You Got it ,John, Yes, most are looking outside themselves for something special passion....then to die and still have their light dancing in them. I believe do what you Love and everything will follow.
Gratitude for your work and for sharing. I find that my work with gratitude is supporting my shadow work by finding gratitude in absolutely everything. When you are truly grateful for everything, judgments go away and you are able to get to know and embrace your shadows. Thank you
So what is the relationship between shadow work and legitimate suffering? I would also like to know if shadow work has any relevance to what Carl Jung referred to as the wounded healer.
"Even" your meanness? Especially your meanness! Shadow work is simply observing the moments of your day when you're angry, upset, mean or judging, and asking yourself what you are projecting in those moments.
Wow! hit a nerve. What if we dont know what we meant to do. I know what my strengths are but dont know how to apply it to get a job which entails my gifts- things i naturally ooze. How do i know? how do i obtain it? Spent the last 36 years not feeling fullfilled in my life - work is not what i love actually the opposite and this speaks volumes because its left me feeling unhappy and financially not good and dont have a relationship as in no one shows interest and if they do they are not what i deserve. so very interesting thank you.
This has happened to me also. Only two weeks ago I broke through the block (I want to share with you). So in my 20s I was cruising along doing an apprenticeship in the career i loved. Half way through I was struck with occupational dermatitis and told by my doctor to 'choose another career'. I didn't want to, as I loved what I was doing. I dabbled in things over the years but I had a massive hindering BLOCK for 20 years. So fast forward to this year, I had been working on EFT - (emotional freedom techniques) by robert smith, faster EFT - working on your inner world releasing and letting go of all inner trauma and negative emotions. So I was working on the career block, and i started to let go of 'the block' and just 'not knowing,' what else i wanted to do in life, not even thinking I would get results - just focusing on letting go of internal negative feelings when - three days later I was flipping through a magazine and suddenly an overpowering positive feeling lit me up like the light of the sun and I KNEW what i wanted to do. I felt so dang happy, full of life and excited, still do and I'm heading toward that goal. So go back, as far as you can to where you felt blocked or where someone told you you couldn't do what you wanted too, and let the emotion, words or trauma go. All the best.
Hi Melissa, I like to stress that EVERYONE has gifts to offer the world. We must trust our inner passion, our joy, what makes us happy and excited? What kind of job would you want if you could pick anything in the world? It is all possible to us, should we have the drive and desire to do so. It doesn't happen overnight, it does take time and effort, but with action and dedication, your dreams will come to fruition. What do you enjoy doing? What makes you happy and light up inside? These can be small keys guiding you through the next door of your journey should you take the leap to find out!
Hi John thank you for your response i appreciate it. I want to help others like coach sit one on one and advise with people but ideally children. I live in South Africa and so studying psychology or something just isnt possible as im a single parent and just dont have the funds and jobs are scares. . but yes im saying my daily affirmations and hoping things will open up. :)
Dear John Kehoe. On RUclips, on your behalf, they announced that you are giving out money to those in need. But as soon as people take data, the system starts asking for money. Tell me, do you know about this? Are you really helping people in need? Regards Sophie
Why is this man not looking into the camera? If he is speaking to someone in the room should that person be speaking back? Shouldn't there be some interaction? If he's alone in a room and speaking just to a camera why isn't he looking into it?
It takes time and dedication, but essentially observing yourself daily. What thoughts are your having? How do they make you feel? What patterns do you see often in your life? Really look deep inside yourself and be honest and unafraid. No judgement. Be fair and kind to yourself when you choose to dig deeper, as once you see what is holding you back, once you expose that it is there, you can take the appropriate steps to then change things in your life.
I’m a year into my own shadow work, and it started with me taking a deep inventory of my RESENTMENTS and my FEARS. That’s where I started. Simply writing down a collection of as many people, institutions, concepts, and events that I held onto anger regarding. The key is not judging or condemning myself for having these resentments, but observing what they are. Normally, the purpose of exposing those parts of myself was to bring them into judgment, criticism, rebuke. But the first step was acknowledging that I had these feelings and not immediately condemning myself for them. Then I became curious about why I held onto my anger so tenaciously. Did I have a role in those resentments? If so, what? Did I believe any untruths, did I have more power in those scenarios than I’ve realized? What I was doing was bringing the light of my conscious awareness into those parts of me that I’ve previously rejected or tried to pretend did not exist. That’s the first big step in shadow work. It has helped me separate courage from rage, empathy from envy. I still have a long way to go, but I continue to take inventory.
There might be a certain risk associated with the dark side of the psyche which is a very powerful force. It can wreak havoc if done wrong or the person is not strong enough to face the shadow. I personally think that the risk is worth the price.
Just to be accurate, it was introduced by Carl G. Jung (1871-1961). I’m interested in what Dr. Dahlke has done with the concept, but he was not its originator.
If you want to even sound like someone who understands the work of Carl Jung, it might be a good idea to learn how to pronounce his name at the very least. This representation of the shadow is a childishly superficial vanilla flavoured new age offering and nothing like what Jungians actually deal with.

I have a friend who reads your books a lot.
Is the basis for body code and emotion code and letting go by David Hawkins and Bradley Nelson.

Melissa Sherriff hi
What's an example of loving your flaws(anger, jealousy)?

How can you see your shadow?
Good question. Please let me know if you get some answers. Thanks.

why do some therapists say you shouldn't do shadow work
Kathy McDevitt because their afraid of their own shadow . So they project their limitations onto you and try to hinder your healing and growth .
Golden Archer's Channel, very well said!

Shadow Work was introduced by German, Baverian Psychiatrist, Dr. Ruediger Dahlke. Seems like it is getting popular!
