  • Fishing The Gold Coast for flathead lures is super addictive. If you're a beginner learning the lure game or just love chasing Flathead, grab a kayak and see the stunning sports fishing and leisure options exist on the Gold Coast and surrounds. The sand flats, early morning, are the place to be!
    This is part of a SPECIAL RELEASE. This is footage from my DVD series - The Kayakers Guide To The Gold Coast. I'm releasing clips from a couple of my DVDs to hopefully help you get your fishing fix during the isolation restrictions. I hope it helps you escape into the world of fishing. There's 3 uploads each week, jam packed with hook ups and fishing tips. Let me know what you think in the comments.

    totally addictive love wading the flats and edges fishing shin deep water for those big bow waving boofs...amazing how illusive a metre flathead is I've taken 82 fish over 80cm since sept 2019... not one fish over a metre.... around 50 of those were between 80 and 90 with the best being 98cm...I lost and spooked 4 fish that would have been over a metre this season....I also saw 2 lays that would have been 120 cm - 140cm...those big girls gorge themselves in the shallows and disappear back into deeper water until they get hungry....they don't feed that much IMO...they really are greedy when feeding have caught em with a gut full of big mullet and a mullet in the mouth yet they still smack the lures!!..once you start putting in the time and casts you open a whole new world of awesomeness I'm always amazed at the things I learn about the habits of big flathead never thought we could consistently catch em on the surface...thanks for the psyche up I'm going for a flick!

      That’s damn good going mate! I reckon those big flatties are still underrated for their sports fishing challenge and fighting ability

      chasing crocs has breathed new life into my fishing... I always used a boat fishing flats.. would get em as by catch surface fishing for bream n whiting... spooked many big fish up shallow over the years never really targeted em in the boat... but since I got into wading 7 years ago my flathead game has hit top shelf have seen things I never dreamed of seeing had sessions that people would say are fantasy much like your flatty session on the how to vid...4 x 80cm+ fish session type of fishing..big bow waving Barra boofs in shin deep water!..sight casting fish cruising on/off the flats.. big fish coming out of no where at your feet and smashing my lure...thanks for the psyche up vid btw...got me out of the house the other morning had a 95cm fish an hour after commenting and lost a fish around 80 at the boga's!...only 2 bites I got in 6hrs of wading around!

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  3 года назад

      Hey Brad 2-4 is sweet IMO. a longer rod around the 7ft or so range will give you that extra casting distance which plays a role in flatty fishing too ;)
