The of able is an open syllable. It doesn't need any other vowel to stretch its sound.
It follows the open syllable rule.
You can search "open syllable homeschooling with hira" on YT to understand this.

Ma'am,Magic 'e' trick is for most of the words. But not all words . Right?
Or it is for all english words, this rule is applicable.
