- St Mary's Church, Wolborough (Newton Abbot) has a fine peal of eight cast in 1926 by John Taylor and Co. They produce and growly, howly and rewarding sound to the ringers and people walking outside the church. I think they are quite similar to Leamington Spa, but not for the tower sway! They are also known as one of the finest eights in their weight category too. However, there have been debates on whether Kingsteignton are better. I personally think that Wolborough are more punchy and roar more, however Kingsteignton are more zingier and richer to the ear.
The bells go quite nicely, but are a tad difficult to handle due to the fat sallies, eliminating grip and therefore harder to ring well. But the challenge is worth it as you will hear in this video. In this clip you will hear Sixty on Thirds rung on the back six with closed handstroke leads. Hope you enjoy the video!
Absolutely fantastic, I love F+ rings! Those yellow sallies are brand new! (there were blue ones here previously)
These are my favourite ring in Devon when all 8 are going.
Was this during the RWNYC?
No. This was an open practice on the night before.
Ok
Is the tower captain Timothy profmoose
Yes he is! This was my first tower of experiencing Devon Style Call Changes, and I bloody loved every single bit of it! These bells are on of my favourite eights! They have so much roar and power for just only 15cwt.
@@RingerThomas I ring only devon calls a few blows of plain hunt and plain bob but I'm not very good at the fast cutting and holding up on methods ho handstroke gap is nicer in my opinion btw stratton cornwall is my favourite 8 and dunsford my favourite 6
