´t know if I fully agree on THE most iconic corner. Eau Rouge, Corkscrew, Dunlop for it´s beauty.... Hard to say cause I´ve never driven any of them. But: YOU DID IT!
awesome Channel!! Keep up the good work guys
Now that was a good one.I felt the stress sitting at my desk. Well done.
Annnnnd subscribed :)
Thank you so much for the content!!
I enjoy this damn video so much, come back every few months or so
This is now THE automotive channel.
gweflj was
Awesome ! Driving Spa definitely on my bucket-list :)
Those drone footage are really awesome and amazing, loving the channel keep up the good work folks.....😊😊😊
Truly amazing content!
Remember in 1987 in my Opel Manta 1700 Berlinetta coming down the hill and actually had to change into THIRD going up as it was dragging in FOURTH and felt very clumsy on the rest of the circuit. Just shows how far off even a sporty saloon is but there were THREE of us in the car and that Eau Rouge hill is steep believe me. Even Kemmel Straight is UPhill all the way and the Manta was struggling.
Excellent video!
Here i am fist pumping the air as he finally did it. I haven't been this excited over a car video in a while.
Love your vids! Just subscribed... keep it up!
Brilliant video - epic
Have to say, pleasantly surprised at the quality of that. Well done. And as you say at the end, everyone has to go there. Find a way.
brilliant review and production, well done!
Eu rouge is the downhill kink, the upwards right is raidillon. Common misconception.
Bahamuttiamat You'd think a guy who's driven the corner would know its name. Did he never look at an official map of Spa-Francorchamps?
Quintinohthree
To be honest, most people including drivers and commentators make this mistake.
Bahamuttiamat No, its only Raidillon. Eau Rouge is a small river that flows underneath the track.
Yes, the name of the corner comes from the river beneath it.
armorgeddon It has no name. There is only Raidillon. Even their official website shows it has no name. Eau Rouge is a nick name. It's from when people started to say "the corner at Eau Rouge".
This is a nice piece, thank you. Glad to hear props for Pouhon. Only at a circuit like Spa can a double apex left-hander be upstaged by another bit of road.
You had me applauding here! Respect for trying so hard!
Very cool. Bovingdon is a really, really good driver, so to seem him challenged like this is really interesting to see.
Well done!
Man, the filmmaking on this channel! I'm sold!
Great Job!!!
The other corner that I like in SPA is the double left (where Giovinazzi crashed). This is like a never ending left turn.... Great video!
Outstanding! :)
that corner is SOOOO Special ! everytime when i am in the Spa area i have to visit that corner ! and see the drivers dive in there
awesome video!
Great great vid!
Simply faboulous video...
wow amazing vid. subscribed!
Great job so far!
Nice!Really good video.Congrat.
Great video Jethro !
How has this channel only got 50k. Amazing content
i was so happy for you when you did it
Kudos man... kudos
amazing vid !
Nice job. Congrats!
Great video Jetho.
I'm so thankful for this channel!!
I hoped Chris stayed on RUclips but he didn't and now this is the channel to be at!!
At least, we got Chris Harris Drives. ;)
Great video! Really captured your mind games with your right foot! I'll be there for a trackday in March in a Caterham 420R, but probably not taking it flat :D
I'm gonna put this here. I've been a subscriber since before 20k. This channel is gonna get a million subs soon.
Congrats on the achievement! Jethro and CH, my two favorite automotive journalists. Coming from an American.
this is my favorite new car channel fantastic top gear doesn't equal this
I was stationed in Belgium during 1984-86, the front strip with the pits, not during race dates, that piece of track was the highway. I'm not sure of the time when the highway was changed to go outside of the track. During race dates, to get from one area to another in Belgium was a chore before road modifications were performed. I took great pleasure in coming down the highway/race track, front stretch in a 1977 Ford LTD-2 getting the old 302c.i. Wound up to about 87 mph. Just a fun thing I do at my visits there. Imagine a 4,000 lb brick on a F-1 race track. Not too many people have ever been or seen a F1 race, much less have driven on a track! Just my 2 cents about a wonderful track.
Jethro Bovingdon is such a cool guy. would like to see more of car/racing videos from him.
Love the passenger wide angle in the car! feels really real!
