- My friend Isaac decided that it was time to get a larger excavator and do some serious earth works at his home... He always new that there would be some blasting but as he went deeper the rock just kept getting bigger and bigger.

" The residue of my pleasure ", it doesn`t get any better than this. What a pile of rocks.
Oh, yeah, so much rock to move just for a shed site! I knew it was going to be a big one when I drove up the long driveway and noticed that the rock next to the house was bigger than the house!
"good place to put a quarry"
Dry humour is the best
Heck yeah, rock everywhere Gary!
looking good. lots of rock from your friend Issac to now move .... grin!!
Nice work Dave! I've watched a lot of your videos, and it's very impressive how small these blasts appear, yet the rock is fractured into many manageable pieces - the progressive shock wave due to timed firing is much more effective than a massive bang.
And LOL @ 2:36 - "You loaded these holes" 🤣
Correct, the use of "millisecond delay" blasting improves the fragmentation enormously.
That little atlas is nice. I've only seen simular machines that were quite a bit larger. That one is perfect for smaller jobs. Have a great day. (For some reason RUclips has been hiding stuff and removing the likes and red line showing if I've seen things or not lately.)
Hi Jerry, it really was a bargin and despite looking a bit rough, it works like new.
That's a lot of rock! Guess your friend needed some level ground. Nice video!
Beautiful first shot. Beautiful every shot wow what devastation. I love the fairy dust.
Thank you YT
Why does this make me so happy ?
Because it's blokes stuff.
697👍's up Dave thanks again for taking us all along with you for the great show
My pleasure!
I want a "Demolition Dave Drilling and Blasting" T-shirt that says "It's the residue of my pleasure" but in an Aussie accent
I don't have anything like that but one of the big US Blasting contractors (Dykon or McCallum?) has "Make Blasting Great Again" hats.
HI DAVE, THAT'S OKAY, THE WHINE YOUR HEARING IS THE HYDRAULIC MOTOR BEING TURNED BY THE HYDRAULIC OIL FLOW FROM THE PUMPS. ALSO YOU GET A WHINE FROM THE EPICYCLIC GEARS WITHIN THE TRACK MOTOR GEARBOX.
Ahhh the good ole fairy dust!!!
Love your work. Fairy dust!!! LOL.
That did the Trick !!! Great Job !!
Nice work. Do you own that little Atlas Copco Drill? That is perfect for what you do. On their web site they still sell those little drills.
Yeah, got it recently Brian, it is a ROC203 that I rescued, it was was made in Nov 2008, bought and used for one job, sold to another guy that used it for a bit of gold prospecting on his own land and then parked up for nearly 10 years. sorted out most of the bugs with it now, works a treat, it has shank adaptors for T38 and R32 drill rods and it came with enough drill rods to sink a ship!
So the mountain of spoil begs the question; what happens to all of the beautifully cracked rock? Sometimes it's left in situ, but does any ever end up being processed as road base etc?
All of the rock from this job was used on the site, sometimes gets sold to landscapers, sometimes crushed.
Boom boom on a Tuesday, schmoking!
Very well done blasting -- are you using a "high velocity" explosive to crack the granite as opposed to a "low velocity" agent used in mining to "move" the material?
Bit of both WT, the fast stuff at the bottom of the hole and the slower stuff on top.
"Dr Damage does it again" :-)
i know it's quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new tv shows online?
@Ramon Jason Try Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Kelvin Spencer yup, have been using FlixZone for months myself :)
@Kelvin Spencer Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!
@Ramon Jason You are welcome xD
A pleasure as always.
No, no Doc... the pleasure was all mine!
Impressive ! ❤❤🐺🐺🐕🐕🐺🐺❤❤
Nice!!!
Holy smokes Dave - that's half a mountain there! Some pretty deep drilling too.
I sometimes wonder if ANFO is brissant enough when used, as the rock is so hard. The 47 hole det cord one was nice though.
Must have been one of or biggest single jobs. NICE work :)
Anfo is just fine as long as you have something a bit stronger at the bottom of the hole.
Is there a market for the blasted rock or is it just something which needs disposed of?
Yes, there is a market for it, not a huge demand though.
top work Dave
Thanks
I see a drill and plug and feathers on you Channel, looks like you had better post some video.
Still no rock breaking video on your channel.
Sa ai parte numai de bucurii!
Mulțumesc prietene și mulțumesc pentru vizionare (Thank you my friend and thanks for watching)
Why not use blasting mats?
I think I need to make a copy and paste file for this question.
I have Kobelco SK35SR and I want that same drill rig. Where can I get and what is the price?
It is one of a kind built especially for me by a friend.
@@demolitiondavedrillandblast thank you so much for your kind response. Can you recommend me to your friend? I would be so grateful for your help.
Buy BIG rocks at Dave's quarry!
I wish I had the room to store them BM.
HI DAVE, DEPENDS ON WHAT THE NOISE YOU ARE HEARING IS? IF THE NOISE IS A "GROWLING OR DEEP GRINDING" NOISE, SOMETHING IS WRONG INSIDE THE TRACK DRIVE MOTORS. THE BRAKE PRESSURE & FRICTION DISCS COULD BE WARPED & "RUBBING" AGAINST EACH OTHER. THE JCB JS220 DOESN'T LOOK THAT OLD, HOW MUCH HOURS HAS IT DONE? THE TRACK MOTORS DO MAKE A NOISE WHEN ROTATING SO IT COULD BE NOTHING.
The noise is just a whine, can hear it in the video. machine is 2016 and 5000 Hrs. i think.
What did you use in those deeper holes.?
A plug of 32mm packaged emulsion and ANFO.
Thanks Dave.
When are we getting introduced to the second rock fighter in red overalls?
That is Kevin
A-mazing.
Big job, very nice video. What will happen the the stone?
He is using the stone as retaining walling and the soil as fill to level some ground elsewhere on the property.
“The residue of my pleasure”! You make a mess on every hole you drill?
It is indeed the residue of my pleasure, just wish I had a crusher to feed it all through an sell it!
Are you based and working in Australia ?
Yes, Melbourne
Br Damage.... be an interesting call up.
Yeah, there was some big bits in this one Biffo
Are you not wearing hearing protection when drilling?
He may have ear plugs in as a change from wearing ear muffs.
I use these ones - www.moldex.com/au/hearing-protection/foam-earplugs/sparkplugs.php 29dB cut.
I came because of YT algorytm. Stayed because of the accent.
Have a look around while you are here.
How's that mini ex drill compared to the track rig???
The mini got the reach advantage
As you noted the Airtrack has limited reach, good for preshoot trenching and benching at a quarry but limited use when doing forest road construction where you might have high rocks that need a ramp to get on. The 3.5 Tonne excavator is fitted with a drill that is about half the power of the Airtrack but it is more versatile.
Hows the roc203 going? How much air does that beast need and does it drill faster than home made drill?
Going well Damo, it needs about 450CFM to run it flat out, my large comp can only supply 375 CFM, I've just put together a hose adaptor to allow me to feed it with both compressors.
Yes, it drills a lot faster.
That was completed in one day? Impressive job
Oh, no Tom, this took six days to complete, there was a lot of other small bits that got blasted that are not shown here also.
NICE VIDEO BUT THE JCB JS220 OPERATOR SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO WORK OVER HIS MACHINES TRACK MOTORS AS HE WILL DAMAGE THE BRAKE DISCS IN THE BRAKE PACKS OR SHEAR THE TRACK MOTOR DRIVE SHAFT AT THE SPLINES!!! COSTLY REPAIR!!!
Hi Graham, I noticed that the machines track motors are a bit noisy, is this because he is doing something wrong or they are a bit tired? More information please.
What do you mean "work over his track motors" ???? Please explain.
Sounds like a bull in a China shop.HA HA HA .
No hearing protection. Not smart.
33dB protection ear plugs.
Nice work... I've been looking at the excavators in your videos and I'm surprised that none of them seem to have thumbs. Around here it's the odd one that doesn't have one.
Around Melbourne Australia, the only excavators with thumbs seem to be ones owned by demolition contractors.
As Mark said, they are not very common in Australia.
Around here there is a lot of land clearing so you deal with brush and logs that need to be moved and the rocks when it comes to building foundations. So a thumb is a must.
@@Femmpaws yeah. I put a thumb on my 1.5t ( now 20 year old) Komatsu when I bought if 10 years ago here in Tassie. Runs a treat.
