Great video! I hiked Cirque Peak at the beginning of September. It was the highlight of my hiking year! I also stayed at the Johnston Canyon campground, but next time I'll get a tent site further back from the train tracks. Lol!

      @DannyJSchaefer  2 года назад

Oh man that's so funny because we loved the campground, but had the same issue with the trains! It seemed like every couple of hours (or more) those things would lay on their horns in the middle of the night!!
Aha thanks so much for watching the video, Eric! The camera never quite captures the shots to the fullest extent of what it looked like in person, so it's awesome that you also got to see those views. Cheers!

Oh man, you just keep hitting them out of the park!!! Banff is another destination high on my list of places to explore!!! I first found out about this place playing a video game of all things!!! Absolutely GORGEOUS mountain scenery!!!
Those mountains in the background in your opening shot are AMAZING!!! I mean they are horrible, and no one should ever go there to visit. Wait, I think I can see a family of Sasquatches in the background! 😊
Glad to see Tessa and Lolly were able to make the trip!!!
Oh, cool looks like Tessa got a new ride! If I remember correctly, the last time you were in Canada, you guys went car camping in a white vehicle. This one looks different, but I may be getting my videos confused once again.
You know you are in for a beautiful hike when the view from the parking lot looks AWESOME!!! How cool is that. Great shot of the mountains behind the trees!!!
More great walk by shots!!! Awesome!!!
That trail looks pretty well groomed, I mean compared to some of your last adventures. You definitely had to watch out for some rocks and tree roots, but it looked pretty doable.
Oh my God, that shot at the 2:12 mark should be printed on the back of money!!! It reminds me of the mountains they use in one of the movie studio’s logo, Paramount maybe. Dang, I used to think those were Photoshoped, but looks like they went to Banff to get their inspiration for their logo!!!
The view of the mountains along the rest of the trail was spectacular!
Wow, that shot of Tessa and Lolly way in the foreground, with the mountains behind them gives GREAT perspective of that area. Wow, that looks so cool!!!
I love how it turns into high mountain desert as you ascend. Literally views for miles!!!
Are vehicles allowed on that trail? It looks like there are tire ruts or maybe they are just from snow run off.
Lake Helen looked nice, but I think I am spoiled after your last few videos. 😊. It was still pretty cool!
It is crazy how you cannot see anyone or anything for miles. It looks like you guys have the whole place to yourself!
Wow, that peak still looked pretty high, even when you made it all the way to the base. Hehehehe!
Jeeze, it looks like you guys are on the surface of some distant planet. Wow, that looks pretty cool. No trees or vegetation.
Too bad Tessa got injured. Smart to turn around and not push it. Very surprised you found an activity to wear Lolly out. 😊 😊 😊
It is amazing that there is all that water up there. I think I counted 4 lakes. One was WAY in the background, I think. I am not sure they would be considered lakes, but I guess it is not too surprising with all the snow they must get up there.
Oh, that background shot around the 7-minute mark was AWESOME!!!
Those views on top of Cirque Peak were breathtaking!!! Just gorgeous!!!
I was surprised to see a bird fly overhead at that height. I am guessing that was some type of hawk. It looked pretty big, even in the distance!!!
I was surprised to see people up there. I am not sure where they could have come from. 😊
The 8:56 shot may have been the money shot!
You looked like King of the World standing on that peak!!!
Wow, something about the view going down really makes you realize how high up you are!!! That lake looks like a puddle!!! 😊
When you look at the vastness surrounding you, you can’t help but wonder if there are places no human being has ever stepped foot on. I have to believe that is probably true!!!
The trail through the valley on the way back was pretty amazing!!! It looked relatively flat, but you were surrounded by huge mountains shooting out from the ground. There were no foothills, it was like flat terrain, then BAM, giant mountains out of nowhere!!!
Love all the trees as you begin to descend!!! So beautiful!!!
Nice camp spot!!! Did you bring your own firewood? 😉
That hike was a bit deceiving to us. It looked like it was a little, not much, but a little easier than what you have been doing lately, but at the end when you talked about the distance and the elevation you climbed, WOW, total butt kicker for sure!!!
How was the beer? I could not make out the name, but I imagine after a long day of hiking it must have tasted great!!!
Does Lolly get her own tent, or does she stay with you guys… hehehehe? I think this is the first overnight trip she has done. She seemed to feel pretty at home!
    Once again, another spectacular video!!!
We hope you are all doing well!!! Be safe!!!

    • @DannyJSchaefer

Thanks dude!! I went to Banff about five years ago with a buddy from work, and had been dying to get back there with Tessa. It's a beautiful place - even the town!! I'm curious what video game had Banff in it?
Weren't they beautiful?! I mean ugly.. definitely no one should ever go there. The Sasquatch family makes it a dangerous place :)
I was glad that they could make the trip as well! Yeah we upgraded her Prius to a Rav-4! Good memory on the old video of Kokanee Lake - you are 100% correct sir. At least we didn't have to wrap our vehicle in chicken wire here.
The parking lot had great views too! Heck, there were fantastic views EVERYWHERE!
The trail was definitely in good condition. That's a well known National Park for you.
Haha the 2:12 money comment! It was an awesome view! Maybe Paramount Mountain is actually in Banff!
I don't believe vehicles are allowed up there, there were signs warning us about walking off-trail and why not to do it for area preservation. I remember thinking the same thing though. I think it's all just water runoff that created those tracks!
Yeah.. to be honest Lake Helen was kind of a bust. Tessa was even like.. "this is it?" Haha. That's okay though, the peak was what it was all about!
Yeah it was too bad that her hip was bothering her. This is something we've been dealing with since the Chelan trip/video. She describes the pain as feeling like bone on bone grinding on her outer hip. She's seeing a chiropractor for it, but until it's fixed and we know what the issue is she probably won't be hiking with Lolly and I for awhile. It's too bad! She was hurting by the end of the trip, but it's only when we hike. Normal day to day walking and workouts don't bother it. We're not sure yet.
There is so much water! It seemed like there was a lake at every turn.
The birds were actually ravens oddly enough! We have crows down here in North Idaho, but I don't know if I'd actually seen a raven like that before. It reminded me of a good ol' Game of Thrones episode.. only these ones had two eyes.
The money shot! I always look forward to hearing which one you think is worthy enough to be crowned that title! I think so too. That was a fun one to get. I had to set up my camera on the summit, hike to the false summit, hope that my phone and GoPro app would connect to the GoPro, record, and then hike back to the summit to get my camera, and then back to the false summit 😂 It made for a sweet picture too!
We were definitely up there that's for sure!
I believe there probably are still places that no one has ever stepped foot on here on Earth. The world is so incredibly vast.
The Camp Spot was awesome!! Haha apparently you aren't allowed to bring firewood across the border, but you can bet I thought about it. That clip at the end of our campsite was actually the last day of the year that the campground was open for. They were just giving away free firewood for our whole trip which was awesome. You can bet I also wanted to take the firewood back for stand 😊😂
I can definitely see how that hike looked deceiving for sure! The map at the end made it look short. It was a doozy though for sure. That first part of the climb once we reached the base of the peak was quite difficult and Tessa smoked me on it. I just told her it was because I had the heavy backpack :)
The beer was awesome! It was one that I picked up in the town of Canmore the day prior. I don't remember what it was, but over the summer I actually decided to go Gluten free.. So that was a gluten free IPA and it was actually fantastic.
Lolly did fantastic! She just slept in her crate under a vestibule of the tent and she did really well. 2023 is going to be Lolly's year for some fun hikes and backpacks!
Thanks so much for the continued support! I hope you guys are well!!

@@DannyJSchaefer Hehehehe, the game was called Links 386 Pro, I believe. It was a golf simulator that was famous back in the 90's, because of its realistic golf courses. I am not a golfer OR I should say, what I do would not be called golfing 😊. But I used to play that game on the PC because the scenery was great. Compared to today, the graphics weren’t like they are now, but back then SVGA rocked!!!! 😊
Hehehehe... damn ‘saquatch's, they ruin everything!!! 😊
Oh, definitely a nice ride for sure!!! Ahhh, I forgot about the chicken wire!!! I will have to watch that video again. Man, you have so much great content!!! I need to add your vids to my media library for nonstop enjoyment!!!
Hehehehe, all your shots are money shots!!! It is tougher than you would imagine picking the best of the best. I am sure some of the things we find amazing make you scratch your head. 😊
Very sorry to hear about Tessa's hip issue. Hopefully she can get that squared away really soon and get back to hiking!!! Glad to hear it does not affect her day-to-day movements, but sorry it keeps her from going on adventures. Tell her my Mom and I wish her all the best and a speedy recovery!!! Looking forward to seeing all 3 of you on MANY adventures in 2023!!!
Get the heck out of here, that was a raven!!! OMG, that was huge, at least it looked like it was huge. Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. I am surprised any birds would fly that high, but I do not know much about birds. 😊
I have never seen an episode of GOT, but I have all the seasons in my media library!!! I plan to watch them one day. I will keep a close eye out for the raven!!!
My Mom and I always try to figure out how you get your shots!!! It never ceases to amaze us the amount of time, effort, and energy you put into getting them. Not to mention the amount of creativity and vision you have to think of the shot in the first place. You absolutely have a gift!!! Trust me, not everyone can do it. I subscribe to over 1,200 channels I think, maybe 1,300 and there are less than a handful that I think could compete with the work you do. And I am pretty sure they have a crew of a zillion people working in the background.
We learn something new in every video. I had no clue you couldn't bring firewood across state lines. I guess it makes sense to prevent bug infestations, but I would have not known that unless you told me. Another one of the million things we learned from your channel!!!
Hehehehehe, blame it on the backpack!!! Hopefully Tessa doesn’t read the comments. 😊
Wow, a gluten free IPA. I don't think I have ever heard of that. I am not a big beer drinker, but I will have to check that out.
Glad to hear Lolly did fantastic!!! She is really an amazing dog!!! You both have done a great job with her. She really looks like she is having fun and she also looks very happy!!!
You are very welcome!!! Thank you for all the great videos!!!
We cannot wait until the next one!!!

Dude that is amazing! The views at the top are so scenic, and I think you've picked a perfect spot. Honestly, this was all filmed on a GoPro 10. They've really come a far way with shots like in this video. Are you looking to film the wedding? Best of luck, and congratulations! Let me know if you have any more questions.

No kidding eh, def thought you had some sort of stabilizing device for the camera, the shots are pretty smooth! I was curious because i recently bought the zihyun M2 stabilizer but it doesn't really do much for my Go pro as its meant for heavier cameras.
On the wedding end, we were going to do a kanaskis hike but after meeting with the photographers they said we have to do cirque peak. As long as the weather cooperates, i don't think it will disappoint! We are lucky to have found both adventure photographers and officiant. @@DannyJSchaefer

hi! I'm planning to do this hike in the summer! I live in Calgary and was wondering how far the drive is from the city to the trail? Maps is showing me the direct distance from my place to the actual peak - is the parking lot for this trail right at the icefields parkway/highway? thanks ! x

      @DannyJSchaefer  Год назад

Hey there! Sorry for taking a few days to get back to you. So I just ran a quick map from Calgary to the trailhead and it's showing 2 hrs 22 minutes away from you. You got it, the trailhead is the one right off of the highway/icefields parkway - right across from Bow Lake it looks like. I hope this helps. Cheers, and thanks for watching!
