Question which one should I use if I'm new to blending stick, I just brought some and I was wondering.
You forgot the f pencil which is similar to the hb pencil but a little bit different
@@katarzynakozakiewicz4760 omg! Please explain? Pretty please?
@@hughes773 I started with 2B and as I got more confident, moved up but never liked anything above 4B
@@drakynoch thank you I give it a try

There are people in Nepal (either Nepal or Tibet, around that area) who sculpt in butter, so...

Baddahh...
I laughed to hard at this comment😂
Never in my life did I think I would hear Scott Sava say “buttah” and now I will think about it constantly, thanks Scott
Ha ha
I love the little different unique things different creators on RUclips say! Like Wewd and I want that from Bobby Dukes and we have Stipple that goop from Studson Studios and Wormy dealies from North of the Border. Just a few crafter RUclipsrs I watch.
SAME!!😆🙌🏻
It is quite good, and I love it.
@@EmeraldCrafts130 omg those guys are awesome!

21 years of my life and this is the first time i know about this, and I've been to art class...
I'm disappointed in myself lol
Don't worry most art schools are like this. Being in art school, I find myself researching on my own and learning from peers more than lecturers ever teach you. Don't be afraid to ask around and look online to improve yourself!
In the end, they let you try figure everything by yourself, so that you can develop your own skills and style without them having any influence and control on you.
@@jayna3400 that is a good point.
I've had art as an extra class for a few years now (science students don't have it by default), and my teachers always emphasized more on oil painting techniques. So what that means is us students would have to learn other mediums on our own, or not learn at all :v
I literally just learnt this in science a week ago. Like different H and B pencils have different amounts of graphite and clay. The more graphite means a darker tone. For example, a 4B pencil has 79% graphite and 15% clay, compared to a 4H pencil with a 55% graphite and 39% clay. *Note that most pencils have a 5% wax content.
Same! I didn’t even know what the b1 meant
The best explanation about this B-not to B subject that I ever found. Thank you 🙏
I’ll always remember the “buttah” pencils, thank you Scott
✨BUTTAH✨ thanks Scott
I do a lot of graphite and sketches and I always use a 2H pencil for my outlines on everything. It's light and doesn't really smudge, so I can ink over it for my watercolors or put colored pencil over them and they don't get all over everything else.
I use 4H for all mine. Easy to erase and ink over.
Ooh! I learned about this in art class!
Basically the lead in "H" pencils are made with more clay, making them harder and lighter.
Meanwhile "B" pencils are made with less clay an more graphite, making them softer and darker.
Clay?
@@mybigyear yes.
@@gothiccprince can you explain it please
@@mybigyear I... explained it in the original comment.
But here, have this from google:
"The “lead” in a pencil isn’t actually
made from lead. It is made from a
form of carbon called graphite. The
graphite is mixed with clay and
formed into long thin pencil lead."
"so what is the difference between a B and a H pencil?"
Sir, the difference is that one is a pencil and the other is an insect
I had to read that a couple times to realize
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and is feeling loved! If not, i send virtual hugs!
Yay hugs!
I love hugs!
Hugs coming your way💛💛💛
This honestly was a blessing I always get them confused 😭
Omg THANK YOU I was so confused about the H not blending

No one Could Explain It Better! Scott, Confidence is Key, I know it Sounds simple, But so many people ( Including me😂 ) Would be so happy to have you as Their Art Teacher! Dont forget it!
That opening is all I needed in my life, thank you XD
Your explanation is the only one that's ever made sense for me. THANK YOU
i'm self taught and never actually knew what the letters stood for. i always refer to them as hard and buff lol
"Smooth like butter like a criminal undercover..."🎶
Gon' pop like trouble breaking into your heart like that...

Make "BUTTAH~" your pick up line, I just love it 😂
I couldn’t help but smile at the dad joke at the beginning, I loved it😆
Think you explained it very well :)
I use a lighter pencil like a B to erase watercolor sketches easier and 2B-8B for figure drawing and still lives
You are a WEALTH of information and communicate SO WELL!!! Thank you!!!
i will personally start calling B “Best for blending”
Ive definitely gained a craptonn of confidence since I started watching your vids. I was originally drawn by the Mucha-esque watercolour paintings as these are my favourite artist/muse & medium, but have since learned so much more than style, & have really enjoyed working on filling my sketch book as practice. ¼ of the way through & Ive seen DRAMATIC improvement & I can safely say your channel is 100% to blame. Thank you so much...a.
Absolutely My Pleasure ♥
I’ve never been so early! thanks for giving me art motivation :D
This was honestly the best explanation I've ever heard. Thank you.

I love this explanation. So simple and less confusing than trying to figure what’s the difference on my sketching kit.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS THEY ALWAYS HELP ME WITH MY ART
My favorite things about your videos are the fact that you give tips inspiration and make jokes! The way you enjoy drawing makes me just want to draw for a whole day.
Also the joke you made at the beginning really got me lmao
"Soft and smooth like *b u d d a h* 😄"
Scott, thank you so much for making these videos. Not only are they incredibly informative, but they also always seem to make me smile
You're the best, thanks again
Me who has a heavy hand and never uses blending:
H it is.
exactly what i needed! you really do listen to your audience! love it!!
My uncle told me that joke 1 time
He thought it was hilarious
This man’s videos are just so wholesome so I just like to chill on his channel.
I never ask but can i get a pin please ? Love ur vids super helpful and entertaining! ❤️
Done!
you did it!! :D
@@ssavaart omg 😱 so awesome thank u 😂☺️
@@artwalex428 yeah how awesome !!!
Congrats
That actually really helps now I know why some of my pencils are so much lighter than the others I do realistic art and the h's are just not dark enough and they dont blend as well and this is 1 of the other many reasons why I fallow you lol
I found my sweet spot in 4B when I was in college. I haven't went near "art" in many years now, but coming across your videos a couple of weeks ago really helped inspired me to want to come back to it; especially the video you did on how there's no wrong way of doing art. Thank you, God bless.
I love the way you explained the difference between B and H! Great job Scott ❤️
You are an adorable person, while at same time being very informative! I love you videos, thanks for making great content.
I like you for not being pretentious artist.
Oh my God. I just love watching your videos. I'm positive your family just loves you ❤️ them and anyone who's met you! You have such a great personality. Thank you 😊
This man is the most wholesome person ever
This is my favorite channel by far
Smooth like butter...✨💜
Hey Scott, I just gotta say; thank you so much for inspiring me to actively draw more.
You’ve helped me so much with my motivation it’s ridiculous. Really. Thank you so very much.
Yes he finally explains the difference between different pencil sizes
I think you explained it very wonderful in 1 minutes
Keep up scott
Actually that is a really good explanation and demonstration! I don't consider myself an artist, and don't draw all the time. But when I do, I like using pencils, but never quite got the lettering of them! Now I understand a lot more!
This was so helpful and it’s the first time I have ever heard it explained simply enough for anyone to understand. Thanks!
I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this information, thank you so much Scott
Your content is educational AND makes me smile, 8 billion out of 10, delightful
Thanks needed that
Lol about to comment that
You answered that question better than anyone ever could 💓
I never thought i would [ HAVE ] to use your videos for my art (I'll use it for your use but no where else really explained it well enough ) thank you for being here for my junior art y9ull help me in the long run
I like that there are different kinds of pencils, it makes sketching much easier for me
You have answered a decade long question that I for some reason never googled and I thank you for it, love all your work!
You explained it very well! I had a hard time understanding before this. Thanks!
Oh thank you, I've been wondering that for the longest time! It makes so much sense
Well explained!! 😃👍🏾 Blending stick or blending stump or tortillon…
I love the way you say butter 😆🧈
Now I finally understand the difference between them. It’s so silly that B stands for „Butter“ but it’s the most effective way to tell anyone because it is so silly that you will remember it
this is so helpful because i’m new to art and i never knew that the pencils were important! i will keep this in mind from now on thank you!!
This was definitely a more fun explanation of lead hardness than my college professors gave 😊 Loved it!
Black & Hard Black is my all time favorite pencil types..!! ❤️💯
Thankyou for for explaining this!
Scott just made me a better artist today!
I love every single video :) It's perfect for all our art baby friends to help them out ☺️ I've shared your videos countless times with beginner artists :) Very useful 🌸
This is really helpful 👍 I love your art style so much you inspire me so much and you have such useful tips I love your videos
I really love the way you explain things it's really helpful in my art journey
This was sooooooo helpful! I always preferred B pencils (usually 4b or 6b) but my drawings were always so soft and smeared a lot. It turns out I should have been using H pencils and got hooked on 4H and I'm happy with my results. Thanks for clearing this up. Stay awesome! ♥️
I'm so glad!
Scott thank you so much, this actually just jumped by learning ahead significantly. ♥️
The way you say butter is literally the most adorable thing I've ever heard an adult say
Just saying that B stands for "black lead" made me suddenly understand everything. I've been experimenting with my set of different graphite pencils but I've never actually understood them before now! Thank you ❤️
i love this guy he's so wholesome
This was pretty helpful, thank you for the demonstration! 😁
Honestly this man is one of the most wholesome people on this platform. You saved my art in many ways. Motivation, quality, and creativity. Thanks Scott.
This is the perfect explanation! Anytime I've googled the difference I end up finding super long articles that I don't find really explain the difference
Honestly a pretty sweet break down
Yu explaind it very well. I have not gotten many H pencils. But that made it make way more sense..
Changes are coming in my art soon.
You explained it perfectly for me. I needed to see it.
You really are a gem! We love you and your wonderful videos.
Thanks! I’ve recently gotten into drawing more realism and I don’t do well with shading colors so I’ve been doing black and whites, this is really great tysmm!
This is the first time I actually heard this in a way I can understand and hopefully remember lol thanks for these videos!
This helped a lot with my art, I was so inspired by your one video where you got the old bag for all of your art stuff that I got one too. I got a real Swiss Army Medic Bag from the 50s I’m still in the process of cleaning it but I can’t wait, good luck on your art!
THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH. I HAVE BEEN STARING AT MY PENCIL SET FOR 4 YEARS AND I RUN ACROSS THIS TODAY. THANK YOU
You nailed the explanation, Scott. Not so different from how my art teacher explained it to me eons ago.
2b and 3b is the best for lines, and 6b is the best for shading no more debait needed
Reminds me of:
Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover
Cool shade, stunner, yeah, I owe it all to my mother
That's a great explanation, art teachers would make a whole 2 hour lesson
I love your explanation! “Buttah” says it all!!
Now I know what HB stands for 🙂 thank you
Essentially correct. The h pencils are usually use for light sketches to erase easily when going over it or something along that line. The b gradients is all about shading and making a master piece.
Love your hints!
Can you make a playlist containing all Everything you want to know? That'll be helpful
Ngl, this really helped me in what pencils to use when drawing
Wasn’t into to art but I still watched him now I am big in art huge inspiration
